FamilyIf I Were To Be A Woman. by martinslanre(op): 4:51pm On Nov 22, 2017
And if i were to be a woman, I will beg the one I choose to be my man and ask of him before I go into his house/home that he should make me anything he wish, anything he wants except a full-housewife. I will promise him all he want, whatever he needs as guarantee will I provide. Be it fidelity, obedience or honesty as long as he does not make me a full-housewife. I will beg him to let me earn whatever I am qualified to earn or whatever I can legally and honestly earn. I will be anything to him except a full-housewife.

As exhausting as it will be, as physically or emotionally hard as it will be, it will be worth it at the end of the day. For independence gotten from been able to provide for petty things will always be glorious. For it is a natural phenomenon for men to go through hard times at some point, I will then be to him a helping hand instead of another burden he will have to carter for.

The exhaustion from working and getting back home to cook and care for the children will be too good for me, for the tiredness will be much that I will care-less about suspicious text messages that might push my jealousy to the point of killing him. While being a working class mother also pushes a sense of a super-woman into the heart of the children, a woman who can get what she wants and that can raise a girl-child with good self-esteem.

I will beg him till he sees sense in it, not just for my sake alone but for his sake and that of our offspring that needs and deserve a super-woman as a mother.

PoliticsFayose's Ekiti, Ambode's Lagos by martinslanre(op):
There is this great Yoruba proverb that sums up everything about Fayose and how he seems to not get into trouble considering all he has said and done... "Omo eni oni buru ka fi fekun paje" it translates thus "Ones child can never be so bad to be left for dead". If any other person, politician tries what he is doing or what he has done he would have gone for it. The people he crossed their paths will probably look at him and say "omo wa no ni, e pa ti si egbe kan" "he's our son, just let him be" or maybe his charm is just as good as he claims “Oshoko 1”
But it does not change one fact, one true fact, that Ekiti does not deserve Fayose. That Fayose is the Governor of Ekiti baffles me. He's intelligent, I have heard him speak on TV, there's wisdom within him but it does not make him a leader. I do not know how to put it but I strongly believe Fayose is not the type of person that should govern a state (no disrespect). Federal allocation aside, I'm sure he cannot boast of sourcing for any meaningful income into the treasury of Ekiti state. Or is it not funny that he prides himself with his "Stomach Infrastructure" policy. Anytime I lay this claim to an Ekiti indigene, the response I get is “he is the governor, it doesn’t mean he cannot catch fun too” and that is right in a way, except that he creates so much time for such things, devotes so much time to activities that won’t change or affect the average Nigerian in Ekiti. With the type of allocation Ekiti gets and the type of human resources they have, he should know better that he needs to put in extra strides. Ambode with the allocation, resources and expatriates at his disposal cannot even afford those public display of fun because real men know leadership is Real Business and that everyday should count.

To think of the fact that Ekiti says it is the Fountain of Knowledge makes the situation even worse. That a state elected him as their leader and happy to let him lead shows how bad the situation of that state is. The slogan of Ekiti state was Fountain of Knowledge but they changed it to Land of Honour. Ekiti state is now bereft of knowledge and I'm not hearing anything honourable about the state either.

It brings me back to Lagos state. There are strong calls for Local governments to be truly autonomous. With that we will gradually find ourselves where Ekiti is someday (God forbid). An autonomous local government is a good thing, because the local government understand its own problems and will attend to it faster instead of waiting for the state government to come to their rescue. But the problem with it is that when you visit our local governments you find people like Fayose heading them. People who don't know how to put into the system but how to take from the system and when the system is dry they don't know what to do or what to work with. There is no local government leader in Lagos state that can be trusted with 1 Billion or any that can boast of turning 500 million into something meaningful, that is if he does to not try to embezzle chunk of it. By making them autonomous, one day maybe by chance we will have one of them ruling Lagos state and like Ekiti state Wisdom and Leadership will cease to be in synchronisation. There's a saying that "what's not spoilt does not need repairing, you only fix what's broken" So for now it is better to leave them the way they are and let them enjoy whatever they are enjoying because the system does not need any tampering with for now.

