Politics / Orient Petroleum Oil Blocks Are also In Igga, Enugu, Not Anambra As They Claim by marocguy(m): 4:47pm On Feb 18, 2012
I hope this makes front page to inform the whole NL about some misinformation anambra state govt and orient refinery give out concerning the oil blocks on the anambra river block.
1. Most,if not all of the oil blocks belong to my community, igga in uzo uwani lga. Part of which is stretched to our boundaries with anambra and enugu states.
2. Orient petroleum has refused to include my community in its investment plan, rather refering to us as 'feedstock in OPL915 and 916' which they acquired.
3. They didnt pay compensation or even consult our community before engaging on exploration they started last year which is still going on with the base for the exploration company in my neighbourhood at my community.
4. Orient petroleum did not conduct EIA,environmental impact assesment as they did on their refinery sites in nearby border towns in anambra nsugbe, aguleri n co before commencing exploration.
5. No corporate social responsibility package lyk it was done to the anambra refinery hosts.
They are on their plan to exclude and claim the oil wells visibly after ignoring protest letters from my town.
Pls nairalanders,as the head of a youth group in the community,i am required to lead the fight. So far i have been calming tensions down. I wouild require any advice,or help anyhow. I have been trying to get good legal advice, especialy on the basic responsibility of oil companies to host communities. We are holding an emergency meeting i am chairing tomorow. I will be grateful to any who can advice proffesionally. My group may not even mind a legal assistance from a reputable legal firm or environmental agency/NGO help. Thanks.

the most honourable statement i hav seen from okija_juju on nairaland. You are the true son of your ancenstors.
Talking politically now,it is obvious that you dont accept onlytruth's candidacy. I present to you an offer. As the (un)official campaign chief of the opposition party ACN, Andreuweh Campaign in Nairaland, i hereby present you an offer at a critical period our candidate is trailing behind in the polls. Our party would need you to throw ur undying influence and support for our candidate. Bearing in mind your vast support base and influence in and beyond the igbo community on NL.
An official statement directing your supporters to do same, plus a vigorous campaign to that effect would go a long way sir, while you maintaing your high level criticism of the electoral body for check purposes.
On what we have to offer in return, i would engage you in an official high level discussions with you on behalf of our candidate for a possible prime ministerial post, with possibilities of making your 2012 ambitions,a reality afterwards with incumbency powers.
Thanks as we expect you to act a wise man you are.
Signed.

Nairaland / General / Re: Nairaland Charity Organisation- E-Helpers Network by marocguy(m): 8:11pm On Dec 07, 2011
i present a possibility of partnership with the new nairaland charity organisation to achieve a cloth one million almajiris project in katsina state initiated by a new change N.G.O, Beacons nigeria.  It is a cash free but rather new/fairly used clothing materials donations project with anchors all round the country for now.
Check www.beacons-ng.org for more details.
i am an anchor for the south eastern region and over a couple of days of start up,we have achieved a lot. Our target is to give good clothing to 1 million of these almajiris as our own way of effecting change in our society. I believe we can join hands and make this work. We have other projects coming up too. Thanks as i anticipate forming a working partnership to achieve with philantropist ladies and gents on NL

i tuk pictures, created and uploaded a thread on progress of the runway last week on NL.
@onlytruth,you can search my previous posts to view them and my report.

Sadly i missed a twitter meeting with the minister, stella oduah yesterday. I had loads of questions for her.
But frm last week to now, even by this morning on my way to work,i observed that the runway which i reported 98% completed last week,is almost completed. The fine layer has been completely constructed.
Other issues now remain the lighting and safety equipments on it which was obvhously not installed yet.
I just hope madam oduah does not dissapoint us like the former.

