The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, yesterday paraded five suspected Badoo cult suspects at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja. One of the suspects paraded on Thursday at the Lagos State Police Command, 18-year-old Chibuzor Igwe, says he was tricked into joining Badoo cult, he explained that he had approached one of the alleged leaders of the cult, Obamoyegun Omotayo, for a driving job, but was lured into the gang. Chibuzor said, “I am a Badoo member. Around November, I told Obamoyegun (Omotayo) that I wanted to be his driver because I saw him with new cars. He told me that it would take some time before he would give me the job..." The Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal did not allow the suspect talk to the journalist, claiming that the suspects’ confession would jeopardise Police investigations and efforts to arrest other members of the gang, who are at large. The Commissioner earlier, while briefing journalists on the arrests, identified other Badoo suspects as Chibuzor’s elder brother, Uche Igwe; a welder, Samuel Akaeze, aka Samito; his wife, Gift Akaeze; and a herbalist, Fatai Adebayo, aka Adaripon. According to CP Imohimi, Gift provides information on the targets whom the assailants consequently attack, adding that Chibuzor was apprehended while he wanted to escape from Alabo Street, Abule Osorun, Ibeshe, Ikorodu, where the gang smashed the heads of a couple and their five-month-old baby on December 30, 2017. Imohimi explained that Chibuzor, Samuel and Omotayo carried out the attack, adding that by the time a joint team of policemen and a vigilance group responded to a distress call, Samuel and Omotayo had fled. “The gang of three murderers comprises Chibuzor Igwe, Samuel Akaeze, aka Samito and Obamoyegun Omotayo. Omotayo usually sprays a powdery substance into victims’ dwelling places that would make them to fall into deep sleep before they end their lives by smashing their skulls with grinding stones. “Omotayo, having satisfied that the victims are dead, will use white handkerchiefs to mop their blood for ritual purposes. However, luck ran out on them when one of the victims raised the alarm which attracted the local vigilance group. The group in turn alerted the police in that area and the compound was cordoned off, leading to the arrest of Chibuzor Igwe at the scene. “Also arrested is one Gift Akaeze, wife of Samuel, who provides information about where to strike for the group," the CP explained. Imohimi said Chibuzor confessed to being a member of the ritual gang and gave the Police information that led to the arrest of Samuel and Omotayo. He added that the bloodstained grinding stone, suspected to have been used by the suspects, had been taken to a laboratory for forensic analysis. “Recall that during my last press briefing on December 11, 2017, I mentioned that a blue Nokia Asha phone belonging to the murdered pastor of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Ikorodu, Victor Kanayo, who was killed on November 25, 2017, was recovered from Uche Igwe. He confessed that his younger brother, Chibuzor Igwe, gave him the phone. “The said Chibuzor was the one arrested on Alajo Street, where he and his gang members murdered Shakiru Yekini and inflicted grievous bodily harm on his wife and six-month-old baby,” he added. Imohimi stated further that Chibuzor told the Police that Omotayo usually took them to Adebayo, the herbalist, in Imosan-Ijebu, Ogun State, where he (Adebayo) administered oaths on them in his shrine before they went on operations. He added that, the herbalist also fortified them with charms and blessed the grinding stones with which they smashed people’s skulls. Imohimi said the Command would not relent until all members of the gang were rounded up, adding that the suspected kingpin, Alhaji Abayomi Alaka, remained wanted by the Police, and in his own interest, should report at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, to answer the charges against him. "He will have his day in court", the CP concluded http://samuelmarcel..com.ng/2018/01/how-i-was-tricked-to-join-badoo-cult.html

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has noted the feverish moves by the All Progressive Congress (APC) to create disaffection among our members, distract our great party, and divert the attention of Nigerians from the colossal failure of its government. Having woefully failed to stop the PDP elective National Convention, a desperate APC has again failed in another bid to plant seeds of discord within the ranks of our members in the Southwest, particularly on issues relating to the outcome of our hugely successful National Convention. The people of the South West have, however, seen through the antics of the APC propaganda machine and would not allow themselves be deceived. The South West leaders who contested for the PDP National Chairmanship position are all men of quality and credibility; the fallout of the convention cannot, in any way, diminish their standing as core nationalists and statesmen whose interests, particularly in the PDP, and the nation, are not driven by personal or ethnic considerations. What essentially drives the individual and collective aspirations of the Southwest leaders in the PDP remains in tandem with the vision of other leaders of our party across the country, which is to rescue our dear nation from the directionless administration of the APC with its attendant economic hardship on Nigerians. In fretting, the APC does not seem to realize that people in the Southwest are as much victims of its misrule as other Nigerians. Those in the Southwest suffer from the current chaotic state of the economy which the APC administration has inflicted on the nation; they groan from the APC’s negative policies on foreign exchange as well as the heavy taxations that are killing industries and businesses; they suffer the misery in the land resulting from the spiral rate of inflation, decline in the stock market and decayed infrastructure. The APC’s attempt to plant seeds of discord among our members in the South west merely betrays their fears of losing control of the region. The southwest is too sophisticated to fall for the gimmicks of the APC. They cannot be distracted or deceived by baseless propaganda and cheap resort to ethnic politics. The Southwest will not fail to join other despairing Nigerians in voting out the APC in the 2019 election. The truth is that the APC administration, having wrecked the country, is resorting to shadow boxing to stay afloat; Nigerians are however, impatient to kick them out. The APC must note that their exit has become inevitable. They must note that the more they fight the PDP, the more united we become and the more Nigerians see through their deception and emptiness. Today, many are leaving their ranks in droves. Very soon their party will be empty and its collapse will be loud. For the PDP, we remain one big family committed to credible processes that guarantee internal democracy in our party. Our leaders have since revved our internal conflict resolution mechanisms and consultations in this direction are yielding tremendously positive results. Finally, the PDP assures all Nigerians not to despair as we have now repositioned to provide direction and return the nation back to the path of unity and prosperity. The reality is true but the story is false! No school in the state capital that is like this, maybe in one of the interior villages. But that should not take away the government responsibility, but wait, must we all wait for Federal, don't they have a Counselor, Chairman, House of Assembly Member, House of Rep. Member, and a Senator representing that community! I just weep for the bunch of dullards we have in power who only care about their stomach! there was a country called Nigeria! |
