A man cannot be comfortable without his own approval. – Mark Twain

You Are A Product!

You are a complete product that is well packaged for exploits! You have the ability to make a lot of things to happen. You just have to develop this mindset. You must believe in yourself all the time if you want to be a successful salesman. The things you have within you equipped you to conquer your daily sales activities. No one can stop you except you. Ralph Waldo Emerson puts it this way, ‘‘what lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.’’ I totally agree with this thought.

Discovering Yourself Is The First Positive Attitude

The deposit you have within can overcome your life challenges. The only missing link is self discovery. It is when you discover who you really are; your purpose in life, that the concept of believing in yourself will become more concrete to you. Attitude has a lot to do with what you are going to achieve. Your attitude will make or mar your sales success.

Attitude is what you apply daily. Attitude could be negative or positive. Your positive attitude attracts people to you and on the flip side of the coin, negative attitude drives people away from you. Dr Poly Emenike’s thought fits in here, ‘‘You make your habits and your habits will make you.’’ Everything begins with the things you allow within, which forms what happens around you. You owe yourself positive attitude. This is the beginning point of success.

Giving Up Is Not An Option

Let me share a little of my thoughts about the journey of life. When you understand and apply this philosophy, maintaining a positive attitude becomes easier. Life is a continuous journey. In this expedition, it is natural to encounter ups and downs. Things may not necessarily go the way you planned but you must continue to move on and believe in yourself all the time. When you fall, you are expected to get up and move on. Failing is just an event that will come and go if managed properly. In fact, failing is an integral part of success. It takes a man who is positive minded to understand this philosophy.

Anytime you allow any form of fear within you, failure sets in. I believe that failure is not entirely negative. Failure could also lead to success. A determined fellow usually try many times before succeeding. Many successful people failed several times before succeeding. One of the secrets of success is self-belief. Believing in yourself brings out the best in you. A successful individual believes in his dreams and will not give up on them. People who succeed most of the times are the ones that have tried several times. When they try and fail, they try again.

Fail Forward!

I believe that people who have the most number of failures are the ones that succeed most times! It is in trying that we learn how to succeed and how not to fail. Don't be afraid to try; rather be afraid not to make an attempt. When you try and fail, try again. Falling and staying down is the true definition of failure. When you fall during the life journey, get up, invigorate yourself and hit the road again. Fail forward! Learn from your mistakes and move on. Only God get it right all the time.

You Are Your Number 1 Fan

You must believe in yourself before others will believe in you. You are your first fan. Self-belief and positive attitude will enable you achieve this. The number of Yes you say to yourself inspires you to make a difference. You must believe in your dreams and strategies. No one will do this for you. It is your obligation. It is when you say Yes to yourself that other people will say yes with you. The more you believe in yourself, the more people will believe in you. The more you say yes to your products, your services and your job - the faster and easier selling become in your world.

Believe You Will Succeed

Dr Napoleon Hill once said, ‘‘Whatever the mind conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.’’ This can’t be truer. Successful salespeople create the results they want to see before commencing their daily activities. A positive minded person imagines success in his mind’s eye before starting his day. This is one of the advantages of believing in yourself. Each time you believe in yourself, your chances of accomplishing set goals increase because the inner-man will expand and be prepared to do more.

Successful salespeople increase their expectations and the ability to achieve set goals. They don’t reduce expectations in order to attain result. They increase their ‘Self- Believability’ and Capacity to enable them attain their expectations. Everything begins with You. Become a better You.

In selling, Attitude Is Everything! This is my philosophy.

HealthFive Practices That Impact Skin Health by madeafricans(op): 10:25am On Aug 03, 2018
Source: http://www.geneith.com/2018/08/five-practices-that-impact-skin-health.html

Do you fancy a healthy skin? It could be yours without you having to spend a ton load of money to achieve it. Here are the five best practices for having a healthy skin:

1. Seek protection from the sun
Prolonged exposure to the sun can cause wrinkles, age spots and other skin
problems. It can also increase the risk of skin cancer. You can minimize your exposure
to the sun by using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15.
Another way to minimize exposure to the sun is by avoiding the sun at the time of the
day when the rays of the sun is at its peak. You should also make use of protective
clothing such as tightly woven long-sleeved shirts, long pants and wide-brimmed hats.

2. Smoking should be avoided
Smoking contributes to wrinkling of your skin thereby causing you to look older. It
also narrows the tiny blood vessels in the outermost layers of skin and decreases blood
flow making the skin paler. This also depletes the skin of oxygen and nutrients that are
important to skin health.
In addition, smoking also damages collagen and elastin (the fibres that give your skin
strength and elasticity). It increases your risk of squamous cell skin cancer.

3. Treat your skin gently
You can take care of your skin by doing the following:
· Limit bath time as long baths tend to remove oil from the skin. Hot baths should be avoided, instead warm baths are encouraged.

· Strong soaps and detergents can strip oil from your skin, you should make use of mild cleansers instead.

· Shaving cream, lotion or gel should be applied before shaving to protect and lubricate the skin. clean, sharp razor should be used in shaving.

· Gently pat or wipe your skin dry with a towel after bathing, so that some moisture remains on the skin.

· Use a moisturizer that fits your skin type if your skin is dry. Also consider a moisturizer that contains SPF for daily use.

4. Eat a healthy diet
Always ensure to eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins
because a healthy diet can help you look and feel your best. Some study suggests that
a diet rich in fish oil or fish oil supplements and low in unhealthy fats and processed
or refined carbohydrates might promote younger looking skin. Also, drinking plenty
of water helps keep your skin hydrated.

5. Manage stress

when stress is uncontrolled, it can make your skin more sensitive, trigger acne
breakouts and other skin problems. To enhance a healthy skin and a healthy state of
mind, you should take steps to manage your stress such as getting enough sleep,
setting reasonable limits, scaling back your to-do list and making time to do the
things you enjoy.
FoodHow Changing The Type Of Food You Eat Can Affect Learning by madeafricans(op): 9:48am On Jul 19, 2018
Does what You eat affect learning. YES, it does!
Studies have shown that students learn better when they’re well nourished.
Healthy dieting has been associated with higher grades, improved memory and
alertness, faster information processing and improved health leading to better school
attendance. on the other hand, unhealthy eating habits negatively affect learning.

Again, while certain food type will help boost learning, certain others while hamper
the learning ability of an individual.
We all know that Junk and fast food negatively affect the brain’s synapses and several molecules related to learning and memory.
Also, foods rich in trans and saturated fats adversely affect cognition, studies indicate.
Too much calories can reduce the flexibility of synapses and make the cells more
vulnerable to damage by causing the formation of free radicals.

On the other hand, diets such as spinach, orange juice and yeast, which are in
rich folic acid are essential for brain function.
Diets that are also rich in omega-3 fatty acids are also important in maintaining and
boosting brain activities.

In addition to these, you must ensure that you reduce your intake of food containing
sugar, artificial sweeteners, fried foods as well as packaged foods as they have the
ability to affect your brain in one way or the other and by extension your learning
ability.

Food10 Foods You Must Avoid When Trying To Lose Weight. by madeafricans(op): 10:35am On Jul 06, 2018
Leaving the foods you love so much can be really difficult most especially when you are trying to lose weight. If you are someone that really loves food, at first it is almost similar to how you feel after a terrible breakup. But as times goes on, you start to get used to living without those food you love so much.
If you just started your weight plan or if you are already on one, just continue reading because it gets interesting. You are about to learn which of those foods you love so much you just have to breakup with to make your diet plan more effective.