Oga Fayose is free to come to Lagos state to open the history books to learn how things work, to learn how Tinubu turned Lagos state to a multi-Billion Naira IGR state or how Fashola woke up a sleeping Mega city or how Ambode the Magician is presently working like a robot that does not need rest (the results are there and visible to the blind and audible to the deaf, Lagosians are grateful) or simply ask Gbajabiamila how he can share Tablets to secondary school students while he a governor can only share cheese balls…but if he cannot do any of the above, he should just take a leaf from Aregbesola’s book and go off the radar or just keep quite till people forget he is still in power. Otherwise, wearing kembe and abeti aja while beating drums or eating pomo on the roadside during working hours will only say exactly what he is, a Joker that is just catching fun.
PoliticsWe Now Lack Wisdom As A Nation And The Consequences Are Clear For All To See by martinslanre(op): 9:56am On Aug 10, 2016
Anytime I come across anything or read something about this great man, I usually have an amazing sensation in my heart. Sensation born out of great respect and admiration. Till now I still see this man as the greatest Yoruba Man to have walked the face of the earth. Was never the president but the sway he holds in my head is far greater than that which Obasanjo can ever have on me even if Obasanjo ruled this nation for eternity, the type of sway that makes me think the deeds of Tinubu as great as they are,are only written on the sands of a seashore soon to be washed away.

But as soon as the sensation dies out and I am back to reality there are some questions that always pop into my head "is it possible that our level of intelligence as a nation is diminishing? Or are we just blind by the chase of gain so much that intelligence seems to be of no use to us anymore?"

I am not sure if I have direct answers to those questions or even if the ones I think are the answers to that question are correct. But when I look around closely i see a nation deprived of wisdom and the consequences clear for all to see. "My people suffer for their lack of wisdom" -Hosea 4:6.

The people we call leaders have lots of certificates and honors to back up their stands in the society, yet if you pay close attention to their actions and inaction you will realize lack of intelligence and lack of knowledge. Their lack of intelligence and knowledge which was born out of greed and total love for oneself alone. The only time they prove their intelligence is when it is time to loot the common good of their followers and even in that, they prove and validate their foolishness even more. Niccolò Machiavelli once said "Deviousness in itself requires a great deal of intelligence and wisdom". The people we call leaders steal and do not even know how to legalize their stolen funds, they are so dumb they don't know what to do with the stolen, looted funds because there is absolutely no intelligence in them. Is there any intelligence in burying currencies in farms or storing hard currency in air-conditioned soak-away pits?

Confucius said many years ago "Put faithfulness and truth first, and follow the right; the mind will be raised” if our leaders can not see any reason to do things out of love or any reason to be faithful they will never reach the level Awolowo reached. They may dress like him, they may wear a replica of his glasses and claim they believe in his ideologies but they will always fail and the greatest of their achievements will be like foolishness when placed side by side to that of Chief Obafemin Awolowo.

It's simple, they don't care. In fact no leader in Nigeria cares about what history and generations to come will say about them and as long as riches and gains come their way then damn the generations to come, damn what history will say about them.
They can continue for as long as they can, because the youths that hold the biggest power as at now are busy chasing exactly what their leaders have been chasing "Riches and Gains" and the ones that are not chasing are on Social networks discussing if they'll marry a woman that can cook or if it's right for the pastors deceiving them to have beards or not.
Till the Nigerian youths recognize their worth/power, till the Nigerian leaders turn a new leaf, intelligence will far away from us.

PoliticsThe Western Nigeria, Nigerians And The Truth by martinslanre(op): 5:01pm On Jul 11, 2016
There's Boko Haram and Fulani Herdsmen from the North, our brothers from the East are clamoring for Biafra while our kinsmen from South have Avengers. There seem to be one particular thing from each region from Nigeria that threatens it's peace and harmony except the Western region. We in the Western region have peace and harmony.

Our desire for peace and harmony runs through our vain and was passed to us by our great father's fathers down to us. But our unquenchable thirst for peace should not be misunderstood for weakness, instead it should be seen as a sign of strength; strength born out of wisdom and uncommon knowledge. Our great fathers before us know and we that are here now also know that the value of peace is of inestimable value and that is why we will always be ahead of them and that is why our land will be the point of convergence to all other region when they need neutral ground.

