On Sunday, 6th August 2017, during the celebration of the Holy Mass in St. Philip’s Catholic Church, Ozubulu, gunmen attacked the people in the church, killing some and wounding some. The following is the record of victims of the attack:

ANAMBRA MASSACRE:

Analysis on How a murder that occurred four years ago in South Africa led to the massacre in Ozubulu.

Ginika, an Mbaise native, grew up in Ozubulu, and was taken to South Africa by Aloysious a.k.a Bishop, to start a "joint venture". It was reported that the "Joint Venture" became a boom, and Bishop opted to pay off Ginika, and Ginika refused thus ensued a quarrel.

Ginika,raised in Ozubulu, but of Mbaise parentage, took the matter to Mbaise Kin in South Africa and accused Bishop of plotting to kill him. Sometimes later, Ginika was assassinated in South Africa, with accusing fingers pointed towards Bishop, who denied the killing.

This event set of retaliatory killings, with many of Bishop's associates murdered in South Africa and Nigeria. It was said that Bishop escaped several attempts to kill him, and have always come out unscathed during each attack.

But back home in Ozubulu, Bishop is well loved. He placed elderly women on monthly cash transfers, built churches and granted scholarships. Two months ago, Governor Obiano commissioned a 12km road built by Bishop and held him up as a role model for others to emulate.

Back in South Africa, Bishop was being sought after by rivals from Mbaise clan, including his some of his own Ozubulu Kin, who despised him.

This case has been allegedly adjudicated by traditional rulers/elders in Ozubulu and Mbaise since 2013 who sued for peace, to no avail. Assailants trailed Bishop to Ozubulu, and made attempt to kill at the St Philips Church, a church he had built and donated to the Catholics. However, Bishop was not at the 6am mass, leaving the Assasin to kill his father and other worshippers.

This case is still very much open,because there are fears the associates of Bishop may carry out a reprisal elsewhere either in SA or Mbaise
