Romance / Craziest Stalker Cousin Trouble by marcmuzman: 11:50pm On Dec 28, 2011
Happy Holidays !!!

After my best friend came back from naija, it was her first time ever (she is a Caribbean American and I am Nigerian American). After she sits down and tells me the lovely times with her boyfriend and such. She also told me some crazy ish !,

While she was shopping somewhere in ikeja for some fabric with her new naija lady friends , an woman in her late 30's approached them asking for some help. Of course they was helpful and the older woman was thankful. After the great advice and friendly exchange the woman asked for my best friends whereabouts . My best friend introduced herself out of respect and explained she was not Nigerian but a Caribbean American from New York City. The older woman took interest and gave her a business card , she looks at it and she seen that the older woman owned a cinema. My best friend asked if she and her friends could visit . The older woman agreed and extended her welcome,

The next day my friend called her and asked if it was possible to see a movie later that day. The older woman said yes and to make sure she called a hour or two before. Which she did , the group of ladies went to the cinema . The older woman welcomed them and let them see a movie of their choice. While all of them was watching the cinema . The older woman began to ask my best friend more questions. Without no regard my best friend answers all of her personal questions thinking it was no harm because she finds out that the older woman is a cousin of her boyfriends, Everyone enjoyed the film and went out for drinks,

Soon as everyone began to mingled again , the older cousin only took interest with my best friend, My best friend took a break and went to the restroom, Why the older cousin began to follow her, As soon they entered the older cousin began to make moves on her, began to caress her in places and giving her proposals of money and luxuries in return of a secret relationship, My best friend left the area with her friends and never seen her again,

But the worst thing has happened, the older cousin won't stop texting and calling her to the point her boyfriend is suspect of who is calling her. She wants to tell him what happened but she is afraid he wont believe her , What should she do? I told her to change her number she doesn't want to for business purposes and of course she wants to put the older cousin on speaker phone so her boyfriend could hear that his cousin is a stalker and gay , undecided

What would you do ??

Music/Radio / Re: Nigerian Music Is Better Than America's by marcmuzman: 2:47pm On Dec 27, 2011
Some people in this thread never had the chance to listen to both artist of both America and Najia, Half of the American Artist people are naming are over ratted commercial artist, Next time when someone has the absolute nerve to start a topic like this know your music completely, Naija just using some "wack" American trends to get commercial success,

At the end of the day, I don't see American Artist who are commercially successful trying to break a career over here. But I seen plenty of artist of Nigerian decent trying to make it big in America,

The music and entertainment industry doesn't have a great foundation, The nation doesn't even have a billboard chart, a productive academy or union for artist to observe the achievements of their own artist,

Even though I love Naija but honestly Naija hip hop and rap artist as a whole should be absolutely happy and humble to be even entertained in the same debate as American hip hop and rap Artist.

Lastly to say , I don't see any other music culture, artistry and trend that is copied throughout the world,

Culture / Re: Black Celebrities, What African peoples could they be from? by marcmuzman: 6:39pm On Sep 18, 2011
Malcolm x father was black and grew up culturally black American. There was nothing caribbean about him. And black americans marched, fought protested all the Above. The civil rights movement was won mainly by black americans and king was the most important member of that movement. Saying anything else is just revisionist thinking

Alot of African Americans ( Even all of us) that 6 out of 10 ten times,  Have heritage from the Caribbean,  We tend to forget how exactly the Trans-Alantic Passage  also known as the Middle Passage operated,   Most of our ancestors was "seasoned in a Caribbean Island before brought up to the states. And we were transported back and forth between those islands after the fact most of us entered the United States, we didn't have a permanent home at all.

For example :

Louisana= " African Americans there have a mostly have a cultural background of French, Spain and Native American.
Haiti = First known as 1/2 of Hispaniola have a mainly French cultural background
Dominican Republic= First known as 1/2 of Hispaniola have mainly a Spanish cultural background
( Funny thing is they are very close to each other also)

And all three of these places have similar traditions, dishes and even there citizens have similar last names.

Without the Caribbean especially Haiti we wouldn't know how a nation of African descent could be a independent republic.

