BusinessManaging Your Money Towards Realising Your Dreams by Maol(op): 8:13am On Sep 11, 2018
According to Rianka Dorsainvil, an entrepreneur and financial planning expert, here are five money management tips for millennials to help them align their careers with their life purpose and realise their dreams.

Spend less than you earn

It sounds so simple, but many people do not do this. If you find you are accruing credit card debt, that means you are living beyond your means, and you need to cut back on your expenses. A little bit goes a long way; any amount you can save each month will quickly add up.

Make yourself a budget

Do not be afraid of the “B” word. Understanding and knowing where your money is going is extremely important. Be disciplined around cash flow. Every dollar should be assigned a job and tracked as to where it is going. Once you keep track of your money for three months, you will be amazed to see where your money goes.

Learn about compounding interest

Compounding interest is your best friend. You get interest on the interest received from previous years, which is perfect for young people who are investing for the long haul. Start investing now. That way, should you decide you want a second act in life pursuing some new passion or business idea; you will have a nest egg to fall back and won’t be afraid to take that leap.

Always invest in a retirement account

You may have competing goals right now, like paying off student loan debt, saving for the purchase for a home, or getting married. But saving money should be a priority. Find it within your budget to take advantage of what your company offers in terms of a retirement account. We all should be investing to the maximum of the matching funds provided by our employers.

BusinessFG, States, Lgs Share N2tn In Three Months by Maol(op): 8:05am On Sep 11, 2018
Increase in crude oil price, as well as domestic oil production, raised the nation’s revenues from oil, which made the three tiers of government to share N2tn in the second quarter of this year, the Nigerian Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative has said.

The Director, Communications and Advocacy, NEITI, Dr Ogbonnaya Orji, said in a statement made available to our correspondent on Monday that the disclosure was contained in agency’s Quarterly Review.

According to the statement, the federal, state and local governments shared N3.95tn from the Federation Account in the first six months of the year.

Featuring data sourced from the National Bureau of Statistics, the statement also showed that within the first half of the year, Osun State received N10.24bn from the Federation Account, while its account was debited with N14.52bn.

This means that the total deductions from the state’s account was N4.28bn more than it received from the Federation Account. States accounts are debited due to local and foreign debts they have contracted.

BusinessDiscos - Investors Not Willing To Buy Stake In Power Assets by Maol(op): 8:30am On Sep 03, 2018
Nearly five years after the nation’s power sector was privatised, core investors in the electricity distribution companies say they have been unable to recoup their investment in the acquired assets.

The Discos said it was not true that new investors were waiting to buy stakes in the power distribution assets, describing calls for the core investors in the power firms to invest more as irrational.

The Chief Executive Officer, Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors, an umbrella body for the Discos, Mr Azu Obiaya, told our correspondent in an interview that most of the core investors would be happy to sell off the assets they acquired in November 2013.

He said, “You may recall that at an investors’ press briefing, the chairman of Aura Energy, the investors in Jos Disco, indicated that he was prepared to sell Jos Disco at a discount, given the current environment.

“And I think that you can essentially project that sentiment for all of the Disco investors; that indeed the environment that would have made their investment worthwhile is not there. So, to the extent that it is not there, most of the Disco investors would happily sell the assets to any interested parties to get back their money.

Christianity EtcHow Should A Church Earning Be Shared. by Maol(op): 12:05pm On Sep 02, 2018
They is a lot of controversies on how the church earnings should. Some people believe that all should go to the pastor, some believe that part should go to the pastor others for church maintenance, charity and payment of church workers.  Many pastors has been accused of embezzlement of church funds while others have been accused of buying luxury such as private jet, luxury car etc.

Also a question has not been answered for a long time if pastors should have a separate job from the church work or is it compulsory for the pastor to earn from the church.

CareerThings You Can Do On Sartudays For Extra Income. by Maol(op): 1:02pm On Sep 01, 2018
Sartudays are always filled with event because that is the only day some individuals have free time unlike Sundays where people go for church service or asalatu.
People go to resort centers, club, events, concerts etc on sartudays.
We take you through the things you can do sartudays aside from your normal regular daily jobs.