1. French Fries and Potato Chips.
Whole potatoes are healthy and filling, but French fries and potato chips are not. They are very high in calories, and it's easy to eat way too many of them. Consuming French fries and potato chips has been linked to weight gain. French fries or fried potatoes may contain cancer-causing substances called acrylamides. Therefore, it's best to eat plain, boiled potatoes.

2. Sugary Drinks.
Sugar-sweetened beverages, like soda (minerals), are one of the unhealthiest foods on the planet.
They are strongly associated with weight gain and can have disastrous health effects when consumed in excess.
Even though sugary drinks contain a lot of calories, your brain doesn't register them like solid food.
Liquid sugar calories don't make you feel full, and you won't eat less food to compensate. Instead, you end up adding these calories on top of your normal intake.

3. Fruit Juices.
Most fruit juices you find at the supermarket have very little in common with whole fruit. Fruit juices are highly processed and loaded with sugar. In fact, they can contain just as much sugar and calories as soda, if not more. Also, fruit juice usually has no fiber and doesn't require chewing.
This means that a glass of orange juice won't have the same effects on fullness as an orange, making it easy to consume large quantities in a short amount of time.
Stay away from fruit juice and eat whole fruit instead.

4. Alcohol.
It's almost impossible to find a weight loss expert who recommends alcohol for weight loss. While some cocktails have fewer calories than others, alcohol just doesn't support weight loss. It contains empty calories that don't fill you up or provide any nutrients, softens your resolve so you're more likely to overeat, and impairs your judgment, regardless of your weight loss goals. When alcohol is present in your body, it's considered a toxin that your body wants to get rid of, and becomes your liver's top priority, and when your liver is in hardcore detox mode, it can't burn fat as efficiently.

5. Frozen Meals.
Freezer meals can be just as tempting as canned soup when you’re in a time crunch. However, they too are loaded with salt to preserve them. This causes you to eat more and your body retains excess water in an attempt to dilute the large volume of salt that you’re taking in. Neither one will get you closer to your weight loss goal so it’s best to avoid these convenience meals altogether.

6. Spaghetti and Pasta.
Pasta is great when it comes to energy, but because most of them are simple carbs they get processed by your body rather quickly, sending your blood sugar on that roller coaster ride that all dieters dread. You don’t have to avoid pasta completely, just limit it to the whole wheat varieties so you get all the nutrients with none of the sugar spikes.

7. Ketchup.
This one condiment seems harmless enough, but did you realize that it is extremely high in both sugar and salt? That makes ketchup double trouble when you’re trying to lose weight. Yes, it goes real well with French fries, but you shouldn’t be eating them very often if you’re trying to lose weight and get healthy anyway, right?
Certainly, you can’t eat perfect all the time but the better you eat overall, the more progress you’ll make toward your goal of losing weight and getting in shape.

8. Grapes.
They are quick to eat, they're certainly healthy, but they also contain high amounts of sugar that may trigger cravings for other sweet products. Don’t avoid them altogether; combine them with proteins or add them to salads.

9. Low-Fat foods.
Consuming these may put you at risk of inadvertent binging, as they create the illusion that you're not consuming many calories. Manufacturers often replace natural elements with chemicals to make these foods "low fat".

10. White Rice.
Not only does white rice have fewer nutrients than brown rice, your body can process it so quickly it’s likely to send your blood sugar soaring. The result is an energy crash that is soon to come, followed by cravings to eat other not-so-healthy foods in an effort for your body to feel energetic again. Choose brown rice instead and enjoy more nutrients with fewer future cravings.

HealthHow I Found Out My Child Was Autistic by madeafricans(op): 3:55pm On Jun 27, 2018
I Think your child might be on the spectrum!!! And for a moment I was confused. Because I honestly didn’t know what meant. First of all what Spectrum are you talking about? Then she began to explain, and it sounded so foreign and scary. She asked me questions like “does he talk? Make eye contact? Answer to his name?” the picture that came to my mind was Down Syndrome. To the questions she asked there wasn’t a sure answer. Cos he is just 3 years old and he needed more time to grow in these things, so I thought. I couldn’t shake off the Down syndrome thought in my head, so I asked her is it down syndrome? She answered yeah… they are all developmental disorder. And my mouth fell open, I was so afraid, I was shaking, I couldn’t say anything. You see what started out as a routine vaccination and checkup has turned into a nightmare, and I needed to wake up. I didn’t like what I was hearing, I didn’t understand what she was saying, and I wanted it to stop. My son was just slow period! Boys are known to be slow. That was the only explanation that made sense.

I have known for a while now that my son was slow, but that didn’t mean developmental disorder. But everyone including my parents, my sisters and my friends seems to have an answer why things were slow. Questions like not answering to his name, delayed speech came with a reassuring answer. Which was always “oh he is a boy”,”boys are slow” and I felt ok, Cos there are real life examples where kids finally caught up. I knew they had a point, I trusted their opinion. Because they had more experience as parents and asking them questions felt alright. It was only natural to seek guidance.

When I found out that I was pregnant, we were so happy, cos we had been trying for a while. Well not actively **lol** since I was still in school technically my final year. But we were hoping I would take in before I graduated, which happened that way, so we were over the moon literally **lol**. It was a smooth pregnancy I wasn’t sick, I was active and super healthy. I was content. When the time came to push, it wasn’t easy, but as a first time mum, very few of us get the easy labour. After what seemed like forever, I heard him cry and I felt so relived. And when he was put in my arms and I saw him for the very first time, it was all worth it and I would do it a thousand more times just to have him. I fell hard for him and even till this day, I am still in love with this little guy. He was so perfect, and beautiful (he still is) we were so in love. My husband was drunk (don’t get me wrong, not with alcohol) but with this feeling he found difficult to put into words. And I understood cos I felt that way too. For months I have been connected to this little guy, and I finally have him in my arms. Again I was content.

Everything was great, I mean absolutely great. We couldn’t stop staring at him. He smelled great, he slept well, he ate well, he wasn’t fussy, and he was perfect. He reached his entire developmental milestone on time. Sat up on time which was at 5 months. He could babble for hours on end. And I would always join him. My younger sister would always tease me for talking the way my son does and I came up with crazy baby words and names, I was having the time of my life. I was a stay at home mum and I loved it. And by the way he walked on his birthday, took his very first step unassisted at one. Back at the doctor’s office, as I sat there holding my son in my arms, trying to make sense of all I have heard, and since no other examination can be done cos he was sleeping. She promised to send me an email with some questions to answer and forward back the answers to her. These questions will help narrow down what was going on with him.

I willed myself to get up walked as fast as I could to the car, cos I knew if the tears came, it would come hard and I would be a total mess. I put him in his car sit, which took longer than usual cos I couldn’t seem to get it right. What I had done countless times. I guess it was because I couldn’t see what I was doing with the tears in my eyes. I turned on the ignition, and the flood gates were open. I cried and cried as I drove home. My thoughts kept running wild. All that I imagine motherhood to be will never be. My child will be dependent on me and so….on. I still can’t remember how I made it home. But thank God we did, cos half the time, I couldn’t see. I kept thinking of all the questions she had asked me, and how some of them were true. I was so afraid.

