ComputersRe: Help! Spammers Are Killing My Cafe. by Martins00(m): 10:26am On Jun 06, 2008
biggjoe:
Hello people,

Out of ignorance, some people and even some cafe owners believe that it is the yahoo guys that move cybercafes. With my experience, that is totally untrue.

These guys stay longer in cafes and that, any cafe owner will agree, does not necessarily mean more spending. The long hours they spend in cafes are cheaper. It is called bulk time and bulk times are very cheap.
When they stay all that long in your cafe with cheaper tickets you earn less and thats as simple as that. Regular users walks in, buys regular ticket, do their deal and leave thereby creating space for another user.

In my own experience, due to EFCC raids, many students (99% of my customers are students) feel more relaxed browsing in yahooze free cafe and that means higher patronage and believe me, it is working for me. Some cafe owners around may not agree but I have seen the two sides of it.

That is why I still need to take further step in discouraging yahoo activities at least in my own place. I don't think I need anyone to tell me that I'm foolish to stop scammers in my cafe because I know what works for me.
i don't know of other cafes but stopping them is very good for my business and thats just that.

thats why I am still looking for meaner ways of ending it. I need someone to suggest something workable.
@bigjoe
I feel you real good. As much as i hate this whole thing about Internet Scams being sent from Nigeria, but i really must confess it'll be a long fight to counter all measures these dudes use for their practices. Like they say, "nothing is impossible".

For now, i would only suggest going psychologically against them might help. e.g placing Notes that servers are being monitored and in events of suspected Scamming, perpretators would be handed over to the EFCC and prosecuted.

There is no Software that could detect a Scam mail. Only receivers of such mails that could report such events to the mail Carrier eg Yahoo, Hotmail, etc and the authorities for them to take action. Trillions of mails are being sent daily from different servers and its almost impossible for one or an ISP to control each outgoing mail. The so called Spam Blockers, Detectors, Killers works with information based on frequent occurence from a specific IP address or a soecific E-mail address. The Software has a database with millions of suspected Spam mailers, IP addresses and possibly where they operate from. Logically, you can tell how the rest works.

For now, Nigeria has no Bureau controlling its Servers so anyone could send anything from anywhere or into anywhere without being detected or controlled. Well, for me, i think the ISP should responsible for controlling its servers and not accusing their customers for what they aren't responsible for.

You've been hit with the annoying Raila Odinga.gif virus also known as "Kibaki Tosha Tena Virus". follow this link to ease your pain

@poster
To avoid more harm to your system, do NOT download from that site given above. The True Sword software being offered on that site offers little or no solution concerning Odinga Raila.gif aka Kibaki Tosha Tena Virus rather it installs a spyware on it. U might loose all your data if you go ahead with the download.

Avoid downloading from that site!!! My Mcafee software has a red (no go area) sign on that site. The person tht offered you that link just typed that file name in Google.com and pasted the first result here. Install a portable AntiV software on ur system.

Technology MarketRe: What Do I Look Out For In Laptops? by Martins00(m): 6:23pm On Jun 05, 2008
Tell me exactly what u need ur Laptop for and i'll tell you the right processor speed and type you might need. The whole principle on how it works won't do u no good at the moment cos it might be too complicated.

Also state how much you are willing to give out. But most importantly what exactly do u want to use it for.

22 ways to make a girl smile ♥
No matter how gay you guys mite think it is, to us females its cute and sweet, its the thought and the little effort that countssmiley

1 . Tell her she is beautiful or gorgeous(not fine, or sexy)

2 . Hold her hand at any moment . . . even if its just for a second.

3 . Kiss her on the forehead/ neck.

4 . Leave her voice messages to wake up to.

5 . When she is upset, hold her tight and tell her how much she means to you.

6 . Recognize the small things . . . they usually mean the most.

7 . Pick her over all the other girls you hang out with.

8 . Write her notes. (she loves them)

9 . Introduce her to family and friends . . . as your girlfriend and not your chick!

10 . Play with her hair.

11 . Pick her up, tickle her, and play-wrestle with her.

12 . Sit in the park and just talk to her.

13 . Tell her funny jokes, tell her stupid jokes, or just tell her jokes.

14 . Let her fall asleep in your arms.

15 . If she's mad at you, kiss her.

16 . Give her piggyback rides.

17 . Bring her flowers

18 . Treat her the same around your friends as you do when your alone.

19 . Look her in the eyes and smile.

20 . Let her take as many pictures of you as she wants.

21 . Kiss her in the rain.

22 . If your in love with her . . . tell her.
Totally unrealistic and childish! Well. . . , not my taste.

Technology MarketRe: What Do I Look Out For In Laptops? by Martins00(m): 8:25am On Jun 05, 2008
largie:
Hi Nairalanders,
Please i want to know what to look out for in buying laptops.I mean what makes a good laptop and by the way are gateway laptops any good.thanks
I guess the most important factor you would have to consider when buying a Laptop is your pocket. U might also ask yourself what exactly do u need it for. Its very important you know exactly why u need a laptop and what exactly u may need it for when buying one. These factors determine what exactly you should look out for when buying one.
Laptops come in different configurations, sizes, quality, designs and also prices. Nowatimes, Laptops comes with entertainment packages which makes it of course more interesting and expensive. When buying a standard Notebook, u should consider its Processor speed (depends on ur applications), Hard Drive (determines Software and data tht could be installed or stored), its Design (depends on ur taste), its RAM ( fastens applications), Battery type, and others.
Don't listen to people that would tell you a special Brandname is good or not cos Laptops are not produced in Nigeria. Dell, Hp, Fujitsu-Siemens, Panasonic, etc are all good makers of Notebooks but like i said, it all depends on what exactly you need it for. If you need help in choosing one, i could be of good help to u but pls dont "throw ur money out of the window" in the name of buying a Laptop.
