Victor Osimhen would like to be a Rashidi Yekini. But his attitude won't let him. There's a huge difference. I responded to a story where someone said he "created" it. You're now telling me that he didn't create it, he only "introduced" it. What exactly did he introduce? The five-beat sequence that I talked about? But how can someone introduce something that was already in existence before he was born? When people say Fela created Afrobeats, what exactly do they mean? He only adapted afrobeats to his gennre of music - a fusion of highlife and jazz. He didn't create afrobeats, which is a five-beat sequence indigenous to most of sub-saharan Africa that existed long before Fela started his music career. And before you start arguing over nothing, I'm a huge Fela fan. I'm also a music collector. I have in my music library most of Fela's songs dating back to his days with the Koola Lobitos in the 1960s.

What do these people think these revelations mean for the legacy of this man, if he left any? Are they saying these things to make him look better in death than when he was alive? Only if people do not rate you at all in terms of diligence and application would they confidently forge your signature on documents and still bring those documents to you for approval. This directive should not be an issue in any society where a live and let live attitude prevails. But I can see why it may worsen the problem. If cattle rearing is a purely economic activity, then it may work. However, it won't work if cattle rearing is used as cover for jihadist expansion. Matters related to certificate forgery are not trivial and constitute serious criminal offences. Other nations like Ghana, have set an example by thoroughly cross-checking the educational claims and credentials of all candidates before elections. Nigeria must not do less.