Getting home, thankfully he was still sleeping, I called my sister. Told her all that had happened and what the doctors said. She didn’t even waste any time, she went off on the doctor, said all sort, cursed her out. She ended it with “all these fake doctors everywhere”!!! Lol Don’t mind her she said! He is a boy! Boys are slow! And to top that, he is first! And no siblings to interact with! Mind you, my sister was screaming this information at me over the phone. I sat still and nodded my head vigorously even though she couldn’t see me agreeing with her. When she didn’t hear me from my end, she screamed once more “can you hear me”! I nodded once more not realizing that she still couldn’t see me, then she said hello, hello I answered hello. She asked one more time do you understand? I said yes. Thinking about it while I write this, it’s kind of funny and my sister is crazy protective. She went all mother hen on me. Am glad I have my sisters.

After the phone conversation, I felt reassured. My sister was right! I mean she is smart, she is a mother; my sister has known me all my life. Who is this doctor that just met me and I am listening to her. Looking back now, I knew my sister meant every word she said to me on that faithful day, she loves me and has my back. Naturally, it was the right thing to do. And that was it. I became hopeful, that my son would grow out of it. I never went back to that doctor, never filled that form, I forgot all that happened that day, all that was said. Everything was good for a while……….

For a while being the key word here. in between for a while and when I finally had enough, parenting was crazy. A lot of emotional roller coaster, screaming and yelling at my son was the order of the day. Demanding from him every time got him to withdraw from me which made me frustrated. I just didn’t know what I needed to do to get things right. I longed for things that other parents took for granted, simple things like "how are you" and "what’s your name " were not so simple. Seeing other kids his age talking about their day, their favorite T.V show or their favorite cartoon character didn’t help either. sorry but it pushed me to demand more from my poor child. I wished he could tell me what I needed to do to help him, but at best he could only repeat the exact thing I said. Which would be “what is your name" he repeats "what is your name"! But there were times when everything felt normal we laugh or he gets giggly from something on T.V. and we shared a MOMENT! Rare moments where everything seemed normal and perfect. It almost feels like it never happened and that my active imagination might have played a fast one on me. Because as soon as I am so happy that things are finally normal, a symptom rears its ugly head up and we are back at it again. Those moments I should have held on to quickly disappears and I once again i feel frustrated. It looked as if we were not getting anywhere.

My life stood at a standstill at least it felt that way. My relationship with everyone and everything was suffering. I couldn’t tell anyone what I was going through. I did talk to my husband about my concerns not all but a few of it. My loving husband comforted me and said “there is nothing wrong with him” you see he could say that, he wasn’t at home with him the way I was, so I saw everything. I tried my best to be a good mother to my child. Providing for him and taking care of him. But one thing I felt I could do better was connecting with my child…. But remember I had totally forgotten the conversation I had with the Doctor about AUTISM on his routine checkup. Am not sure I can use that word FORGOT! Because it was indeed a roller coaster ride one minute it was good, the next it wasn’t. I also felt he was being a difficult child. I didn’t know what to think, but I still didn’t think AUTISM. To be continued……….

HealthSurprising Solutions To Get Rid Of Dry Skin by madeafricans(op): 9:28am On Jun 19, 2018
http://www.geneith.com/2018/06/surprising-solutions-for-dry-skin.html

If you notice rough, scaly patches on any part of your body especially your leg, arm, back or waist then you have dry skin. Dry skins could be itchy too.
There are many recommendations for getting rid of dry skin but the following are among the best of them:

1. Moisturizers with AHA (Alpha Hydroxyl acids): AHAs which are originally derived from milk, fruit, or sugarcane help remove dry, dead, crusty, scaly skin. They also help to trap moisture in your skin, thereby restore your skin's smoothness.

2. Moisturize your body while damp: It has been revealed that the best time of all to apply oil or cream to your face and body is immediately after a bath or shower, while you're still damp, and your skin is plump with moisture. This is so because most moisturizers and lotions are formulated to lock in moisture so that it doesn't evaporate.

3. Learn to apply enough grease to the parts of your body that are more prone to dryness such as your heels, elbows and arms. Always ensure to cover up these parts of your body after greasing them up especially at night.

4. soaking in lukewarm water in a tub for a fairly long period of time will also help in restoring moisture to the skin. Once done, the body should be patted semi-dry and oil should be applied to the skin.

5. Use milk: if your dry skin is itching and causing you a degree of discomfort, put some quantity of cold milk in a bowl with the aid of a dishcloth apply the milk to the skin for five minutes. There should be a relief after that.

Health4 Types Of Pain You Never Knew Existed by madeafricans(op): 9:27am On Apr 19, 2018
Just when you think you have seen it all or you probably know it all, Mother Nature and science keeps on surprising us. There are more than 10,000 types of pain, over 50 for each parts of the body.
In this post we have put together different forms of rare pains you probably have never heard of in your life.
1. Giant cell arteritis

This is a really painful form of headache, and the cause of this headache is still unknown, but the condition is extremely serious. We do know it's linked to inflammation and almost always seen in people over the age of 60, who often also feel pain around their ears when chewing with these types of headaches. Also About one-third of people with giant cell arteritis eventually go blind. Treatment is done with steroids as soon as possible to prevent blindness and dramatically improve the pain.

2. Trigeminal neuralgia.
This pain is more common in older people. It is felt at the temples and around the jaw and is similar to an electric shock. It is typically triggered by something like touching the face or brushing the teeth, and people with this condition may experience several shocks a day, most possibly due to an artery pressing on a nerve. Muscle relaxants might help, according to the National Headache Foundation, but if a patient with these symptoms is younger than 55 or so, it may also be caused by a neurological disease.
Related Post: Why we feel backpain and how to get rid of it.

3. Scoliosis Pain.
Scoliosis pain often occurs when underlying (non-scoliosis) spinal conditions are aggravated by postural distortions (scoliosis). In some cases the underlying condition would have developed anyway, and is only painful because it is combined with scoliosis. In other cases the scoliosis causes the underlying condition by putting stress or pressure on various parts of the body.

4. Dyspareunia.
Dyspareunia is pain felt during or after sex. It’s one of the most common gynecological complaints and its surprising how most people don’t know the name for it. It affects eight to 22 per cent of women. According to the Sexual Advice Association, dyspareunia from time to time is normal, but if it happens often it can become a problem.

The main reasons for this are it impacts on a woman’s sex life and can cause her ongoing distress.

Health5 Things You Can Do To Soothe Sore Muscles. by madeafricans(op): 10:59am On Apr 04, 2018
A common misconception we all have is that sore muscles are a sign of a good workout, and its proof that you are getting fit and just had a great workout. But the truth is that sore muscles and workout quality don’t go hand in hand. It usually just means that you pushed yourself too hard or that you’re doing new exercises.

When you exercise intensely, that can cause micro-tears in your muscle tissue, which leads to delayed onset muscle soreness. This typically develops 12 to 24 hours after a tough workout, and can linger two or three days.
Follow these tips to help you help you get rid of that muscle soreness.

1. Stretch.
Stretching helps after a good workout. When you train, you contract your muscles, and the muscle fibers get shorter. Lengthening them after a workout promotes mobility, and can lead to a more thorough recovery.
For a study, researchers asked 20 women to perform shoulder exercises. Two days later, the women received a 10-minute massage on one shoulder and performed 10 minutes of exercise (a lighter intensity version of the original moves) on the other. Turns out, participants felt equal amounts of relief in both shoulders.
So you get the same effect you from getting a massage and stretching.

2. Hot Shower.
Warm temps can increase blood flow to sore muscles. So take a very warm or hot shower, or if the pain is isolated, apply heat directly to the spot that’s giving you trouble.

