Education / Drama In Osun School As Students Show Up In Choir Robes And Religious Garments by mamabomboy: 11:39am On Jun 14, 2016
Some students of Baptist High School, Adeeke,
Iwo caused a stir among their colleagues as they
appeared in the school in choir robes and other
church garments.
Our correspondent, who visited the school
observed that the students came late to the
school around 8:35 on Tuesday and headed to
their various classes as their colleagues hailed
them for their courage.
Many female Muslim students of the school wore
hijab on their uniforms and some members of the
Christian Association of Nigeria are in the school
to monitor the reaction of the teachers to the
mode of dressing of their children.
No student was chased out of the classes for
appearing in different clothes and all the students
irrespective of their chosen uniforms are being
taught by their teachers.
Earlier, Justice Jide Falola of the Osun State High
Court had on June 3 given a verdict that Muslim
students should be allowed to wear hijab in all
public schools in the state because it was part of
their fundamental rights.
The CAN had held an emergency meeting
following the judgment and threatened that it
would direct Christian pupils to start wearing
choir robes and other religious garments to
schools should the state government implement
the judgment.

Politics / EFCC To Arraign Fani-kayode Over N1.5bn Fraud by mamabomboy: 8:27am On Jun 14, 2016
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is set to arraign a former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Finance, Senator Nenadi Usman, a firm, Joint Trust Dimensions Limited, and one Jimoh Yusuf over issue bordering on N1.5bn alleged fraud. The EFCC will also on Wednesday arraign a former Senior Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs to ex- President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Waripamowei Dudafa, for an alleged N1.6bn fraud. Punch quoted a source as saying that Fani- Kayode, Usman and Yusuf would be charged with 17 counts bordering on money laundering and fraud. The source added, “We have filed charges against Fani-Kayode, Usman, Yusuf and a company, Joint Trust Dimensions Limited. Yusuf was the signatory to the account of Joint Trust Dimensions Limited. They will be arraigned before a Federal High Court in Lagos this week.” Recall that that the anti-graft agency had arrested Fani-Kayode and Usman for their role in the sharing of a N4bn campaign fund during the build-up to the 2015 presidential election. The money was said to have emanated from the account of the Office of the National Security Adviser domiciled in the Central Bank of Nigeria. The money was allegedly transferred to the account of JTDL and then distributed to some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party. Usman, who was the Director of Finance of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation, was alleged to have transferred N840m into the bank account of Fani-Kayode. Fani-Kayode allegedly received the funds in three tranches. The first tranche of the payment, involving N350m, hit the account on February 19, 2015. Another N250m was also paid into the account on February 19, 2015, while N240m was credited to the account a month later; precisely on March 19, 2015. Apart from Fani-Kayode, others, who also received the funds, were the Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, Chief Olu Falae (N100m); a former Governor of Imo State, Achike Udenwa; while a former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Viola Onwuliri, also got N350m in two tranches while Nenadi Usman took N36.9m. A coalition of pro-Jonathan groups, headed by a former Special Adviser to the President on Political matters, Prof. Rufai Alkali, also received N320m. The accounts of those accused of receiving the funds had since been frozen by the EFCC. Usman has returned about N23m to the EFCC while two of her properties in Abuja have been seized by the anti-graft agency.

Politics / Forcados Break Denies NPDC N60bn Oil Revenue In Three Months by mamabomboy: 10:18pm On Jun 13, 2016
As OPEC welcomes timing of nation’s oil outages
Chineme Okafor in Abuja

The Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) has failed to earn up to N60 billion oil sales revenue in three months due to delay in the repair of the vandalised Forcados crude oil export line, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has said.

The NDPC is the exploration and production subsidiary of the NNPC. The corporation disclosed this in the April 2016 edition of its monthly operations and financial report which was released last week.

It maintained that up till now, the export line, which was vandalised in February with 300,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil production deferred, was still down, three months after.

The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) had on February 21 2016, declared a force majeure on oil liftings from Forcados following the February 14, 2016 disruption in terminal’s subsea crude export pipeline.

But following from NNPC’s disclosure in its latest publication that NPDC was still unable to earn N20 billion monthly oil income because of the development, in addition to the last two publications for February and March which THISDAY reviewed, it was discovered that NPDC may have cumulatively lost N60 billion within the three months.

