Politics2023: Tinubu Promises To Develop Mining Sector, Break Poverty by Majesty2(op): 7:52am On Nov 11, 2022
The Presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has promised to develop the country’s mining sector, if elected in 2023.
This, he said, was to create job opportunities, boost socio-economic activities and improve on the standard of living of Nigerians.

Tinubu made the pledge at a town hall meeting on Mining and Security in Lafia on Thursday.

The former Lagos State governor said he would prioritise the resuscitation of the nation’s economy through the development of the solid mineral sector, adding that the nation is richly blessed and can cater for itself.

“Solid minerals and mining will play key roles in our campaign toward prosperity and our economic offensive against poverty and underdevelopment.

“The solid minerals sector contributed less than 1 per cent to our GDP in 2020. We need to increase this amount every year.

“My administration will develop the solid minerals sector, establish policies that will encourage investment for growth in that sector,”
said Tinubu.

He also said his administration would enact legislative reforms and forge strategic partnerships with private sector investors with requisite skills and proven capacity to support investment in the mining sector.

“We, the APC, shall continue to stand before the Nigerian people to discuss the real issues of the day and offer insight into the policy solutions we intend to deploy to solve them. In this, we remain the best and only hope for progressive good governance in Nigeria.

“Few nations are as well-endowed as Nigeria, given our industrious, energetic population and our vast inventory of land, water and natural resources.

”Our beloved nation has abundant, commercially viable solid mineral deposits such as coal, limestone, iron ore, bitumen, lead, zinc, gold and a variety of gemstones.
“It is the obligation of government to use these gifts wisely to benefit the nation and improve the living. standards of the average Nigerian,”
he said.

The presidential flag-bearer stressed that: “We have the capacity, knowledge, intelligence to take this country to the promised land.

“I will eliminate poverty and I will break the shackle of poverty, we know how to do it. I am a promise. keeper.”

Tinubu appreciated Gov. Abdullahi Sule for giving him the opportunity to share his vision.

He solicited for votes from all and country to enable him become the president of the country.

The APC presidential candidate commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for his efforts in developing the state. and called for its sustenance.

Host Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State said Tinubu’s engagement with the mining community would also afford the opportunity to know the economic potentials of the state in mining and security.

The governor listed solid minerals in commercial quantity in the state, which include lead, gold, Barite, Marble and iron.

“I thank Asiwaju Tinubu for visiting our states and. our people have always wanted to see you to ask you questions and you are here to answer their questions,” Sule said.

On his part, Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau and Director General, Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation, described the Lafia town hall meeting as another worthy engagement between the APC presidential candidate and critical stakeholders in the state.

He also said Nasarawa state is the home of huge solid mineral deposits that have remained untapped with attendant insecurity caused by illegal miners.
Lalong promised that Tinubu would squarely address issues bordering the mining sector during his tenure, if given the mandate.

“Tinubu is a man with untainted records of solving challenges. We are lucky he is ready to serve our country at this time,” he said.

The APC National Chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, however charged Tinubu to get ready to lead Nigeria. to the promised land.

He re-echoed the position of President Muhammadu Buhari that all indicators and indications point to the fact that the APC presidential candidate is the next president of Nigeria.

Adamu said that the state was endowed with mining opportunities.
In his remarks, Sen. Tanko Al-Makura (APC-Nasarawa South) and Chairman, Senate Committee on Mines and Solid Minerals, called for unbundling of the mining sector to allow for more participation in. the sector.

“I have sponsored a Bill on Nigeria Mineral Development Corporation, which has passed first and second readings in the Senate as the Bill, if passed, will boost the mining sector,” he said.

He also called on Nigerians to develop more interest in mining considering its importance to human and societal development.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the forum had in attendance Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila; Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina State; Prof. Babagana Zulum of Borno; former Speaker of House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole; Emir of Lafia and Chairman of Nasarawa Council of Chiefs, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad (rtd), among others.

PoliticsGet Ready To Be President, Adamu Tells Tinubu by Majesty2(op): 6:18pm On Nov 10, 2022
The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu on Thursday told the party’s presidential candidate Asíwájú Bola Ahmed Tinubu to get ready for governance from 29 May 2023.
Adamu, who spoke emphatically at the town hall meeting in Lafia between the APC presidential candidate and stakeholders in the mining sector, said he was merely echoing President Muhammadu Buhari’s statement.