Last example:

The Gullah
The Gullah are African Americans who live in the Lowcountry region of South Carolina and Georgia, which includes both the coastal plain and the Sea Islands.
They are known for preserving more of their African linguistic and cultural heritage than any other African-American community in the United States. They speak an English-based creole language containing many African loanwords and significant influences from African languages in grammar and sentence structure. Properly referred to as "Sea Island Creole" the Gullah language is related to Jamaican Creole, Barbadian Dialect, Bahamian Dialect, and the Krio language of Sierra Leone in West Africa. Gullah storytelling, cuisine, music, folk beliefs, crafts, farming and fishing traditions, all exhibit strong influences from West and Central African cultures.

@ K.O.N.Y believe it or not you most likely you have forebears in your family that probably are Caribbean, So Yes I agree with MsDarkSkin,  70% of our African American Leaders do have Caribbean Hertiage.

So if you want to deny it or not we us African Americans ( I am both Caribbean and African American)- might as well embrace and accept the fact Caribbeans, and Caribbean Americans are instrumental to the Civil Rights and accomplishments of African Americans. If you want any more examples I would happily share them with you !

Culture / Re: I Need An African American Friend by marcmuzman: 12:56pm On Sep 17, 2011
I'm Black American too, I beg to differ to generalize our race/nationality,

If we ( Black Americans) generalize what we see in our society of Africans (of any kind) then we could say that Africans are : Illegal Immigrants, Hair Braiders, Delivery boys, Chefs, Nannies, 419'ers, ignorant college students who never bathe that live with 10 people shacked up in a studio apartment. Also the type of people are confused with they own identity ( why you have a market for bleaching and lightening cream) And most of all the type of people who trying to make the most with the horrible least.

But most of us don't at all, It's a shame that most of the time I hear Africans get arrogant when they say " Back at home, I've had , " and I look at them and reply back saying " Then if life was so grand and glorious then why are you here and why are you talking to me since you think my people are pathetic",

At the end of the day don't generalize a race of people, Every race of people have a good, bad and medicore bunch,

To answer your question about Black people only being entertainers and athletes , you are wrong most of the stuff you use in your daily life were invented by a African American and we do have a extensive history of great accomplishments like Africans , Check out this link please:

YOU SHOULD READ THE WHOLE TIMELINE , IT WOULD CHANGE YOUR VIEW OF US ALONE !!

smdh , I know someone who is Trinidadian , Venezuelan and African American, and people swear that she is African, get a life , black people come in all shades,
We are the first people on earth , so we are going to and have to come in all shades, So I guess you want to say all Africans are pitch black to the point you can't see them at night and every black person should be brown skin or darker to be pure, YOU'RE SILLY angry angry angry angry angry angry sad undecided
YOU ARE MAKING AFRICANS LOOK INGORANT , YOU'RE PATHETIC , GET SOME INTELLIGENCE AND GO BACK TO SCHOOL !

Wow shocked lipsrsealed

But I am not surprised, It happens here in the states too, we just call them jump-offs ( smdh- Shaking My Damn Head), Its to the point that we TV shows which glorify it. If I catch anyone female that I care for doing this I am going to just say " Everytime you accept an offer , the demand of your Kat will get lower", Walls do talk and disease ( both physical and mental) do spread around quick"

You are what you make friends and sleep with !!!

Most definitely, they will ask you for the Yellow fever vaccination certificate. Just show them and keep a straight face, don't laugh with them too much and refuse to give them $1. If they ask you what you have brought for them, tell them blessings from God!

Oh yes I and my friend will keep a straight face and would dress modestly , My response will be "The same peace, love and blessings from up above that was given to me" with a stern face.

Now I have to go get my vaccination asap !!

Thanks people smiley

@Ronaldo200 Did you see the custom officers check for the International Certificate of Vaccination from travelers from the US ?

@marcmuzman no I did not. I arrived both times via europe. I know the one which you are talking about though, my sister had to have it cos she doesn't have a Nigerian passport (invalid), but if you are using your naija passport it's not even needed. And even if you are using overseas passport I don't think they are really particular about checking it, it's just protocol as part of the obtaining the visa

Thanks Alot I am still going to get it to be safe I am coming through europe too but I rather have it than to be stuck at the airport . I have a US passport undecided