1 Wait and Get pictures: You can snap people at events such as weddings, naming ceremony and also at resort centers then print the picture for them before the leave.

2 Sell snacks and drinks: You can also sell drinks with good quality and snacks for guest refreshments.

3 DJ:  Recently people don't really focus on DJ skills if it is not a club. Without learning how do DJ you can just play continuous songs for people or download DJ mix only then play it at events.

4 Make smoothies and Shawarma: When going to resort center people don't really like to buy what they eat regularly at home. That why selling smoothies and Shawarma highly demanded at resort centers.

5 Fitness training: You can volunteer to have open fitness centre to train people on sartudays only since people would be busy other days.

BusinessCross River Rice Seedling Factory To Generate N14bn Annually by Maol(op): 7:41am On Aug 31, 2018
The Hybrid Rice Seedling Factory built by the Cross River State Government at the cost of N3bn is estimated to generate at least N14bn annually.

The factory, which was unveiled in May by President Muhammadu Buhari, is sited in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State.

Conducting journalists round the facility on Thursday, the state Commissioner of Agriculture, Prof. Anthony Eneji, said the product from factory is expected to meet the hybrid seed demands of farmers in the entire south-south and south-east regions.

Eneji said the factory was built at a cost of over N3bn in terms of planning, design, construction and equipping.

He said an estimated N1.2bn would be generated monthly from about 1, 000 hectares of land, which conservatively is put at about N14bn annually.

Eneji said, “If we get eight tonnes per hectare from each of 1, 000 hectares, each harvest within three weeks or a month will yield a return of N1.2bn.

“If one tone of hybrid rice is sold at N150, 000, then you can use your calculator and do the arithmetic you will know we are talking in billion of naira.”

CelebritiesThe World's Highest-paid Actors 2018: George Clooney Tops List With $239 Million by Maol(op): 1:26pm On Aug 26, 2018
George Clooney may not have helmed a hit in years, but his wallet hasn’t noticed. Thanks to the up to $1 billion purchase of his Casamigos Tequila, Clooney scored a career high pretax paycheck of $239 million between June 1, 2017 and June 1, 2018.

The 57-year-old tops Forbes’ annual ranking of highest-paid actors, which tallies both onscreen and extracurricular earnings in our 12-month scoring frame. Last June, British liquor conglomerate Diageo announced it would purchase Casamigos for $700 million up front with the potential for an extra $300 million over the next decade. For Clooney, that meant an estimated $233 million pretax from Casamigos, plus additional earnings from endorsements and older movies.

“If you asked us four years ago if we had a billion-dollar company, I don’t think we would have said yes,” Clooney told CNBC when the deal was announced.

Casamigos was founded in 2013 by Clooney, nightlife entrepreneur Rande Gerber and real estate tycoon Mike Meldman. According to a source close to the business, the trio invested $600,000 apiece and owned equal stakes in the company prior to the acquisition.

Clooney’s tequila cash edges Dwayne ‘The Rock” Johnson, who banked $124 million pretax to rank No. 2 on the highest-paid actors list. He tallied the largest ever acting take-home from front-of-camera roles in Celebrity 100 history, thanks to giant upfront paychecks and a cut of profits on blockbusters including Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. A huge social following allows him to negotiate an extra seven figures atop his standard contract for promotion, helping nearly double his 2017 earnings.

BusinessInvestors Stake N100bn On FGN Bonds by Maol(op): 7:27am On Aug 16, 2018
The Debt Management Office said subscribers staked more than N100bn on FGN Bonds, which it issued on Wednesday.

According to the agency, although it offered N90bn bonds, investors oversubscribed the offer by more than N10bn.

More than N100bn raised at the offer would go into financing the 2018 budget, the DMO said.

It said, “The FGN Bond Auction for August 2018, which was conducted by the DMO on Wednesday at which N90bn bonds were offered in three tenors – five years, seven years and 10 years – was oversubscribed.

“The total subscriptions received from bidders at the auction were above N100bn. Allotments were made to successful bidders at 14.39 per cent for the five-year, 14.6 per cent for the seven-year and 14.69 per cent for the 10-year bond, which are consistent with the rates in the secondary market for the bonds offered at the auction.