A statement in Abuja by the Director of Media and Publicity of the APC Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga quoted Adamu as saying: “Except God, President Buhari is the highest authority in Nigeria today. Buhari has said it and it shall come to pass.”
Urging Tinubu to stand and the audience to join him, Adamu declared the APC candidate will be the next president.
He urged Nigerians to vote massively for the party
and its candidate.
He urged Tinubu to get ready for the task to shoulder the demands of leading Nigeria.
His statement drew wild applause for minutes in the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Lafia.
Tinubu promised that help was on the way to industrialise the State for prosperity.

PoliticsGanduje Resolves Kano APC Crisis, Reconciles Grieving Parties by Majesty2(op): 11:17am On Nov 08, 2022
The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has brokered peace in the ruling All Progressives Congress, following a crisis that recently rocked the party in the state.
The crisis broke out last week between the majority leader, who is the member representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency, Alhassan Doguwa and the deputy governorship candidate of the APC, Murtala Garo.

Doguwa, on Monday confirmed the reconciliation to newsmen in a Kano radio political programme monitored by our reporter on Tuesday morning.

Doguwa had been accused of throwing a teacup at Garo during a stakeholders meeting at the residence of the state’s deputy governor, Nasiru Gawuna, reportedly injuring the former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

The majority leader denied the allegations and vowed to continue fighting Garo to the end.

However, in the radio programme aired, Doguwa said the reconciliation was spearheaded by Ganduje, who summoned the two warring parties in a meeting with
some party leaders in Kano.

“His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, has reconciled Murtala Sule Garo and I.
“He summoned the reconciliatory meeting between us. The meeting was attended by Nasiru Koki and the state APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas. The meeting started from around 11pm up till 4am today (Monday).

“We reviewed the crisis and apologised to each other. The governor told us kind words. He showed each of us where we were wrong. He gave us fatherly advice and said he considers us as his two. sons,”
Doguwa revealed.

He therefore declared that he had put the matter behind him and forged ahead to continue commitment towards the success of APC in Kano and the country.

“The matter is over for me. I will continue my support for the success of APC in 2023. I will continue to support Gawuna/Garo project, Tinubu/Shettima and APC at all levels in 2023,” he declared.

Doguwa also said he had forgiven Garo and all other party members that offended him, calling on them to forgive him too.

He also asked for forgiveness from Kano people and supporters of APC in Kano for causing disaffection in the party.

PoliticsNo Opposition In Zamfara, Concentrate On Other States, Marafa Tells Tinubu by Majesty2(op): 4:14pm On Nov 07, 2022
THE Coordinator of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential campaign council in Zamfara State, Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa, has urged the Presidential Candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to concentrate on other states, saying there is no opposition in Zamfara State.

Marafa, while speaking during the launch of the Tinubu/Shettima campaign in Zamfara, said by Allah’s grace, the people of the state will overwhelmingly vote for Tinubu during the February 25, 2023, presidential/ national assembly elections.

The former lawmaker also urged the Zamfara State governor, Bello Matawalle, who is the coordinator of the Presidential Campaign Council in the North West geopolitical zone to concentrate on the six other states in the region.

“There is no opposition in Zamfara State. Can you fight a war without a commander? No. The opposition in Zamfara now has no commander. Therefore, the war in Zamfara has been won,” he said.

While urging Governor Matawalle to allow the PDP candidate, Dauda Lawal, who he described as a friend and brother to return to APC, he said the PDP in the state has since realised that there is no vacancy in Zamfara State Government House.

“As Muslims, our religion teaches us that we should love our brothers how we love ourselves. This is why I’m calling on the state Governor to give our brother a chance (PDP governorship candidate, Dauda Lawal) to return home.

We will give him two to three weeks to come and seek forgiveness so that we can forgive him. Let him return home so that we can work together,”
he said.

On the Zamfara governorship election, Marafa said there’s no vacancy in the state government house.

“A brother of mine told me leadership position is like a seat in a barbing saloon. When a customer finishes his haircut, another will sit on the same seat to also have his haircut.

“Presently, someone is sitting on the Zamfara State governorship seat. Bello Matawalle is the one Allah SWT has given it to. With what we saw today (the multitude of people that came out to welcome them) anybody thinking he wants to occupy the seat should have a second thought. Wait until he (Matawalle) finishes his second term in office, you can then vie for it. But presently, you (Dauda Lawal) have not learned enough, you need to come back for more training” he said.

He challenged the candidate of the PDP for Zamfara Central Senatorial District to a debate, saying, “let every one of us say what he has done for our people.”
