These folks went to university to build a church, meanwhile wouldn’t be be surprised if the university does not have an adequate engineering or ICT center or proper science labs, or even if there are clean and livable housing for the students (whom these universities primarily exist for), or even medicine in the university clinic or health center (assuming there’s even one). My church has been searching me with that electronic gadget as you called it since after Boko Haram attacked my church on April 29 2014 at chapel of Victory, Bayero University Kano. Yes it's discomforting at times but it's a good proactive measure and if you value your security you won't have an issue with it. It's not like it'll stop bullets from entering your body but at least it gives a kind of satisfaction knowing that they care about the security of their members. It has always been illegal. According to them you're contaminating their book by touching it. I remember getting sent out of a mosque two mosque ago just for being there. The only cons I know is that after paying up I still need to flash my phone, I can't reset it, the security plugin won't deactivate and their agent can do anything

your friend should keep love aside and use her head. no matter how much the guy loves her now. sooner or later her love for him will be questioned. as in she'll be asked to dump her religion for his own cos islamically.. a muslim man is permitted to marry a Christian lady but it is not permitted for a muslim lady to marry a Christian guy. i guess it's because it's easier to coerce women into dumping their religions than the other way round.