“A total of N100.09bn was allotted to competitive and non-competitive bidders at the auction and the proceeds will provide additional financing for the implementation of the 2018 Appropriation Act.”

BusinessCurrency Swap Deal’ll Prevent Substandard Products Importation — CBN by Maol(op): 7:12am On Aug 16, 2018
The Central Bank of Nigeria on Wednesday said it was not possible for any importer to bring in substandard products into the country under the currency swap agreement recently signed with the People’s Bank of China.

The apex bank said adequate measures had been put in place with all the regulatory agencies to check abuse of the terms of contract reached under the currency swap deal.

The CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, said these in Abuja at a currency swap forum for importers in the North Central zone.

The forum brought together stakeholders in the trade sector, who are mostly importers and exporters, to sensitise them to the conditions and benefits of trading under the new Reminbi-denominated window.

BusinessCBN May Increase Interest Rate Soon by Maol(op): 2:29am On Aug 08, 2018
The Central Bank of Nigeria has hinted about plans to increase the interest rate as it hopes to tighten the monetary policy in response to higher inflation ahead of the general elections in February.

A Bloomberg report on Tuesday quoted a CBN Deputy Governor, Dr Joseph Nnanna, as giving the indication on Monday on the sidelines of a conference in the resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt.

Already, he said virtually all members of the Monetary Policy Committee had supported the idea, that “the Monetary Policy Rate should increase if inflationary pressures build up.”

But finance and economic experts have expressed divergent views on the issue with those opposed to the idea saying increasing the MPR would make it difficult for businesses to raise funds.

According to the report, the MPC has held its key rate at a record 14 per cent since 2016 in a bid to prop up the naira and tame inflation after it spiked to double digits in the same year. While price growth has since slowed to below the monetary policy rate, the panel has shifted from some members voting for rate cuts in January to three of 10 members favouring higher rates at the July meeting.

BusinessWorld Food Prices Down 3.7% In July – FAO by Maol(op): 2:38pm On Aug 02, 2018
World food prices fell 3.7 per cent in July from the month before with declines seen across all crop types, the United Nations food agency said on Thursday.

The Food and Agriculture Organisation said in Rome that the drop was the sharpest monthly drop since last December.

FAO’s food price index, which measures monthly changes for a basket of cereals, oilseeds, dairy products, meat and sugar averaged 168.8 points in July against an upwardly revised 175.3 in June.

“The decline in July was driven by weaker export quotations for wheat, maize and rice,” FAO said.

“International wheat prices were generally weaker during the first half of the month, but concerns over production prospects in the EU and the Russian Federation started to push export values higher towards the end of the month,” it added.

BusinessSwitzerland Promises Improved Relations With Nigeria In Non-oil Sector by Maol(op): 2:30pm On Aug 02, 2018
The Swiss Government is to strengthen its relations with Nigeria in the non-oil sectors in line with the Federal Government’s diversification agenda.

Swiss Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Eric Mayoraz, made this known in an interview on the occasion of the 727th Anniversary of the Swiss Confederation and a farewell reception in his honour in Abuja.

Mayoraz, who has served in Nigeria for three years, said that both countries have made “concrete achievements” in their bilateral relations.

The envoy said that Nigeria was a main exporter of oil to Switzerland and both countries were working to diversify relations in other sectors.

“In 2015 we opened a new economic consulate in Lagos and created a Swiss-Nigeria council, like a chamber of commerce.

“There is Lafarge Nigeria cement factory; Nestle Nigeria Plc that produces consumables; there are pharmaceuticals companies and companies in new technologies as well.

“This is a very diverse and open scope of economic relations; I know there are Swiss investors in the agriculture field; there are Swiss-Nigeria joint ventures in Jos, Plateau and Kaduna State that are trying to promote the value of potatoes.

“We do not only deal in oil, though it is mainly what we import from Nigeria, and the Swiss companies here produce mainly for the Nigeria market.”

He also recalled major achievements in the bilateral relations of both countries in the last three years which included the visit of high-level delegations from both parties to facilitate partnerships in diverse areas.

