DG of a party is not the party's Candidate. He is just a person entrusted to a role to provide strategic and tactical direction as well as mange the resources of the campaign to win election for his candidate.

He is not required by law to even belong to the same party he is the DG.

Dele Momodu was once in the campaign trail of John Mahama, a former Ghananian president without belonging to the Ghananian political party.

One can even hire Axelrod of US to come pilot the campaign.

So PO has a liberty to employ an APC or PDP member to be his DG. Bashorun belonging to ZLP has no relevance to his current party. He has since resigned as a member of ZLP although Inec still retains his name as a senatorial candidate.

It’s true that lp is not as accepted as this before Obi defection to it but that doesn’t rule out the fact that lp has its own followers before . Also Obi has little weight in PDP as a politician because if any political bigwig wants to defect ,many of his associates and followers will follow suit but we can see that nothing like that happened when Obi defected .