3. Eat a balanced meal.
Eat a balanced meal for quicker recovery. You want to make sure to get enough healthy proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, all which play important roles in repairing and maintaining muscles, and warding off sore muscles. Taking foods rich in Omega-3s such as salmon, spinach, and nuts—may help boost circulation to sore muscles while also reducing inflammation.

4. Foam Rollers.
Try and get a foam roller. It can save you a lot of money than what you’d pay for getting a good massage. If you can’t get one around you, you can always order online. Foam rollers are Similar to massages, foam rollers increase blood flow to your muscles through applied pressure—but without the hefty price tag, says Edelstein. And since you decide which muscles you work, you can make sure to focus on the areas that need the most

5. Know your Limits.
There is a growing amount of evidence that suggests moderate- to high-intensity exercise performed for more than 90 minutes can negatively impact your health. When you constantly push your body to its limit, your performance can suffer. Your health may also deteriorate, and you can seriously injure yourself. When it comes to exercise, managing the intensity and time of your workouts and your recovery can help you stay fit and well.

BusinessA Formal Computer Apprentice Built Slot, Tecno And Infinix. Here's How by madeafricans(op): 4:36pm On Mar 27, 2018
Meet Nnamdi Ezeigbo, a native of Umuahia, Abia state, the founder and CEO of Slot Systems Limited, and also the co-founder of the Tecno and Infinix phone brands, which are currently one of the fastest selling brands of mobile phones in Nigeria. He was on the 4th of August, 1966, in Delta state, Nigeria.

EARLY LIFE

He started his primary school education at Pamol primary school, Sapele, and later had his secondary school education at Ogini grammar school and Ogharefe, in Delta state, between the years 1979 to 1984.

After Nnamdi’s secondary education, he got admission into Yaba College of Technology in 1988, where he studied Electrical Electronics Engineering, and graduated with a Higher National Diploma (HND), then later served his country, Nigeria, during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year at Guinness Nigeria PLC, in 1996.

He further proceeded to study Computer & Electronics Engineering at the Lagos State University (LASU), between the years 1996 to 2001, and graduated with a Second Class Upper, B.sce.

HIS EPIPHANY

After completing his youth service year, Nnamdi Ezeigbo tried to no avail to secure a job with a company in Nigeria. With no promising signs of any potential employment, he went on to work as an apprentice learning how to repair computers. After which he launched out on his own to repair computers for individuals. Since he didn’t have any cash at the time, he had to squat with a friend who owned a book store at Ikeja. His business grew well because of his honesty and the importance he placed on customer service.

THE BIRTH OF SLOT

One day, an old customer he knew from his days as an apprentice, came to his little shop to see him. He told him he would love him to continue fixing his computers but would prefer he operated from a larger and more serene environment. To help him out, the customer brought some printers for Nnamdi to sell, from which he used the proceeds to setup a new shop for himself. He paid for the store at a then price of 180,000 Naira (He later bought that same store many years later for 100 million Naira).

From his new store, he began to sell computers. As his business grew, a lot of customers started to demand for slot stores in areas close to their vicinities, and to ask if they sold mobile phones. With a keen eye to spot opportunity when it presents itself, Nnamdi Ezeigbo immediately expanded his business to also cover the sale of mobile phones.

THE BIRTH OF TECNO

With no real knowledge on how to manage a growing business, Nnamdi decided to enroll for an MBA program at the prestigious Lagos Business School, and also attended a lot of workshops focused on building a great entrepreneurial prowess.
During this process, he and his team decided to take a 5-year route to build a strong reputation for their brand. By the time the projection had elapsed, the Slot brand name was the most reputable mobile phone retailer in the whole country.

The rise of telecommunication networks created many opportunities in the Nigerian market. Their poor services caused many Nigerians to purchase more than one mobile phone, so they could try a different network when the other was bad. Nnamdi realized this problem early on and approached Nokia in a bid to convince them to manufacture dual sim phones for Nigerians, so they would carry only one mobile phone at a time instead of two. They refused to listen because, seeing people carry more of their phones meant more phone sales for them.

According to his interview with Nairametrics, Nnamdi said;
“So I went to China and got a guy who had worked with a company called Bird then. Bird was into phones but they got choked and lost market share. I met with the guy and asked the guy to let us do something. I came with that name and I registered it here and brought the guy to Nigeria. And that was the high point of our business. We came together and I designed the first Tecno phone, Tecno T101. We started it but the market did not accept it and we also had problem with the dual SIM not working together and we had to make corrections and we came with Tecno 201 and that was a bit accepted by the market. But we were basically giving marketers on credit to sell the phones and then pay us later. And I was funding it all alone. Since I was funding it alone, we were finding it difficult to get the right quantity to sell until the market started accepting us. What I now did was to make them pay in advance, I mean the dealers. So we started using their money to order the products. This was around 2007. The introduction of Tecno brand was the turning point of our business. Like I said, Tecno is my baby and we kept improving. I knew a day would come when the middle class would accept Tecno. Initially, it was a phone for low income people but based on improvement and upping our game, the middle class had to accept it and when the economy went down in 2008 that helped Tecno to move to the top. Since purchasing power had dropped, they had to go for something that have same capabilities but cheaper. So with N15,000, you could buy a Smartphone and thank God for 3G network. The advent of 3G network actually helped Tecno to move up. So students who could not afford to buy phones in the range of N30,000 could buy one for N15,000 and enjoy features of Smartphone like Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp and so on.”

To promote the Tecno phone sales, Nnamdi started distributing the phones to retailers on credit, to sell. According to his interview with Nairametrics, he said;
“Since I was funding it alone, we were finding it difficult to get the right quantity to sell until the market started accepting us. What I now did was to make them pay in advance, I mean the dealers. So we started using their money to order the products. This was around 2007. The introduction of Tecno brand was the turning point of our business.”

As stated in his interview, he was completely funding the Tecno phone introduction and sales himself. This affected the business at first because, his team had difficulties getting the right quantities for sale, until the Nigerian market began to slowly accept them.

As soon as the market had adjusted, and the demand for the phones were exceeding its supply, Nnamdi began to request an advance payment from the retailers for the Tecno phones. This enabled them to manufacture many more Tecno phones that could better satisfy the market surge. This was around 2007, and his introduction of the Tecno phone brand into the Nigerian market was the turning point of his business career.

The Birth of Infinix

Concerning the birth of Infinix, Nnamdi stated;
“Tecno now gave birth to Infinix. It is the same company. You can now see how the brand has evolved. So looking at the Nigerian people, you would see that a phone like Tecno will get a point when premium customers will like to use it.”
While the Tecno was having a great time in the market, it spun off a subsidiary from itself, named Infinix, to cater not just for the middle and lower class, but for all classes of individuals in the country.

Today, Tecno and Infinix are the fastest selling phones in the Nigerian market, and have a rock-solid reputation that has guaranteed their future in the country.

CONCLUSION

We can learn three things from Nnamdi Ezeigbo’s story.

'If you haven’t found a Job yet, maybe it’s a sign you should start your own business and create jobs for other people, but I also know its not as easy as it sounds but the most important part is actually starting.'

'Always dream big but start with what you have, once you start help will come along the way'.

HealthHow Ignoring Pain In Certain Parts Of The Body Can Cost You Your Life by madeafricans(op): 11:08am On Mar 26, 2018
The everyday aches and pains you're used to could be a red flag. Usually a headache is just a headache, and heartburn is nothing more than a sign that you ate too much fast-food. Except when they're not.

