THE THEORY OF ACADEMIC FAILURE
PROPOUNDED BY HON. MAJI SOLOMON (ALL- ROUNDER) A RESEARCH SCIENTIST
Hon Maji Solomon states that, Academic failure means Academic performance that lacks success.
It involves lacks of success in carrying out educational
tasks. It also involves lack of success after the programme of studies and activities are being offered.

He equally states that, Academic failure gives birth to the following
(1)F 9
(2) Carry over (c.o)
(3)Repeat/Probation
(4) School Drop outs or college drop outs
(5) Weeding of incapable and incompetent students e. t. c

Hon. Maji Solomon states that Academic failure is inseparable from educational institutions. It lies in the hands of students , teachers , executive heads of schools, government, parents e .t .c

He equally states that, the following factors are the causes of Academic failure .

1. Low intelligence, which accounts for poor performance.
2. Setting of difficult, irrelevant and confusing questions which bring about writing of irrelevant answers.
3. The use of untrained and unqualified teachers which bring about improper teaching.
4. Spirit of lust, Arising from the Students
5. Lack of commitment towards learning.
6. Unnecessary deduction of marks by the teachers as a result of hatred.
7. Lack of conductive teaching and learning environments
8. Markers errors during marking and grading
9. Misfiring of questions
10. Inability to meet up sexual demand of the teachers which accounts for the marking down of answer scripts.
11. Inability to meet up monetary demand of teachers which accounts for the deduction of marks
12. Unnecessary refusal to teach by the teachers which affects students’ performance educationally
13. Bereavement, which causes sorrow and demoralization on the part of the bereaved students
14. keeping of bad company of friends with deviant behaviours
15. The use of abusive statements on the students by the teachers, which affect students’ curiosity
16. Divorce, which destabilizes children of the divorcees in schools
17. Inferiority complex / low self esteem
18. Lack of commitment towards teachings’ due to poor incentive / poor teachers’ welfare packages
19. Forgetfulness
20. Lack of money / abject poverty
21. Truancy
22. Absenteeism
23. Illness
24. Lateness
25. Hunger

29. Anxiety and panic during the test and examination

To reduce the high level of academic failure in our institutions of learning, government at all levels should be able to check the schools and the various activities going on in the schools system so as to correct the anomalies if found.

The teachers, the executive heads of schools, the students and the parents are expected to put in their best.

Hon. Maji Solomon states that, high grades are involved in Academic excellence and the world is a habitable place of enormous possibilities. Students (learners) achieve high grades through the normal and the abnormal ways below:-

High grades are achieved by students through serious studies with high intelligence and diligence ______ These are the normal ways of achieving high grades.
Some students achieve high grades through examination malpractice _______ This is abnormal
Some students achieve high grades through bribery _____ This is abnormal
Some female students always fall in love with some male teachers in order to achieving high grades _______ this is abnormal.
Some students who serve as informants (informers) to the teachers always achieve high grades through familiarity, sycophancy, information dissemination and report. _______ these are the abnormal ways of achieving high grades
High grades are achieved through relative, connections, partiality, tribalism, extortion e.t.c. _______ these are the abnormal ways of achieving high grades
Hon. Maji Solomon states that there is a wide spread belief that students of high intelligence are capable of graduating with high grades and they are superior to those students of low intelligence. But based on corruption, some students of low intelligence are making A’s (AAAAAA…..). Based on corruption, some students of low intelligence are graduating with high grades.

Based on corruption, some students of high intelligence are failing. Based on corruption, some students of high intelligence are graduating with low grades. The intervention of school management and the government at all levels is highly needed so as to ameliorate the ugly situations. In the same vein, employers of labour are expected to check the contents of the educational products not the bodies, for effective and efficient input and output.