Our peaceful state makes it easy to think and reason "Omo Yoruba Ronu" and that makes us see what they are yet to see. The unity we clamor for is not for our sake alone but for the sake of everyone that is still within this nation as at this point in time.
The south wants to go, the east wants to go. May heaven and the universe punish and never forgive any Nigerian leader that will sanction that move, because it will be hard to see people we once call brothers to end up suffering and in disarray. South Sudan got it's independence 5 years ago and today there are over 1.6million South Sudanese that are displaced, more than 850 thousand registered south Sudanese refugees in other nations while more than 270 thousand are displaced inside Sudan itself. What baffles me is that the people that are suffering the most are those who don't know the genesis or the reasons for the disintegration. Those who called for it are in good conditions and leaving like kings and queens.

If you are Igbo(east) or from the Niger-delta (South) you should ask yourself some critical questions. Why fight a war you know nothing about, do you know the origin of the agitation apart from those your parents told you?
Will those who tell us to fight and protest on the street boldly come out with their wives and kids to demand for what we are demanding for?
Ojukwu ran when the going got tough, Tompolo is on the run as at now too, Asari Dokubo built his private university in another nation...Will those people telling you to do what you are doing run when the going gets tough again?

There are mechanisms to running a nation and those should be put in place first before going if it becomes compulsory and necessary to go. If any of the two regions leave Nigeria as at now it will be a successful suicidal attempt. The leaders that will be leading those nation will be the same leaders who have been and are still currently looting their allocations and eating what belongs to those regions. Those regions have governors, senators and representatives if they will lead them well in their future nation then we should see the signs without stressing our eyes now " Sunday to ba ma dara, ale Saturday lati mo"

We can and we will surely make it together as a Nation. No other black nation is arguably better than us even in our mess, now imagine us in our greatness or when we are operating at our rightful potential. Our population and diversity is in itself a blessing and I don't mean to be rude when I say a rightful working Nigeria will be rubbing shoulders with USA UK France, all we need are leaders who genuinely love us and splitting won't provide any region with the perfect leader.

CelebritiesRe: Uju Stella Blasts Burna Boy's Mum:'If U Think U Are A Mother,Act Like One'(pics by martinslanre(m): 8:07am On May 22, 2016
TPAND:
Burna boys mom's comment is just insensitive. A girl cliam she's pregnant for your son, instead of telling your son to invite her, so you could get an authentic details of the whole event, you rather went on displaying traits of being a bad mother.

Good mothers will never act this way, I can't imagine this woman's attitude, it's totally unexpected from a true mother. Let's face fact, women are their own worst enemies. Nobody knows the pain of having a man deny the responsibility of fathering a child. Thousands are quick to judge and label Uju a lekki slot even persons who has never seen her neither heard of her or seen her pics on Instagram.
She didn't do anything wrong by going to the blog to get Burna Boy to accept his responsibility. He was refusing to pick this girls call for crying out loud and even made a song about it, saying one time can't get a girl pregnant. How silly. Nigerians Think! That's one of the thousand reasons our country is this way. It seems quite a lot of persons don't know the pains and groans of being a single mother, you have both father and mother, stop judging Uju, let her son also have a father and mother like you have.

Burna boys mom's actions just suggested the kind of home she's from. Not all mothers deserve a happy Mother's Day. This woman is one of them

BURNA go and accept your responsibility.
If only you know what it takes to raise a son and to finally see him flourish. I wish you success, that is when you'll see the hidden power of a mother trying to make sure her son don't fall back to the starting point again. I'm sure you must have said the same thing when Banky's mum sent that brother T away from her sons house.
Mothers are always looking forward to grandchildren,it only becomes a problem when they feel the girl don't deserve their son.

What have you gained as a zombie... Just mention one of them...

What can you be proud of that buhari has done that has affected you positively in one year?

Among the promise which have you benefitted

Buhari as failed this country, and if Nigeria wants patience and hope we wouldn't have voted change, we would have sticked with Gej then hope and wait...

Now we know that change can be negative as opposed to what they made us to believe.