Pain is the mechanism of the body to indicate that there is a problem that needs to be solved. More often than not, you have some idea of what's behind it. But when it comes on suddenly, lingers longer than usual, or just seems different, it calls for medical attention—and the sooner, the better.

In this post we will be giving you 5 pains you shouldn’t ignore based on the parts of the body they occur.

1. Heart
Pain in the chest most especially in the right side may indicate certain cardiovascular problems. This may also lead to pain on the left body side, as they are linked to other body parts which send impulses, such as the spinal cord.

According to the University of Michigan Medical School, “Cardiac pain is often referred to areas of the body surface which send impulses to the same levels of the spinal cord that receive cardiac sensation. This is true especially on the left side.”

2. Lungs and diaphragm.
Pain in the neck and upper shoulders may indicate lung issues. This can also be laced with breathing problems to do with the phrenic nerve that runs from the spine, through the lungs, to the diaphragm.

3. Kidneys
The pain felt in the pelvis, thighs, lower back, and lower abdomen usually indicate issues with the kidneys. Kidney problems are quite difficult to diagnose, because you can feel pain in many places, but if you feel continuous pain in any of these places please try and see a doctor.

4. STOMACH.
Abdominal pain and back pain in the area where the stomach is, almost always is a sign that something is wrong with your stomach or your pancreas. Most people with chronic pancreatitis have a severe back pain.

5. Ovary
In the case of inflammation of the ovaries, a person may feel pain in the frontal part of the abdominal area, of the both sides. A stabbing and intense pain in the area of the ovaries may indicate cysts.

6. Bladder
Pain in the lower pelvis, in the front or the back usually refers to problem in the bladder.

7. Colon and Appendix.
Pain in specific areas of the abdomen connotes appendicitis problems. Problems with appendicitis commonly cause severe pain in the whole right part of the lower abdomen. Pain in the central part of the lower abdomen may be a signal that you have problems with the colon or the rectum.

8. Liver and Gall Bladder.
Pain in the neck and the upper shoulders may also be the first sign that something is wrong with these two organs, particularly if the pain occurs more frequently on the right, where the liver and the gall bladder are located. Problems with the gall bladder can manifest pain in the shoulders, as well as in the diaphragm.

If you feel pain in any parts of the body mentioned above, please do well to see a doctor as soon as possible before it costs you your life.

Health5 Nice Ways To Get Ready For A Heart Disease by madeafricans(op): 12:47pm On Mar 19, 2018
We’re used to seeing headlines about what will or won’t increase your risk of having a heart disease. Some headlines can’t be trusted, but we know that with lifestyle changes and medication you can help reduce your risk of a heart event – even if you’ve had one already.

Our team has done our research and come up with five things we do or habits that most of us have and things we are exposed to that can increase the risk of having a heart disease.

1. SMOKING: This is the most popular habit that increases the risk of anyone having a heart disease. Hence the popular phrase “Smoking Kills”. If you smoke, you are more than two to four times more likely to have a heart attack, and you’re much more likely to die if you do have a heart attack.

2. Excess Weight: People who have excess body fat especially at the waist and belly are more likely to develop heart disease and stroke even if they have no other risk factors. Losing extra weight is good for your heart. It can also help you lower high blood pressure and manage diabetes. Carrying extra pounds, especially around the belly, strains the heart and tips you toward diabetes.

3. Gender: Most people don’t know this but Men have a greater risk of heart attack than women do, and they have attacks earlier in life. Even after menopause, when women's death rate from heart disease increases, it's not as great as men's.

4. Cholesterol: Cholesterol is a fatty substance found in the blood. Too much ‘bad’ cholesterol can increase your risk of developing a heart disease. It can cause atheroma to build up inside artery walls, preventing enough blood reaching the heart. If a piece of atheroma breaks off, a blood clot can form, blocking blood supply to the heart and the brain.

5. Lack of Exercise: People who don't exercise are more likely to get heart disease, and die from it, than people who do. Check with your doctor before starting a new exercise program, especially if you aren't active now. He/She can tell you what you can do.

Health5 Reasons Why An Addiction Is Not A Disease by madeafricans(op): 10:59am On Mar 19, 2018
You may not know this but more than half of the world see addiction as a disease. The idea has become entrenched in our news media, our treatment facilities, and in the hearts and minds of addicts themselves. It’s a potent concept.

“I truly believe no treatment will work on a person with an addiction if the patient hasn’t fully given themselves over to the fact that they have a disease that does not heal itself.”

This were the words of Margaret F.’s words which captured a core belief of the traditional type of treatment program she attended. Leading professional organizations – including the American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, World Health Organization, and American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) – subscribe to the notion that alcohol and other drug addictions are diseases.

According to Nora Volkow, head of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, “addiction is a chronic, relapsing brain disease,” and this definition has also been adopted by medical researchers and policy makers everywhere.

Great minds such as Oprah Winfrey, Russell Brand and Joe Biden agree: the then-senator even introduced a bill in 2007 called the “Recognizing Addiction as a Disease Act.” (It never came up for a vote.). The disease theory has powerful forces behind it, has money behind it. Perhaps most important, it has a comforting thought behind it.
So after our team had done their research we have come up with a list of five reasons why this concept of an addiction being a disease is not true.

1. Addiction is self-acquired and is not transmissible, contagious, autoimmune, hereditary, degenerative or traumatic. Treatment consists of little more than stopping a given behavior. True diseases worsen if left untreated.

A patient with cancer is not cured if locked in a cell, whereas an alcoholic is automatically cured. No access to alcohol means no alcoholism. A person with schizophrenia will not remit if secluded. Sepsis will spread and Parkinson disease will worsen if left untreated.

2. The brain of an addicted person changes over a period of time but it is normal. And the changes in the brain that occur because of addiction are not irreversible. We’ve been talking about neuroplasticity for decades. That is, the brain keeps on changing – due to changes in experience, self-motivated changes in behavior, as a result of practice, being in a different environment.

Saying addiction is a disease suggests that the brain can no longer change…that it’s an end state. But no, it’s not end state.

3. In terms of brain change, you could say that neuroplasticity has a dark side. But rather than a disease, addiction is a habit that grows and perpetuates itself relatively quickly when we repeatedly pursue the same highly attractive goal.

This results in new pathways being built in the brain, which is always the case with learning: new pathways are formed and older pathways are pruned or eradicated.

4. Cancer does not have a fixed rehabilitation. Addiction requires a specific, timed rehabilitation program. Cancer requires routine screenings and a specific medical treatment.

It is clear the exact moment that a disease, like cancer, has begun. The start of addiction, on the other hand, cannot be pinpointed. An addict can look back to the time they started experimenting with and abusing drugs. However, the addiction itself cannot be pinpointed, cancer cells can be.

Addiction is overcome through hard work and persistence in a treatment program and/or group therapy. Cancer cannot, it requires intensive medical treatment and continued therapy.

5. Diseases do not provide any ‘good’ sensations. Drugs and alcohol side effect is that of euphoria and other positive sensations. Cancer, for example, does not yield such sensations; it causes serious pain.

Using and abusing drugs loosens a person up, to points where they ‘can’ have fun or be the ‘life of the party’. Everyone knows that person or has a friend who gets ‘fun’ after a few drinks. Cancer does not make you the life of the party.