In February, NNPC said in the report: “The huge deficit in the month of February 2016 was due to production shut-in occasioned by vandalism of Forcados export line. This situation denied NPDC the opportunity to earn revenue from crude oil sales of about ₦20 billion.”

In March, it stated: “Following the recent declaration of force majeure by SPDC due to vandalisation of 48 inch Forcados export line resulted in production shut-in of about 300,000bpd. This adversely impacted on nation’s February 2016 production leading to a loss of about N20 billion of NPDC oil revenue.”
And in April, it explained: “NPDC’s crude sale for the month is still hampered by Forcados pipeline vandalism which continued to deny NPDC of monthly crude oil revenue of about ₦20 billion.”

All this pictures are being taken and compiled for the future when they will be put together to show a morally bankrupt and unrealistic irrational greedy political family. The greatest enemies of Buhari are his wife Aisha and his very naïve, foolish daughter, Zahra. I pity the old man.

This is a pure lie. Over 200 officers, mostly of eastern extraction were dismissed without any valid reason. It took the NA 24hrs to cookup the first lie, which it leaked to the media, in which it claimed about 56 officers were retired. It then took the NA about 48hrs to cookup this new silly lie. Don't forget that the NA when asked to publicise the list, said that it would be against the rules and ethics of the NA to do that. But now, they have gone against their ethics and given a number of 38. We will expose and disgrace this bigoted and overtly clumsy NA.

The power play in the PDP is difficult to understand. No one could ever think that Sheriff would be treated treacherously by the same people who installed him in office. The whole thing is now a classic case of the more you look the less you see. The best we can do is just to keep our fingers crossed and watch how the whole thing plays out.
GBAM, no one knows where this whole drama is heading to, not even the political hierarchy of the PDP. Only the likes of Ekweremadu, Jonathan and Akpabio have a clue on what is going on. Wike even went as far as faking a 10billion naira loan, just to pretend he was hosting a convention. That's to show you how deep the rabbithole goes with this PDP matrix. But trust the OP, he is so deluded and desperate for PDP service boy appointment, that he is no more using his wit and intelligence to analyse the political power play of the New PDP Young Guns Cabal.

Point of correction
It was not the ''Arewa Soldiers'' that created this system of governance that we now practise. It was an ibo Soldier - Aguyi Ironsi, the first military Head of state of Nigeria who abolished the regional system of government we had in the 1st republic. Ironsi concentrated power to the center under the Unification Decree 34 of 1966, the ''Arewa Soldiers'' came much later and they further cemented what Ironsi initally created
The Arewa soldiers who were the loudest opposition to Aguiyi Ironsi's unitary government structure killed him, and though had the chance to reverse the decree, did nothing about it. Infact, they corrupted it, and perfected a corrupt carricature of the decree. Get your facts right aswell.

Politics / FG, And Not The States, Will Fund The A- Meal-a-day Programme- Mohammed by mamabomboy: 8:14am On Jun 13, 2016
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai

Politics / Niger Delta Pipeline Bombings Are Because Of Probe: Lai Mohammed by mamabomboy: 7:40am On Jun 13, 2016
The Federal Government has said that the Niger Delta Avengers are bombing the petroleum facilities in the oil-rich region due to the President Muhammadu Buhari’s stance on anticorruption crusade. It expressed optimism that the challenges posed by the destruction of the pipelines would soon be overcome. Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, made the disclosure yesterday at a Ramadan Lecture held in honour of late Kafaru Tinubu at the Eko FM, Agidingbi, saying that in spite of the challenges confronting the nation, the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration is making so much sacrifice to better the lots of Nigerians, especially the less privileged and other vulnerable. “The main reason they are against this government is because they are opposed to our anticorruption war. They want us to go back to the old ways of corruption where the nation’s wealth will be shared by the few in government. President Buhari believes that public’s wealth shouldn’t be squandered, but we are very sure that the truth will prevail. Despite the challenges, the current government is not resting on its oars. I want to assure you that this government is pro- people,” the minister said. Speaking on the theme of the lecture, “Supreme Sacrifice and the Essence of Followership in Governance,” Mohammed said N500 billion set aside for the poor and the less privilege would be judiciously used to better the lots of the Nigerian masses, adding that 500,000 unemployed graduates will be employed and trained. The minister blamed the current economic challenges on the activities of the militants in the Niger Delta, saying that activities of the Avengers had further compounded the problems in the power sector as the nation is finding it difficult to generate 2,000 megawatts. According to him, “This government is making a lot of sacrifice to ensure Nigerians feel its impact. The power won’t be stable because gas is used in powering the plants. But the destructive individuals called Avengers; they have destroyed almost all the pipelines such that out 5,000 megawatts that we are capable of generating, the continued destruction of the pipeline has made it difficult to generate 2,000 megawatts. “It is not only the power that was affected by this; the economy is also affected because today, one million barrel of oil cannot be produced because of the activities of the Avengers, but we are optimistic that we will overcome them.”