CelebritiesThe World's Highest-paid Djs Of 2018 by Maol(op): 10:17am On Aug 02, 2018
The first time Zedd toured professionally as a DJ, opening for Skrillex, his production setup consisted of little more than a laptop and a folding table. In the break between him and the next DJ, he’d simply loop a song and walk off the stage.

“That is not the thing anymore today,” Zedd told Forbes last fall. “Everything is really professional. From the changeover music–from what you hear and see, between each DJ–to the cost you spend on a show … the expenses have gone up dramatically.”

So have the earnings. Five years ago, Zedd was banking $3.5 million annually; since then, he’s hauled in more than $100 million, including $22 million over the past year alone — and that’s only good enough for No. 6 on our list of the world’s highest-paid DJs. The top 15 acts all earned $10 million or more, with the top 10 banking more than a quarter billion dollars in aggregate.

Calvin Harris tops the list for the sixth consecutive year with earnings of $48 million, continuing to pull in healthy six-figure checks for his sets in Las Vegas — and well into the seven figures for headlining festival performances from Japan to Croatia. The Chainsmokers are right behind him ($45.5 million); the duo behind “Closer” and “Something Just Like This” played more than 100 shows in our scoring period. Says the act’s cofounder, Alex Pall: “I’m curious to see what happens next.”

Veteran DJ/producer Tiësto ($33 million) ranks No. 3, staying relevant with collaborations like “Jackie Chan,” his new single with Post Malone. Steve Aoki ($28 million) follows, playing a whopping 200 shows in our scoring period, sometimes two in a single day. Marshmello ($23 million) rounds out the top five — in addition to six-figure nightly fees, he’s puffed up his social presence with the YouTube series “Cooking With Marshmello.”

BusinessApple Earnings Arrive With Trillion-dollar Value Near by Maol(op): 2:49pm On Jul 31, 2018
Apple will release quarterly earnings figures Tuesday as it flirts with a history-making, trillion-dollar market value based on its share price.

To hit the trillion-dollar mark, Apple shares would have to climb about seven percent from the $189.91 price logged at the close of official trading Monday on the Nasdaq.

The market is eager for news about demand for iPhones and how the company is riding out trade turbulence between the US and China.

President Donald Trump’s trade wars include 25 percent US tariffs on $34 billion in Chinese goods, with more on the way, and steep tariffs on steel and aluminum, which provoked China and others to hit back with import duties on US goods.

The Silicon Valley-based company is expected to unveil new iPhone models in the fall, sticking with its practice of releasing upgraded models annually ahead of the year-end holiday shopping season.

BusinessHow To Make Money With Bitcoin: 10 Ways To Earn Cryptocurrency by Maol(op): 8:29am On Jul 29, 2018
There are a number of ways that individuals can earn Bitcoin online. Unfortunately, just as in real life, there is no such thing as a free lunch. Any way of earning Bitcoin online will require something in exchange, whether it’s your time or your knowledge or your computer’s processing power.

Some of the methods outlined below will involve minimal effort but will also result in minimal returns. Other means of earning Bitcoin online may be more lucrative but they will require you to have a certain level of knowledge and expertise about the industry and the market. Therefore, although it may appear to some that Bitcoin, and cryptocurrency in general, is an easy way to make money, it is not as easy as some might expect without the requisite knowledge (a principle that can unsurprisingly be applied to any industry).

However, should you be interested in earning Bitcoin online it may be worth considering some of the below options, ranging from the least difficult (and least paid!) to the more substantial roles available in the Bitcoin ecosystem.

Micro Earnings

Contents [show]

Although micro-earnings is the easiest method in which to earn Bitcoin, it is also probably the most time consuming of all the methods discussed, especially when taking into consideration the amount of money to be made. Micro earning websites pay you in Bitcoin for completing small tasks. In return you can get a (very) small amount of Bitcoin. The most popular forms of micro earnings are as follows:

Paid-to-Click Websites

As suggested by the name, these websites pay users in Bitcoin for visiting certain websites or viewing certain advertisements. There are many PTC websites that will pay negligible amounts in Bitcoin for clicks and views, with Ads4BTC probably being the most famous and the most popular. This website allows users to choose between viewing ads that are 5 seconds, 10 seconds or 20 seconds, with different fees being awarded for each. Based on the prices offered by Ads4BTC, if you had 20 second ads running for an entire day, you would make less than $10 per day, so this may not be a viable option for most.

