PoliticsTinubu Gets Diaspora Support For Presidential Bid by Majesty2(op): 6:38pm On Apr 21, 2022
Some Nigerians in Dublin, Ireland have thrown their weight behind the presidential bid of former Lagos Governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
They said the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a highly experienced and internationally exposed politician and leader who has all it takes to lead the country.

They spoke in a statement by the Convener, Tinubu Support Group Ireland, Nosa Aigbokhan on Thursday in Abuja.

The statement reads: “As it stands, Nigeria is too divided to have somebody without experience and the right contacts both national and international. The office of the president is not an experimental lab
where people will come and learn on the job. We need somebody who can heal the hate and division across ethnic and religious lines. We want a President who will groom the next generation of leaders from his cabinets.

“We expect to have a president that will be able to assemble a team within a week, a team that he knows, that he trusts, a team that comes from his political school of thought and not borrowed team, a team that has worked with him in public and private space and performed exceptionally.

A team that cut across tribes gender, religion and ethnic lines. “Tinubu is the only aspirant that has a database of talents, strategists and innovators to choose from and I urge every young Nigerian with expertise from any sector in Nigeria that is crying for attention to key into Tinubu’s talents bank. Tinubu is a detribalise Nigerian that has contact and strong influence across the nation.

“Nigerians need Tinubu’s experience in the developmental affair, and his global contacts. His giant strides in Lagos State even in the face of federal persecution when Lagos state was denied state allocations for years is a testimony to his judicious use of scarce resources. Tinubu was battered politically still, Lagos was moving forward, and infrastructures were springing up and salaries were never owned.”

The Convener noted that with his international connections and expertise in the tourism sector, Nigeria under Tinubu will become a tourist hub, spinning billions of Naira for the Nigerian economy.

“I am a tourism expert and part of the management team of one of the busiest tourist attractions in the world, ready to work for Tinubu to fix Nigeria’s tourism sector. Tourism does not need a budget after take off as it is self-sustaining. Currently, Nigeria only appoints a minister of culture which doesn’t add up as we cannot sell our culture but we can sell our tourism to showcase our culture,” the statement added.

Yorubas Won’t Mind Muslim - Muslim Ticket
- Bola Tinubu Told Northern Elders

Presidential hopeful, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has told leaders of thought in the northern part of the country that his South West Yoruba people will not mind a Muslim - Muslim ticket.

Addressing some elders of the North some days ago in Abuja at a secret meeting arranged by his long time friend Senator Abu Ibrahim Tinubu said they should leave the task of convincing the Yoruba to him if selected by his APC party to carry the banner of the party in the 2023 elections.

The issue of who will be his running mate according to our sources became a major issue. They told him flatly they will not accept a Christian northerner to be his running mate .

He was said to have promised to pick a Northwest politician who will be a Muslim. It was then a prominent politician and former governor asked him how that will be taken in the South.

Tinubu, said our sources , told his guests the South East and South South who are largely Christians will not matter. It is the South West, he was quoted to have said , that could raise issues but he will manage that and they will not mind.

Tinubu , at the meeting was said to have argued that the vote of the North West, North East , some largely Muslim states in the North Central as well as South West were enough to make him President.

“ All I need is your support,” he was quoted as having said. “ Leave the rest to me, I will handle it.” His guests were said not to have been convinced by his assurance as no regime in the country since independence has governed with both head and deputy as Muslims.

It is believed that come February , the party APC , under which he want to seek the office is most certain to pick a Muslim Chairman from the North Central part of the country. Aspirants for this position are already emerging from Niger , Kwara and Nasarawa states . These candidates are all Muslims . If Tinubu therefore emerges as APC candidate
and picks a Muslim candidate from the North West it means all of the important positions in the party are held by Muslims to the exclusion of the Christian.

Part of the argument of the pro -Tinubu elements is that this has happened before when the late billionaire Muslim Aare Moshood Abiola selected Alhaji Babagana Kingibe as his running mate . One of the northern leaders present at the meeting said ,while this is true, that time is different from now. There are all manners of tensions in the land and the security of the nation is fragile.

If anybody does that now it will be like deliberately setting the country on fire. “ The IPOB issue is still raging in the South East, young elements are restless in the SW and calling for Oodua Republic, banditry , Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgency has enveloped the North. Why would anyone want to add religious crisis to it”, he asked.

“Only a non patriot will experiment with this. I told him my mind. This will not work. Let him accept this or not but I won’t be part of the effort to set Nigeria on fire”, he added.

NIGERIA’S 1ST FEMALE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY MEMBER
Chief Wuraola Adepeju Esan (1909–1985) was a Nigerian politician, feminist, and teacher. By serving as the 10th Iyalode of Ibadan, she combined her political ambitions with those of a traditional noblewoman.
Wuraola Adepeju Esan was born in Calabar in 1909 and attended Baptist Girls College in Idi Aba, Abeokuta, before transferring to United Missionary College to pursue a diploma in teacher training.
In 1934, she married Victor Esan and they lived in Lagos for a short time. She returned to her hometown of Ibadan a few years later.
Although educational opportunities for women were limited during the colonial era, Esan founded the Ibadan People's Girls Grammar School in Molete in 1944 to educate women in a variety of subjects, including domestic science.
In the 1950s, she became involved in partisan politics as a member of the Action Group's women's wing.
Despite the fact that women were important tools for gaining votes, few were given official power and
party-wide responsibility.
Esan, on the other hand, rose through the ranks to become the first female member of the Nigerian
National Assembly in 1960, as a senator from Ibadan West. She was a founding member of the National Council of Women Societies as well.
In 1975, she became the 10th Iyalode of Ibadan – a high-rank traditional office that was first occupied by Iyalode Subuola around the year 1850.