Politics / Nigerians Will Experience Better Times Soon – Lai Mohammed by mamabomboy: 5:53pm On Jun 12, 2016
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Sunday said the Federal Government was working diligently toward making life more meaningful for Nigerians through carefully designed projects. Mohammed made the assertion in Lagos at the 8th Alhaji Kafaru Tinubu Memorial Ramadan Lecture with the theme: “Supreme Sacrifice and the Essence of Followership in Governance’’. He said that the government was aware of the plight of many citizens due to the challenges in the economy. According to him, a N500 billion Social Intervention Programme has been put in place to help alleviate poverty. The minister said the huge money earmarked for the intervention programme in the 2016 budget was one of the sacrifices the government had to make in the face of falling revenue. “This government is making a lot of sacrifices and it is also expecting a lot of sacrifices from the people. “The N500 billion Social Intervention Programme which is broken into five parts covers employment of 500, 000 unemployed graduates who will be trained as teachers. “It also covers the employment of 100, 000 artisans as well as the One-Meal-A-Day programme for pupils in primary schools. “The Enterprise Scheme which is targeted at one million market men and women, 460, 000 artisans, 200, 000 agriculture workers is also covered in the programme. “It also covers the N5,000 monthly conditional cash transfer to the poor and vulnerable,’’ he said. Mohammed dismissed some media reports that some states claimed they were not ready for the A-Meal-A-Day programme due to funding challenges. He emphasised that the federal government was solely responsible for the funding of the programme. According to him, the pilot scheme of the programme has started and it will cover 5.5 million pupils when fully on stream. The minister also advised Muslims to uphold the lessons of Ramadan by shunning vices and making sacrifices for others and the nation. In his lecture, Prof. Ahmid Sanni, Chief Imam, Lagos State University, said that the virtue of sacrifice was beyond prayers and fasting. According to him, it also requires the show of love and care to the less privileged in the society. In his remarks, Gov. Ambode of Lagos State extolled the virtues of the late Alhaji Kafaru Tinubu, the Patriarch of the Tinubu Family in Central Lagos.

Politics / Buhari's 1st Year: Lagos Receives 178bn As Allocation From FAAC by mamabomboy: 4:25pm On Jun 12, 2016
According to a report released by the Economic
Confidential, an intelligence economic magazine,
the 36 states and 774 local government councils
in Nigeria shared a total of N2.8 trillion from the
Federation Account in the first year of President
Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
The report disclosed that the total figure was the
payment made to the two tiers of government
between June 2015 and May 2016 at the
monthly meeting of the Federation Account
Allocation Committee (FAAC).
It further revealed that Lagos State is ranked first
as the highest recipient of gross allocation with a
total of N178 billion during the 12-month period.
"It is followed by Akwa State (N173 billion), Delta
State (N144 billion) and Kano State (N117 billion)
.
"The five states cornered a quarter (25 percent)
of the total allocation for the states and local
government councils in Nigeria within the one-
year period.
"Among the 10 highest recipients from the
Federation Account are Bayelsa State (N95 billion)
followed by Katsina State (N88 billion), Oyo State
(N84 billion), Kaduna State (N83 billion) and
Borno State (N78 billion).
"The lowest recipients are Gombe and Ebonyi
states that got N49 billion each followed by Ekiti
and Nasarawa states (N50 billion each) and Kwara
(N52 billion)."
The report added that Edo and Ondo states with
oil-producing status got N66 billion and N71
billion respectively, while Cross River State merely
received N59 billion.
The Economic Confidential gathered that factors
that influence allocation to states and local
government councils from the Federation
Account included population, derivation, land
mass, terrain, revenue effort, school enrollments,
health facilities, water supply and equality of the
beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, the Economic Confidential, which has
been publishing the monthly Federation Account
Allocation figures in the print edition of the
magazine since January 2007, has commenced
the publication of the monthly allocation in its
online version.
The magazine is a sister publication of PRNigeria,