@okija,u are a very intelligent man i respect bt your controversial personality narrows ur options here. You have joined other tribes to bash everything igbo here and you dont expect to remain popular with the people in situations like this.
Your dissapearance from that list i am against, but your popularity among non-igbos can be detrimental to the purpose of this thread.
So taking out the unwanted possibilities,i think pointb was right to disqualify you. Others like dede1 and abagworo could have been there too.
But for the start, the four candidates here are not bad.
IMO,i hope the only elder Andrew uweh wins. And how come nobody is campaigning? I wud have changed my signature for campaigns for elder andre uweh, but our ezeigbo gburugburu is still mourned.

lwkmd, Okija shrine don show.
Anyway i voted d only okenye, nze na ozo of nairaland. Ozo andreh uweh! This man has done a more than anybody in pursuing the fight to save our fast fading away culture. I think with motivation as the igwe of nairaland, our reliable okenye wud do more.
Onlytruth represents a sane strong modern igbo man courageous enough to lead too,but when it comes to the core leadership values influence and familiarity with our culture and rites, i think it is Andreuweh.
Let the umunna speak, their voice and vote i stand with.
Ndi be anyi, ogwu ka o ha m na onu!

Travel / Pictures Of Enugu Int. Airport New Runway Construction by marocguy(m): 12:42pm On Dec 02, 2011
So after i posted the pics of the railway line construction in enugu last week, and some people indicated interest in knowing the level of work at the new runway constructed at the airport for the bigger aircrafts i think,i decided to do my season two of my independent unproffessional photo journalism. Since i take that route to work everyday too.

I decided to use transport cos i didnt wana worry abt parkn or raise unnecesary suspicion frm the local police post after the gate, also since the newly constructed runway is excluded and lying by the side to the airforce flying school.
I had to walk in from the gate. Sneaking through the FAAN office to get acces to the site.

It went afta work, around 5.30 pm, so i jst approached the workers there who looked a bit suprised to see me. I didnt luk lyk a worker thr. I had to calm that by telling them i was luking for emeka. Out of every 10 igbo men,u must have an emeka nah. So they told me emeka was at the other end and wont come till 6pm. So i just tuk my other fone, called my exrummate back in schl then, emeka and was telln him shit on d phone while i tuk d shots joor wit my other fone codedly b4 d other emeka go show cast my a.s.s.
As i was jst leavn the place, here came the governor and 82 div G.O.C entourages leavn d airport wit their ogas. Na so dem 4 catch me giv S.S.S say i be boko haram spy. Wetin i 4 talk?
say i com snap pics 4 NL?

Meanwhile, frm wat i can c,the runway is 98% done. No visible lighting and safety equipment on it yet. Bt thats gud progress by me.

Lukn 4ward to season 3 as i don dey feel lyk one Sahara reporters investigativ reporter. Lol.

No wonder he is stuck doing south east politics ever since.
No wonder chris uba had to punch and beat him to the ground in a physical fight.

@koko oh,i 4got. My bad. We shud get started with getting them accountable right away. As i said b4,i have delegated the work of sourcing the info about who gave the contract(i'm so confident of your ability on that),while i get attorneys to retrieve the contrac papers for Nairaland scrutiny too, since i hav started with showing the pics of work rate. Afterall we now have the Freedom of Information act to hold these bad leaders responsible.

How confirming whether its a state or federal project changes ur strangely curious very far away self na wetin i no undastand. Then d sudden vexation n harsh tone. Do i smell somethn? A common motive here on NL? No! Not on ma thread. Besides,i aint an allafrica.com reporter. Maybe u wait behind ur system 4 their evening news,i'm so confident it'll show up to prove that nothing gud comes to enugu through the state govt apart frm timely fed govt/world bank/imf assisted aids to the poorly developed region.

@koko,wetha na NRC or state govt,i no wan knw. I need an escape route to enugu morning traffics,me sef go patronise.
I knw the state govt has its own rail network plan already being worked on. You can pull up the info abt dat one too make we compare knw which is handling this one. They are even buying intra city trains as part of the masterplan as i heard.
Anywhich way,i'm happy 4 ma town. With work goin on at the international airport plus d state govts own developmental efforts, gov. chime's commitment, enugu is growing. The future is bright