You do not get a disease, like cancer, when someone tells you to try it. Addiction starts with a willingness to try something.
Cancer is physically painful, addiction is not. The withdrawal from abusing drugs can be painful, but not the addiction itself.

Science/TechnologyMadiba Oliver, The Entrepreneur Who Owns The First Video Game Company In Africa by madeafricans(op): 1:20pm On Mar 12, 2018
The growth of Africa’s comic culture has given rise to the likes of Comic Republic with superhero characters and lifestyles that Africans can finally relate to and the reception so far has been incredible. However, a young Cameroonian may just have taken this initiative to the next level. Madiba Olivier, who has always enjoyed video games, is now pioneering his own brand of games with African content and characters in central Africa by incorporating African folklore.

Growing up poor in Cameroon, the son of a sugar factory employee and a video store owner, Madiba became obsessed with videogames, but with no industry in his home country, he had no viable career options in the field. “I had a little dream to become good in computer science and maybe go to America to work for a studio,” he recalls. “But it’s not so easy to travel from Africa, and my parents didn’t have money.”

After learning to code and graduating with a degree in computer science from the University of Yaoundé in 2009, Madiba used the Internet to teach himself how to make games and build a company. Gathering a small group of friends, he began working on a game that drew from their own culture and history. Instead of using the typical wizards and warriors of most role-playing games, they created a fantasy action adventure that imagines “how the world would be if Africa was at the top,” he says.

Initially named Madibao Corporation Studio, Kiro’o Games was established in 2003 by Olivier Madiba with two of his friends, Yakan Dominique and Waffo Hugues. The name Kiro’o is derived from “kiroho maonno” Swahili for “spiritual vision.” However, establishing and pioneering one of Central Africa’s first indigenous video games was not easy. Aside tackling daily power outages, the company’s business director, Boyogueno Roland, said it was quite difficult to get initial funding because investors were sceptical of the project.

As work on Aurion progressed, Madiba’s team posted videos on YouTube and put out a call for investments, offering 300 shares of the company. Along with a Kickstarter campaign, Kiro’o ended up raising $270,000, enough to finish the title. “Africa has its edge,” says one investor, Rodrigue Fouafou, the co-founder and CEO of HartNamtemah, a Canadian firm that invests in African start-ups. “The diaspora supports African products. People want something new, innovative and exotic—this is what Kiro’o Games will offer.”

As the April release date approached, Madiba found that his innovation had also gotten the attention of the U.S. State Department, which selected him to participate in the 2016 Mandela Washington Fellowship Program (launched by President Obama as part of the Young African Leaders Initiative to invest in the next generation of African leaders).

“The history of our continent is rich … we took inspiration from local Cameroonian traditions, like the Ngondo festival celebrated by the Sawa people, and we also incorporated symbolism adapted from that of the Akan people of Ghana, specifically the Adinkra writing style,” said Olivier.

Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan is set in a world of elemental energies and ancestral powers, where players control Enzo Kori-Odan, an African prince, and his fiancée, Erine. They are victims of a coup by Kori-Odan’s brother-in-law, who exiles them on their wedding and coronation day. The royal couple then travels through a fantasy world, recruiting allies and fighting to regain their rightful command. Players battle amid thatched roofs, lush green settings, percussive music and colorfully robed tribal characters.

Typically, Kiro’o Games aims to expand its operations in the future, with plans to add additional downloadable content after the PC release, and on to making the game available for consoles like PlayStation 4. With the likes of Olivier and emerging companies like Kiro’o, video game design sure has a future in Africa.

“We hope our game will show that there is diversity, but you will have white people in our games, too, and yellow and even blue ones,” Madiba says. “What’s most important is the message: Being African isn’t based on your color; it’s based on your philosophy. It’s how you see the world and what you want to share.”

Science/Technology7 Deadly Diseases Modern Science Has Cured by madeafricans(op): 12:48pm On Mar 07, 2018
We are in the 21st century, and due to technological advancement in the field of medicine, we humans have been able to develop vaccines, antibiotics and other equipment’s we have used to cure many diseases that would have become serious plagues that could have swept more than half of the entire human population we see today.

Also due to this advancements, worldwide life expectancy has increased from about 40 it used to be during the beginning of the 21st century to 70 in our present generation.
Sometimes it’s good to remind ourselves how far we have come, so in this post we will be giving you a list of the top 7 deadly diseases that has been cured by modern science.

1. Tetanus.
Tetanus is an infection characterized by muscle spasms. It is also known as
Lockjaw because the spasms begin in the jaw before they move to other parts of
the Body. Tetanus is caused by an infection with the bacterium Clostridium tetani,
which is commonly found in soil, saliva, dust, and manure.

The bacteria generally
enter through a break in the skin such as a cut or puncture wound by a
contaminated object. They produce toxins that interfere with muscle contractions,
resulting in the spasms. One in 10 cases lead to death. A vaccine prevents it, but it
requires booster shots.

2. Measles.
Measles is commonly recognized by the rash of spots beginning on the face and spreading to the body. It grows in cells in the lungs, which causes cold-like symptoms and can lead to pneumonia .Vaccines that prevent the disease are given to infants and to young children through booster shots.

Once the vaccine is introduced into the body, it produces lifelong immunity to the virus. The vaccine has made it possible to eliminate the risk of measles entirely. However, there are still occasionally cases of it due to negligence in getting the vaccine.

3. Rabies.
First recorded around 4,000 years ago, rabies may represent the oldest infectious disease known to humankind. Rabies is characterised by a reaction in the nervous system, which causes excitement, paranoia, anxiety, confusion and even fear of water.

Another common symptom of rabies is hyper-salivation, or foaming at the mouth. It can be transferred to humans when they come in contact with a rabid animal. Rabies is a zoonotic disease, which means it’s transferred from animals to humans. The anti-rabies treatment with vaccine is completely effective if administered within 14 days of exposure.

4. Polio.
Polio is an infection which when left untreated leads to paralysis and sometimes death. It doesn't have a cure, but the vaccine has prevented the disease from spreading in most countries. Polio is now eradicated throughout most of the developed world.

Since the advent of the polio vaccine, the disease has almost vanished.
According to WHO, in 1988, there were an estimated 350,000 cases of polio globally. In 2013, there were 416 reported cases – a more than 99 per cent decrease in the virus.

5. Small Pox.
In 1980, smallpox was the first disease officially declared to be “eradicated.
Smallpox is an acute contagious disease that primarily attacks the body’s skin cells, leading to bumps all over the body.

Probably one of the most famous diseases ever because of its now basically total elimination from the world, smallpox is a virus spread through human contact. The vaccine was so successful that in 1980 the World Health Organization stopped recommending that people use it.

6. Malaria.
Malaria is one of the most popular diseases in our country today that has been cured by modern science that we have forgotten how deadly it used to be. Malaria is a mosquito-borne infectious disease affecting humans and other animals caused by parasitic protozoans belonging to the Plasmodium type. Symptoms usually begin ten to fifteen days after being bitten. If not properly treated, people may have recurrences of the disease months later.

Malaria causes symptoms that typically include fever, tiredness, vomiting, and headaches. In severe cases it can cause yellow skin, seizures, coma, or death. The disease is most commonly transmitted by an infected female Anopheles mosquito. The mosquito bite introduces the parasites from the mosquito's saliva into a person's blood. The parasites travel to the liver where they mature and reproduce.
Once infected, there are antimalarial drugs available – as well as medication that can be taken before traveling to high-risk areas – but no vaccine

7. Yellow Fever.
Yellow fever is a tropical virus, spread by mosquitoes. It affects the liver and kidneys, causing fever, jaundice, and loss of appetite, chills, muscle pains and headaches.
It can eventually lead to liver disease but there is a vaccine for people who are traveling in those areas and are at risk. It is called yellow fever because in severe cases people turn yellow also known as jaundice.