Politics / The Oil Cabal Is Back: Fakes Story About Dumebi Kachikwu by mamabomboy: 11:21am On Jun 12, 2016
The beneficiaries of the corruption in the oil industry are definitely still smarting from the industry wide changes implemented by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu especially at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). It was to be expected that they will not go down without a fight and that the seeming calm after the changes were announced was just the oil bandits in retreat to reassess their strategies for challenging a government that has exhibited zero tolerance for corruption. Even after spending weeks to perfect their response to the clamping down on corruption in the industry they were only able to rehash their old strategies – launch personal attacks on the minister and his family. This took the wind out of the re-launched of a campaign of calumny they had launched against him in the past since it came out as the same tired stories they had always peddled. A tweet by one of their online partner was all the other paid platforms latched unto to push out a news alert that Dumebi Kachikwu, the minister’s younger brother has been declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). They also hyped the aspect about his bank account(s) being frozen without being able to specify what phantom crime they are accusing him of this time around. A call to Dumebi Kachikwu however exposed the story as a figment of the writers’ overstimulated imaginations as he not only denied being on the run from the anti- graft agency but that he was still able to transact with his account(s) as at the time he was asked to verify the story. That a false story was pushed out as breaking news should worry all of us. Not just because no one wants to or deserves to be so slandered but because of the inherent risks that such irresponsible behaviour poses tour collective freedom. All over the governments are scaling back on liberties often citing terrorism and online trolling. We have been fortunate that the ill-conceived bill to regulate social media and online platforms died a natural death but this kind of online hooliganism risks creating the basis on which society would demand a restriction of the freedom available online. Much as one would want to call the online trolls to order however, they are merely the symptoms of a more insidious disease. They are the smoking guns while the hands that pulled the trigger actually belonged to the bandits that had held Nigerians hostage until the recent changes made to the way the oil industry is managed. The kite flown about Dumebi Kachikwu’s arrest was apparently better managed than another story that surfaced at exactly the same time. The Dumebi story basically tried to hide under the EFCC without canvassing the position of its sponsors. The true identities of those paying for this campaign however surfaced in the second story that flushed morality down the sinkhole with unprintable accusations targeted at undermining the marriage of the Minister of State for Petroleum. It did everything to cast aspersions on his person as a gentleman as only could be delivered by the worst form of yellow journalism. In the story, one of those redeployed by Kachikwu was desperately packaged to appear like the victim. Had those who rehashed this overused rendition of an event that never happened bothered to cross check their facts, they would have seen that redeployment of their principal was an act of unmerited mercy as thousands of Nigerian youths has taken to the streets at the height of the fuel crisis to demand the sack of this particular official for an history of record setting corruption. That a person who should have been fired, arrested, tried and jailed for serial theft is now piloting a campaign of calumny against the minister that showed magnanimity is the real definition of travesty. My one cent for the team working on this new round of “bring the Kachikwus down” attack is that they should get back with the owners of the brief and demand more money because the task they have signed up for is not an easy one. They are being asked to hallucinate about events that never happened and this is a sure way of toying with eventual mental incapacitation because the prolonged hallucination trips could become addictive. To the sponsors of the stories, one can only offer sympathies. It sucks to be cut off from the slush fund that used flow freely before Kachikwu became minister and brought so many dizzying changes that have dried up the tap of corruption money. But they will do well to keep their powder dry, save as much of their stolen wealth as possible instead of paying for expensive but pointless propaganda – there would be expensive lawyers to pay, bail to post and refund to make to when the EFCC finally gets to the right chapter that concerns th www.www.thebreakingtimes.com/op-ed-unedited-the-oil-cabal-is-back/