I have little to say to you sir,you are entitled to your opinion. No matter what I say, I'm sure your mind is made up about the subject already and that is the greatest of all danger.

PoliticsI Voted For Buhari by martinslanre(op): 9:05am On May 20, 2016
I voted Buhari. Yes you read that right, voted a man the older generation told me was a no nonsense incorruptible man. The man the older generation kept talking about before the last election. I obviously didn't live any of those days before 1985 they usually talk about.

I voted with strong hope and huge enthusiasm. Will I do that again?
To be sincere I will gladly do it again. If you ask me to pick between the great stories I heard about the Buhari/Idiagbon led administration and the 6 years of the previous administration, I'll gladly pick the former a million times.

Though it looks like a hopeless course right now, but each time I pray for the success of this administration I know I do so not because I want to brag or to be able to say "I told you so" but because I know we are running out of time as a nation and the sooner we get it right the better for all. The hardship we are facing now is far greater than the comfort we had during a corrupt led administration but I believe we even deserve more than that comfort too. We are crying now, but we should remember the hour before dawn is usually the darkest. Or maybe it's just easier for me to say this because I'm still someone's responsibility

The truth is I feel it too, in fact I can say I feel it to the marrow of my bones each day, but the hope I'm having in this hopelessness surrounding us as a nation will keep pushing me to believe in this administration. If he gets it right then the nation gets it right and if the nation gets it right then the sacrifice would be worth it. The greatest scourge to our common good as a nation is corruption and if the other parties feel this administration is witch hunting them, then they should bring out their game mode and bring forth the competition that democracy is all about so when they atone the power seat too they can also witch hunt those that have witch hunted them because at the end of the day if PDP jails every APC member because APC members jailed them then the advantage falls on the side of the common man.
Perhaps if they keep jailing themselves then the ones that will not end in jail can get it right... But till then no one should wait or pray for this administration to fail because they want to say " I Told You So", if he fail we fail because like a wise man told me last Friday night "this is not about Buhari,it is not about APC again. It is now Federal Goverment,Nigeria, Nigerians and the problems of Nigeria/Nigerians" .

PoliticsDo You Want War? by martinslanre(op): 10:30pm On May 17, 2016
With just this little challenge and youths are already asking for what they know nothing about. I am always baffled when they start talking about tearing it all down, killing them all, start a war etc
Only a man that have not seen one that will pray for it. You have eaten this night or have something to eat that is why you can say you want war. Ask a soldier about war and watch his emotions, mood while he talks about war. Even men stronger than you shit and wet themselves when war came.
War doesn't solve issues, it brings all down and the biggest losers in war are we the common man who have nothing working for us. Do you have private jets, how much of food do you have in your store, how much dollars can take you far away when it turns to hell, can you keep fighting for that same course when bullets start raining down on you and all you can see is gore and damnation and all family lying dead.

Don't pray for war brothers. Work on yourself and then educate your mind. The best solutions to our collective problems are within us.

To be great again we need the wisdom of the elders and the strength of the youth, so even if they've milked us dry I want you to know we need them as much as they need us. We are a young nation and I believe we will still get it right, sooner or later

War is not the solution. I pray God help you understand though. God bless us.

SportsPep In England by martinslanre(op): 8:12pm On May 16, 2016
It is possible one can be so much successful over a short period of time that people will question how you got to do it. Arsene wenger is yet to win the UCL yet Pep is a failure because he didn't win it in 3yrs with Bayern, Jose Mourinho didn't win the UCL with Madrid yet he wasn't considered a failure. What a standard.
Doesn't matter though,it took me less than half a season to realize how special Pep was before he went 4 seasons winning more than 13 trophies.
3 semi finals in 3 years...It's a competition not a throne or inheritance. The same Bayern that won 1 CL in 15 years. You now think it's a must Guardiola must win one in 3 years. All the teams that have beaten Guardiola's teams in semi finals won the Champions League (Inter, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Barcelona). Maybe Athletico is next ? But does it make him a failure ? NO

Now he is coming to England and I can not wait to see him get the groove on already. I am not saying he will win sextuples and trebles year in year out but I'm certain if they let him do it the way he wants, then I think the glorious days will be frequent for the blue side of Manchester.