WHO regulations cite vaccination as the single most important measure for preventing yellow fever. A yellow fever vaccine has been used commercially since the 1950’s. It is safe, effective and provides immunity within one week in 95 per cent of those vaccinated.
In 2013, WHO concluded that one dose of yellow fever vaccine is sufficient to protect against the disease for life.

Science/TechnologyMeet Ken Njoroge, The Reason Why Every Guy Must Learn How To Code by madeafricans(op): 4:35pm On Mar 06, 2018
Ken is a Co-Founder and the Group CEO of Cellulant in Kenya.
While doing his undergraduate studies at Strathmore University Mr. Njoroge worked at Internet firm, Interconnect and after a while moved to Formnet where he had a first shot at generating solutions for various statistical challenges for private companies.

He is a career entrepreneur who quit his studies in pharmacy opting for a degree in information systems management. At 23 he teamed up with two friends and started 3mice, a web development firm. To grow their business, they lured investors into the business and gave out 50 per cent stake and a further 16 per cent which helped them fly around Africa seeking customers.

3Mice Interactive Media which grew from a two-man team to a leading web development firm in East Africa. He headed 3Mice’s Technology, Strategy and Solution Development teams as its Solution Design Director. The team was responsible for conceptualizing and executing digital projects covering e-commerce platforms, content management platforms and e-business platforms for more than 50 blue chip customers in different sectors in the region.

In 2000, 3Mice was acquired by Africa Online, the largest Pan-African Internet Service Provider at the time that was owned by London-Listed firm, African Lakes Corporation.

Together with a Nigerian friend Bolaji Akinboro, Njoroge later co-founded Cellulant in 2004 on about $3,000, and a credit card, a mobile commerce company that manages, delivers and bills for digital content and commerce services actualized over telecom networks. “The vision of Cellulant’s founders was to create a Fortune 500 company in Africa, out of Africa and by Africans,” reads a statement on the Cellulant’s website. Ken has led Cellulant from a dream of two founders, one whose plan was sketched on a serviette in 2003, to a reputable mobile commerce firm in Africa.

It quickly expanded across Uganda and Tanzania as the banks sought it services in their subsidiaries. It now serves 50 banks via 40 mobile phone operators and has a clientele of 40million people in 10 countries.

In 2012, Nigeria’s federal government recently awarded Cellulant, which already has a presence in eight countries across the continent, a four-year $8.9 million contract to run an e-mobile registration and validation system for subsidized fertilizer.

Today, Cellulant is estimated to be worth over US$ 30 Million. One thing Ken points out about this valuation is that its inherently “locked” in the business and cannot be extracted until such time the shareholders consider shedding large portions of their equity. Ken also suggests that he has been “lucky” with Cellulant since the last 10 years have been like many leaps of faith with things coming together, “at just the right time”.

Ken laments at the fact that when he started Cellulant there was no kind of real venture funding in Kenya or the African Continent. It was really friends and family who helped give their business a starting chance. Ken hints that he is considering starting an Angel fund for start-ups in Africa to give them the “kick-off” that he never had to ease the passage to viability as businesses. However, Ken also notes that the failure rate for most start-ups is stupendous and as such mentorship of these.

I will conclude with two of Njoroge’s quotes: `

“Companies must never look back when an opportunity strikes. Do not fear to expand or go beyond your traditional markets but go out there in uncharted markets”

“My mother kept driving one message, excellence hardly looks at how much money you have, but a thoroughness in your work, disciplined and an ardent reader.”

Science/TechnologyMeet Nkemdilim Begho, The Reason Why Every Woman Must Learn How To Code by madeafricans(op): 10:06pm On Mar 03, 2018
Nkemdilim Begho is the daughter of Chris Uwaje who pioneered the conceptualization Framework and content drafting strategy for the establishment of the National Information Technology Development Policy for Nigeria. But believe me when I say that her father is not really involved in any way towards her success.

This tech entrepreneur built a powerful business focusing on online solutions, e-learning and IT security, and is taking Africa’s tech sector by storm.

She is a graduate of Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) &Technical University Munich (TUM), Germany, where received a BSc. Hons in Bioinformatics.

She started her career as an Application Developer at Max Planck Institute for Psychiatric Research, Munich Germany in December 2002. Here, she developed software tools to aid genetic research, and plugins for Micro-array database in Java such as a chemical compound database called Affectis KemSuite (Java PostrgreSQL) Affectis KemSuite is an in – house developed compound database system with chemical intelligence, which enables company wide data integration. Affectis KemSuite delivers all essential functionalities that ISIS Base, Chem Office or IDBS have, including the support of all data formats primarily used by the pharmaceutical industry.
.
In 2005 after she returned to Nigeria, she was the Channel Manager for Leapsoft Nigeria Limited, a Java Software Development Company.

In February 2008, she became the Managing Director of Future Software Resources Limited- a website design & web-solution provider located in Lagos, Nigeria.

She faced several challenges when she was handed this position, one of which was finding it hard to build a client base from scratch. Initially, the business did not have a large portfolio of clients to showcase, and therefore demonstrating track record to new clients was challenging.
She went for a slim and lean way of working, initially making the business as small as possible, building a company website and creating a business. At the time of launching the company, she had some savings and she lived on that, ploughing every money that she made from the business back into it.
She normally says: “When you are small, and you don’t have as much money as the big boys, you should be creative and figure out ways to be more efficient, automate your operations and build a strong business team.”
Other services her company offers include online marketing, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), content management system development, online recruitment, graphic design, brand development (logo design and branding), workflow, business and educational software development and IT consultancy services for Nigerian corporate and start-up businesses, as well as the public sector.
Her company innovated the first digital business cards in Nigeria.

She was also among the Research and Development Team, for National Information Technology Development Agency on E-Government Interoperability Framework.
In September 2009, she was part of the NITDA Open Standards Framework on Creation and development of the open standards framework for Nigeria.

She’s one of the Board Members of the World Summit Youth Award from 2010 till date.
She was awarded the Jim Ova Prize for Software Excellence.
She is also a facilitator at W.TEC and Ajegunle.org.
She is a recipient of the Etisalat Prize for Innovation.

She has been featured on several newspaper and magazine publications as an expert speaker on ICT in Africa.
And I will conclude with two of my favorite quotes from her.

1. "Understand that being an entrepreneur means living a few years of your life the way most people won’t, so that you can live the rest of your life like most people can’t."

2. "Be prepared to sacrifice, and to work harder than you’ve ever thought possible, be prepared to work around the clock, to be laughed at and called a dreamer, and to be told several times that your ideas will not work."

