Good day house, I applied for Msc software engineering for sept 2017 at University of Alberta since 14th of December. It's been over six months now, and my application is still under review. I contacted them a month ago and I was told my application is out for review. I applied for conditional admission because I will be graduating this year, could this be the reason why it's taking so long?

I think it takes approximately 4 months for a decision to be made in UofA.

I applied last year (M.Eng Control Systems ECE) 19th May 2016 and a decision was made on my application 20th of September 2016. So I will say you would hear from them this month.

Meanwhile, A friend got his admission offer today, M.Eng Chemical Engineering from UofA. He applied Dec 2016.

So just be patient.

Good day house, I applied for MEng electrical and computer engineering at university of Alberta for September this year. I submitted my application since Dec 14 2016, and I haven't gotten back from them. All it says on my portal is application under review. Please does the process usually take this long?

I am not quite sure if you went through my previous posts but I'd go again. If you're in the IT field and I believe you did your undergrad in Nigeria (not sure), you need certifications, certifications, certifications and IT work experience. I know it's kinda cliche but it is what it is.

Don't get me wrong, Masters is a good thing but I would also advise you that when you start your Masters program, polish your resume with some certifications and try to find IT coop jobs or summer internships if possible. That is the trick to getting a job in IT especially in Canada and US.

Yes I did my undergrad in mechanical engineering here in Nigeria, that's why I decided to have my masters since I still have a lot to learn as software engineering isn't that related to mechanical engineering. I'll go with your advice of getting co-op jobs during the course of my masters. If you still have any more advice, I wouldn't mind. Thanks once more.

I'd go for Computer Programming. B.Eng in Mech Engineering can cover for any O&G related Engineering job, so no need going in for Msc Petroleum in a case where you got options. Petroleum Engineering is stereotype to only the Oil and Gas Industry unlike Computer Programming which can create variety to accesss to several Industries including O&G. Furthermore, You also have the opportunity to have a startup business of your own with your Computing Knowledge If you have an entrepreneurial mindset.

the motor is burnt and has to be replaced, or it is mechanically jammed, or the switch where you place your fingers is damaged, or water got into the module that controls it and messed it up electrically. It will require some electrical diagnosis.

Can the average mechanic help with this and what is the cost implication of getting a new module. Thanks