Bitcoin Faucets

A Bitcoin faucet is a type of website that gives away small amounts of Bitcoin to its users, with owners making money by placing ads on their website and pay individuals who visit the ads or complete surveys. This industry amounts of over 50% of the traffic on leading Bitcoin websites today. Faucets let visitors earn a percentage of the Bitcoin that they give away to any visitors that you brought in. This has resulted in users using a Bitcoin faucet rotator that allows users to quickly surf different faucets and earn a commission through rotation links for each faucet visited by you. However, similar to PTC websites, Bitcoin faucets are not a realistic way to earn good money, with even the best faucet rotators being applied still only enabling users to make no more than $1-2 per day.

Micro Jobs

Micro jobs are small tasks that can be completed for small amounts of Bitcoin. Websites such as Coinworker offer such tasks, which may involve simply testing a plugin to see if it is successfully compatible with a browser, or just retweeting a post. Again, the money is small but there is potential to earn a little bit more than the faucets of PTC websites.

Writing about Bitcoin

If you’re knowledgeable about Bitcoin, enthusiastic about the cryptocurrency industry in general and willing and able to share your knowledge, then you can also earn Bitcoin by doing so. The amount that can be earned by writing about Bitcoin varies, but can be quite lucrative depending on the level of expertise that you have on the subject.

InvestmentHow To Invest For The Very First Time by Maol(op): 12:10pm On Jul 28, 2018
She’s just 18 years old. She’s a freshman in college studying industrial design. And before she left for school, she made her very first investment in stocks and bonds. It took her all of five minutes. I was so proud of her.

Over the past few months I have had the opportunity to talk with three first-time investors. In addition to my friend’s daughter mentioned above, I’ve also spoken with two friends in their twenties. One had never invested. The other had a 403(b), but really no idea how to create an investment plan or how to evaluate the mutual funds in his retirement account.

These conversations were eye-opening. At first I tried to reduce a lifetime of investing experience into a 20 minute conversation. I learned that many people really don’t care about emerging markets, REITs, or standard deviation. They also aren’t that interested in the debate between actively managed investments versus index funds.

What they do care about is risk. They want to understand the chances of losing money. Here it’s helpful to distinguish between volatility, which the industry defines as risk, and loss of purchasing power, which intelligent investors define as risk. But here again, I’ve gone too far into the weeds for most investors just starting out.

So in the end we talked about 4 things:

Time: Investing in stocks is for the long term. If you will need the money in a couple of years, keep it in a high yield savings account. Investing in stocks should be for a minimum of five years, and ten years is preferable.Diversification: Most investors should diversify across a wide spectrum of investments. The most important decision will be how much to invest in stocks versus bonds. For long term investors, more should be in stocks than bonds.Cost: Even small costs, multiplied over a lifetime of investing, will have a big impact on an investor’s results. It’s wrong to thing that a 1% fee is small. It can easily erode hundreds of thousands of dollars in value over a lifetime.

BusinessSeven Facebook Groups For Women Entrepreneurs by Maol(op): 11:55am On Jul 28, 2018
Facebook groups can be a great way to find clients, earn income, and build community as an entrepreneurial woman.RAWPIXEL

When I was starting my business, I had no idea that Facebook groups had become one of the most powerful tools for entrepreneurs to connect with each other with their audiences. Once I did learn the value of Facebook groups, I was delighted to see these online communities transform into thriving ecosystems of female founders.

By participating in the Facebook groups I list here, I’ve found clients for my business, earned significant income and met friends who have helped me grow my business. If you’re a woman entrepreneur, I couldn’t recommend more highly that you join these groups:

1 Tech Ladies

Tech Ladies connects women to the best opportunities in tech. Aside from a frequently updated job board, they have lively discussion threads, free resources, events and an anonymous forum for asking personal questions. The group currently has over 25,000 members.