BusinessMeet Axel Fourie, An African Who Has Made A Fortune Off Fixing I-phones by madeafricans(op): 10:22am On Feb 20, 2018
Axel Fourie could be what most people call an accidental entrepreneur. He had tried a lot of other businesses in the past but never had luck with any. But he saw a great business opportunity by luck and made the best of it.
We are not going to beat about the bush and talk about where he grew up, or his past failed ventures or stuff like that, we will just go straight to the point and tell you about the period this guy had his epiphany as an entrepreneur.
This young South African had a problem with his IPod when he was 27. He went on YouTube to find a solution to it, and by this time YouTube was still growing to get the reputation it now has today. After he successfully fixed it, he thought of how he could turn this opportunity into a revenue stream.
He then thought of placing an advert in a local newspaper offering to fix Ipads and Ipods. He knew this was going to be a big business opportunity after two people called him after placing the ads. The total response he got were exceedingly overwhelming.
Soon after, Axel started a company he called iFix, and operated it from his dorm room in the university. The store now has at least 8 locations, and employs over 85 people.
iFix has also started manufacturing mobile phone accessories, which he exports to many countries across Africa.
His total startup capital was $0, except for the money he paid for the local newspaper ad. He is also one of the youngest millionaires in Africa.

You surely know it’s going to be difficult for you to become successful without books, emphasis on 'Difficult', I didn't say impossible I just said difficult. Hard work and perseverance are good but you don't have to persevere and work your ass off to be successful, and only talent isn't going to get you to where you want to be.

That is why I have learnt the importance of reading books and have come to love them. From books my mentors and other great men and women who have walked this planet can tell me the best and most effective way to pursue my dreams without making much mistakes.

I am a real book-nerd meaning I have read 100 of books, right now I read up to 3-4 books every month and I know that is kind of small but this is because I am a really busy person, and no matter how busy I am in a day I can hardly stay a whole day without opening a book.

HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE BY DALE CARNEGIE.

7. HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE BY DALE CARNEGIE.

This book is a classic, and I really enjoyed it. It's one book I didn't want to read at first when I saw the date it was originally published-1937, and I thought most of the principles that would be taught in the book were probably outdated. But this book is worth every second you put into reading to it, because it based on the principles involved in being likable, persuasive, and influential leader.

From this book, you will learn how to avoid criticizing, complaining or condemning others, how to praise others for their achievements, be empathetic, encourage people to talk about themselves, know when to use suggestions instead of orders and so many more.

RICH DAD POOR DAD BY ROBERT T. KIYOSAKI.

8. RICH DAD POOR DAD BY ROBERT T. KIYOSAKI.

This is another great read. This was the first book that opened my mind and made me start dreaming about being an entrepreneur. In this book you will learn the difference between assets and liabilities. You will also learn reasons why you should get assets instead of liabilities.

In this book, Robert Kiyosaki will change the way you think about money, with perspectives that often contradicts conventional wisdom. This book will teach you what to teach your kids about money for their future financial success, and also show parents why they can't rely on the school system to teach their kids about money.

9. HOW TO SELL ANYTHING TO ANYBODY BY JOE GIRARD.

Every entrepreneur needs to learn how to sell, and what better way is there than reading a book written by the World's Guinness book of Record - Greatest Sales Man. This books was written with love and contains almost every method Joe Girard uses to sell his cars to customers.

Joe Girard shares the system of salesmanship that has made him a renowned success in his field. He didn't have a degree from any great schools or get any certificate from any sales training agencies but he learned by being in the trenches everyday that nothing replaces old-fashioned salesmanship. I believe this book has helped millions of people change the way they think about sales, and it can also help you too.

10. WHO MOVED MY CHEESE BY DOCTOR SPENCER JOHNSON.

This awesome book tells a story that has a hidden meaning about why we should all deal with unexpected change and keep moving in life. This book was distributed to the employees by the managers in the pharmaceutical company I work in, and that was how I came in contact with the book.

This books tells the amusing and enlightening story of four characters who live in a maze and looks for cheese to nourish their selves. Cheese in this story is a metaphor for anything you want to have in this life, while the maze is basically life. In the story the characters deal with unexpected changes and eventually one of them accepts the change and his life gets better.

AWAKE THE GIANT WITHIN BY TONY ROBBINS.

11. AWAKE THE GIANT WITHIN BY TONY ROBBINS.

This is book that I believe should be forced into the hands of everyone in the world. If everyone could read this book for 15 minutes every day then the world will surely be a better place. This book teaches you how to be happy and live your life to the fullest.

AS A MAN THINKETH BY JAMES ALLEN.

12. AS A MAN THINKETH BY JAMES ALLEN.

I knew I would enjoy this book before I even picked it up to read because I always enjoy books about the power of thoughts. In this book James Allen shows us that the mind guides our footsteps as we progress along the pathway of life.

He shows us how we can live a good life by having a pure mind, and how having a defiled thought or impurity in our thought can lead to a defiled life, a defiled body and sickness, and also affect the environment in which we live in.

THE SEVEN HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PEOPLE BY STEPHEN.R. COVEY

13. THE SEVEN HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PEOPLE BY STEPHEN.R. COVEY

I also learnt how to prioritize and have a winning mindset anytime I want to pursue a particular goal.

13. I WILL TEACH YOU TO BE RICH BY RAMIT SETHI.

The name and cover of this book are really attractive, but don't read this book expecting to find some fast way or simple way to make billions off whatever currency your country uses because you will be really disappointed. But this is a book everyone should read, this book will give you financial wisdom on how you can use whatever amount of money you make now and create a simple budget, save your money, and grow your money.

This wonderful book tells the story of Ben Carson and how he went from being a dull kid with poor school grades and little motivation to being the director of neurosurgery at John Hopkins University Hospital. In this book, Ben Carson carries us on a journey of how he made some successful surgeries that made headlines round the world. My favorite was the separation of the Siamese twins joined at the back of the head.

Ben Carson also explains the role his hardworking mother played in his success. To cut the story short, Ben Carson's story inspires us all to know we can be successful even with humble beginnings.

MARKETING SECRETS BY PETER SPALTON.

15. MARKETING SECRETS BY PETER SPALTON.

I forced myself to pick up this book at first because I knew the importance of knowing about marketing before you can start your business. You may have enough money to hire a professional marketing team, but it will be more difficult to control them if you don't know the basics of marketing. Marketing is also one of the skills an entrepreneur requires in running a successful business.

In this book Peter covered all the basics involved in marketing a business or brand like how to target you market for a particular niche or market and why you should do that, and also how you should use memorable publicity to build market interests.

HOW THEY STARTED BY DAVID LESTER.

16. HOW THEY STARTED BY DAVID LESTER.

This books comes in three versions, I have read two and I am still planning on ordering the third online. In each of the books, David tell stories of how 25 major brands we now know worldwide came to have the reputation they now do, and most of all these brands were started by normal people like you and me who had big dreams.

This book contains inspirational success stories ranging from retail and gaming to social media and the restaurant business. How They Started relives the humble beginnings of companies such as Coca-Cola and Disney, Google and Twitter and many more. The stories were gotten through personal interviews with key sources including founders, investors and past employees.

MY BIG IDEA: 30 SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEURS REVEAL HOW THEY FOUND INSPIRATION BY RACHEL BRIDGE.

17. MY BIG IDEA: 30 SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEURS REVEAL HOW THEY FOUND INSPIRATION BY RACHEL BRIDGE.

This book is similar to HOW THEY STARTED by DAVID LESTER, but I prefer this one because Rachel Bridge is a very good story writer. In this book Rachel goes deep to write what really inspired the owners of this companies to start these companies in the first place, and she also writes the personal philosophy of each of the entrepreneurs in this book.

This book explains how 30 successful entrepreneurs turned their dreams into reality. They tell how they decided to do what they do, how they got capital and how they went about it. It also reveals their doubts, mistakes, and frustrations encountered along the way. It explains how these individuals overcame their difficulties and turned a dream into a commercially viable reality.
