Whewww..... What a recipe...... Pls do u spool feed or with feeding bottle? AlphaHandMaiden: I never gave my baby pap, or any of the various pap combinations. Whether corn, millet or guinea corn, with soya, with crayfish, or any other variation.
We only did formular and mashed/ purreed foods from 6 months plus, so there are LOADS of stuff you can give. Including modifications of the normal food you eat at home.
In fact i gave pap for the first time like 3 weeks ago. Now my dd eats well and takes almost everything but she absolutely hated it. so i dont understand why so many people reccommend it.?
Now that we are one.... ( yippeee!!!) I have brought out the Nido milk. And sippe cup. I have given myself one month to phase out all feeding bottles.
You can mash or puree almost anything. You can start with sweet potato before you introduce irish potato and yam.
Let me give you a list of some of my tried and tested menus..... yes i kept a record of our meals and combinations. And will keep the book like a treasure. .
●beans and ripe plantain pottage ( no oil, and pass through a wire mesh sieve with a spoon to remove the skins) ●Avocado and egg yolk ●Yam and fish with small butter ( with spinach and/or garden egg as an option) ●Ripe plantain and fish/meat/poultry ●Pureed mango, banana or other fruit.( either plain or with baby rice to add bulk) ●amala with blended okra soup with fish ●sweet corn, beetroot and chicken ● yam pottage ( remove before adding oil and pepper and maggi) ● Beans and sweet potato. ●carrot, sweet corn and cabbage purree wih small knob of butter. ● Pasta with mince meat sauce ( or stew with meat- blend afterwards just omit pepper and spices.- you can make her own stew/ sauce seperately and combine with "soggy rice or pasta. ) i also find mixing pasta and rice with maybe carrot/sweet corn/other veggie puree help with not making it too tomato-ey.
Note: You may need to add some water while pureeing or blending to get the right texture. If it is too dry, your dd is likely to refuse it.
Dont be scared of adding too much water... if it turns out too watery, add a bit of baby rice or boiled irish potato to thicken it back up. It wont change the taste.
So dearie, there is more to weaning than frisco gold and pap! Good luck. |

babythug: The choice to give cereals to baby at 4montha is actually dependent on the mother. If you've purposed to exclusively breastfeed most mums will wait till 6months. If her appetite has dropped like you said she may not readily accept the rice cereal now.
Why not wait a little more and see if her appetite picks up and then you take it from there .
Remember baby's weight isn't a competition as long as she's within the range for her age!
Hope this helps Thanks....i will watch her a little more And pls can i give multivitamin serup to boost appetite? |

Onegai: cutiereborn and mamamj, can you stop any powder you're using on baby? Also, if you have tried Antibiotics and it didn't work, it may be an allergy (allergy symptoms are usually coughing and cartaarh, since they affect eye, nose and throat). Which means some particles like dust or pollen is lodging in their lungs and irritating them. So no fans directly on them (because it pushes particles into their system. The fans should be above them facing in their direction but not blowing on them and it should be some distance from them. Rechargeable fans are short-necked so it is too close to baby, it will blow particles into their face and they will breathe it in. Go back to the doctor and ask him about allergies and he will prescribe a syrup for them. I don't want to mention the name so you don't buy it dirctly without a prescription (I heard it can cause drowsiness). A lot of babies outgrow their allergies but some keep them (I still have mine). What you don't want to do is aggravate it and cause Asthma. HTH Thanks mama...I never used powder on her cos of what I read about it. I will stop the fan for now and see. I have used vit C |

Tojued: Very few babies sleep all night before 3 months. You could try the following tricks:
1. Bathe baby early e.g. 6pm. He'll probably fall asleep after his bath. If he doesn't, someone should play with him so he gets tired.
2. Retire to bed early e.g. 8pm. Put off the lights in the room, read a story using torchlight, play a torchlight game, pray, change his diapers rock him to sleep, etc. He's sure to sleep before 9pm if he's away from tv and light.
3. Feed him before he wakes up. Once he starts doing cooo coo feed him while you're both half asleep. Me I arrange mine one kind at my breast and sleep off but I won't advice you to do same :-)
4. Avoid changing his diaper at night, he is sure to wake up if you do.
5. After 4.30am/ 5am feed, hand him over to DH or MIL without any explanation or negotiation. Just dump him. And sleep! Trust me that 5am sleep is veeery sweet and refreshing!
I understand if you feel upset with MIL, but na you born pikin o, better gear up to handle your blessing. God will strengthen you. Thanks so much Tojued |

AlphaHandMaiden: Is it that your MIL is not helping at all only during the night? Or is it that she is not helping AT ALL? I agree with babythug, MIL may just need a rest and these seems to be a bit of misunderstanding of roles here....i. e what you expect of her and her own interpretation of what she can help with.
It is sometimes easier to assume someone's intentions (you to your MIL) or that someone is coping fine (your MIL to you). i dont know the relationship you have with MIL, but sometimes i find it easier to actually ASK for help. It may be something as simple as her not wanting to encroach as some mothers feel..invaded when some grandmas ( from both sides) swing in all guns blazing and totally take over childcare.
And also be aware that "help or assisitance" comes in different forms. If someone is helping only with meals for instance.... it shouldnt be underestimated.
Bear in mind that even if she or anyone else takes the baby for the night, if you are EBF you will still have to wake up as needed to do the feeds.
For your baby i would ask what your bedtime routine is? When is evening bathtime? Try and work it out that after evening bath, do some baby massage, feed and put him down to sleep. Keep the times and routines consistent and they will eventually get used to it.
Unfortunately babies dont have working body clock that young, but their perception of night and day should start kicking in at about 3 months. So hopefully it will get better.
Also as someone has said if the baby is not crying, put him in his cot and leave him.. he will eventually sleep. Dont feel that you have to carry the baby as he is awake or you have to rock to sleep in your arms everytime because he will get used to being carried and rocked to sleep...... that in itself is major drama when they get older. Will sure try this out Thank you so much The way u freely give out advise is amazing God bless u and ur LO |

babythug: It's typical of newborns to stay awake till late sometimes! I am doing vigilante as I type this for eg- the individual is 6 weeks
What do you need a nanny for? Just to help with bed time routine or other stuff?
Probably your mil is tired and already has her own bedtime routine which includes sleeping at 9pm, I don't see what the crime in that is!
But that's my opinion! Especially if she's helpful in other areas and at other times!
As per childcare what exactly did you have in mind and what was the agreement when your mil moved in? For me I've learnt that it may be easier for everyone if there's an extra or alternative child care arrangement e.g nanny in addition to having your mil around!
You can look for someone and your excuse/story will be that the extra hand will ease mil of some of the stress.. But remember that nanny may not join you in vigilante after caring for baby all day!
I hope my comment has helped you further expand your options and thoughts on the subject good luck Thank babythug...she only help with bathing the baby, I do all other things in the house I just need someone to help especially at night since I want to resume work and keeping up till that late,I don't know how I can cope at work Or is there a way I can make her sleep early? She is not on EBF |

Last year, I traveled with Emirates, the specifically asked for my baby's visa and when the saw the hand written visa and had to go in to show her boss. I will not advise anyone to try it only if you mail the airline and they confirm via email atleast the wont be able to deny when you reach the airport.
