No need trying to bring down people's opinions on the thread. If you disagree, state your points to enlighten us.

Personally, based on eye test, I think Aina is a better defender than Trent Arnold Alexander. But, I think Trent brings more tactically when you consider his intuition, vision, the way he reads the game, his passes, his crosses. This is what separates Trent from Aina. When it comes to defending and marking, and also skill on the ball, I feel Aina is better but overall I think Trent is hands down the better player.

Note, this is based strictly on eye test from watching both players. Stats might paint a different picture but watching them, the above is my opinion.
ofcos Trent is better than Aina everybody knows this

I don’t argue with foolishness. Go on transfer market and compare both players rating. If that isn’t enough, ask opta stats and other EPL pundits. One player is rated 75 million while the other is 14 million and you want to debate who’s rated higher?
So you no see this season? Did he say Over all? Mcheew

Who has been a better player this season
That was the question
leave the guy

He just went off point just to score cheap points

Even for FPL Aina has more points than Alexander this season

A Heartfelt Message of Gratitude and Hope for the New Year

As we step into a brand new year, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your thoughts, prayers, and kind words. Your support has played a significant role in my healing journey, and I am thankful.

I am thrilled to share with you that my health has taken a turn for the better. My blood sugar levels are back to normal, and my blood pressure is under control. I have started walking again and am slowly rebuilding my strength. I am grateful for the progress I've made and am looking forward to putting the challenges of the past behind me.

As I reflect on the lessons I've learned, I want to assure you that I am doing well. I want to wish you all a blessed and prosperous new year, filled with good health, happiness, and success. May this year bring you vision, purpose, and fulfillment.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank my incredible friend TheSuperNerd who I consider my medical consultant, who has been instrumental in my recovery. His expertise and care has been invaluable, and I am grateful for his dedication to my well-being.

Once again, I want to thank each of you for your love and support. I will be back on the forum soon, and I look forward to connecting with you all again.

Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Here is what to do:
Each member of the committee will nominate 3 individuals/teams for each award categories

At the end of the nomination, the individuals/teams with the most nomination will make up the final nomination list.
Any dateline?

Update on TheGoodJoe

NB: Please kindly put banters aside and take this seriously. Resist also the insensitive temptation to link this to Man City's current run of form. This is no joking matter, I plead

Now, I know a couple of monikers have been asking for weeks now about the whereabouts of TheGoodJoe. Truth is, I didn't want to share anything even though I knew all along what was happening with him and that is because I had not gotten his consent yet to share it (I have that now). He was going through a whole lot healthwise and I kept touch with him from the onset.
I just didn't wanna bring something so sensitive and private without his consent to the thread.

About 2 weeks ago or so, TheGoodJoe suffered a diabetic mini-stroke that really knocked him down. It led to him entering a semi-coma which kept him bed ridden for days but now he is up and fine again and has even been discharged as recently as yesterday.

He is fine but still undergoing serious followup checks with his doctors and more.

Please, kindly channel some of your prayers 🙏🏽🙏🏽to TheGoodJoe's health. Pray that this diabetic episode won't see the last of him. It is well. Amen.

In all, TheGoodJoe is sound currently. He can walk again and move around. He couldn't as at several days and weeks back. He is okay but still needs checks to ensure no relapse occurs. We thank God for his Life.

He also wishes you all a Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year ahead.
So Sad

It shall be well in Jesus name

I just copied the award categories from last year, that's why 2023 is showing on both categories .. once we are set, it will be changed to 2024.

Your suggestion for young female player of the year is good... I like it... We can look at the performance of our falconers and flamingoes this year and select some talented players...
yeah since they both played world cup this year

2024 Nairaland Nigeria Football Fans Award

Update

Gents,

The next step now is to select members of the nomination committee.
The committee will be responsible for selecting the the awards categories as well as nominees for each category.

Traditionally, selecting of members of the nomination committee was done through voting. I personally like that method because it ensure that all members of the thread have the chance to select the most passionate and knowledgeable monikers to nominate players for the award.
However, every year, there's always this problem of those who are voted to be part of the committee not being active... Last year, almost 80% of monikers that were voted to be part of the committee quit... Others were either inactive or unavailable.
I understand that we all have our lives to live and work stuffs won't allow some of us participate actively.
On this note, I've decided that this year, the nomination committee will be made up of members who Volunteer to join.. that way, we can be ensured of some level of commitment.

Here's how it will be done: If you're interested in being a member of the committee, quote this post with one word "Interested". Other members of the thread will give credence to your nomination by liking the post.
The top 8 monikers with the most likes and shares will make up the nomination committee alongside I and icon4s who, by default is a honourary member of the committee, being the founder of this award.

Voting closes on Monday December 16th 2024 at 6pm Nigeria time

Thank you

CC: Icon4s, semid4lyfe

PS: if anyone has an objection to the chosen method of selecting committee members, do not hesitate to let me know...maybe we can work out another method
