It was reported that Peter Obi, in his meeting with PDP NWC, stated that Nigeria now ranks ‘in same place’ with Afghanistan and Yemen in the Global Terrorism Index. Consequently he advocated that it’s imperative that gets it right in 2023 if we must continue to have a country called Nigeria.

But as is their stock in trade to use propaganda to discredit facts, an uniformed supporter of Tinubu, opened a thread to call Peter Obi a liar; arguing that the facts quoted by Peter Obi are incorrect.

What is funny however, is how this person surreptitiously left out the rankings and dwelt on how a certain article was stating how Boko Haram bombings have decreased. But this person forgot that the activities of banditry has quadrupled in the same period under review.

Again, in his words, Peter Obi said Nigeria now ranks ‘in same place’, this does not in anyway translate into Nigeria occupying same exact spot with Afghanistan and Yemen but that they are within same spot on the ranking table. One then wonders if these people do not understand simple grammar or are being outrightly mischievous; or maybe both.

So, before that lie festers, I’m here to let you know that Peter Gregory Obi was right when he said that Nigeria now ranks in same place with Afghanistan and Yemen in the Global Terrorism Index and below is the table as lifted from the website of GTI ranking for 2022.
