The Odemwingie goals and assist here. Probably player of the week perfomance by the Nigerian (only competition is Tevez):

SportsRe: Siasia With First Squad - Big Revolution! by marutimon(op): 11:07pm On Jan 14, 2011
I never said the revolution is great. I'm just saying it is a big revolution. Out of 20 outfield players from the World Cup Squad only 6 are left in the squad. Of those 6 Adeleye, Echeijile and Obinna were essentially fringe players at the World Cup.

How else would you call it if not a revolution? Siasia has not invited 70% of the squad!

I too am not a big fan of the Amoebi call-up, but I very much like the rest of the team.
SportsSiasia With First Squad - Big Revolution! by marutimon(op): 8:55pm On Jan 14, 2011
GOALKEEPERS: Vincent Enyeama (Hapoel Tel Aviv, Israel), Dele Aiyenugba (Bnei Yehuda, Israel)

DEFENDERS: Chibuzor Okonkwo (Heartland), Ayodele Adeleye (Metallurh Donetsk, Ukraine),Taye Taiwo (Olympic Marseille, France), Michael Odibe (A. C. Siena, Italy), Olubayo Adefemi(Skoda Xanthi, Greece), Elderson Echiejile (Sporting Braga, Portugal), Joseph Yobo (Fenerbahce, Turkey)

MIDFIELDERS: John Mikel Obi (Chelsea, England), Obiora Nwankwo (Inter Milan, Italy),Victor Moses (Wigan Athletic, England), Bartholomew Ibenegbu (Heartland), Olufemi Ajilore (FC Groningen, The Netherlands)

FORWARDS: Ahmed Musa (V.V.V. Venlo, The Netherlands), Osaze Odemwingie (West Brom, England), Obinna Nsofor (West Ham, England), Shola Ameobi (Newcastle, England), Emmanuel Emenike (Karaburkspor, Turkey), Peter Utaka (Odense Boldklub, Denmark)

Frankly I am surprised with no Kalu Uche or Lukman Haruna, but all in all he brought in all the best defenders (Okonkwo, Adeleye, Adefemi) and all the perspective untried forwards. From the squad at the world cup only 2 GKs, 4 defenders and 2 strikers remain. That means 12 new faces (although Mikel is just coming back to the squad and not a new face).

Good to see two local guys (Okonkwo and Ibenegbu).
SportsRe: Cristiano Ronaldo The Greatest Of All Time? Here Are 100 Players Better Than Him by marutimon: 1:05pm On Jan 14, 2011
Not true. Ronaldinho got almost everything he knows from Okocha, so that makes Okocha the most talented to ever play football smiley
SportsRe: Cristiano Ronaldo The Greatest Of All Time? Here Are 100 Players Better Than Him by marutimon: 9:27am On Jan 14, 2011
I've closely followed football since 1990. But OK.

Lets stay with people from the modern days. The following people never were and never will be better than Cristiano Ronaldo (I will omit defenders like Zanetti and GKs like Buffon, as comparing defensive players to offensive players is ridiculous in itself):

People on the list that are not and never will be better than CR:
Ronaldinho
Pavel Nedved
Lilian Thuram
Marcel Desailly
Edgar Davids
Luis Figo
Xavi
Andres Iniesta
Luis Suarez

On the list the only players still active that were possibly better or better than CR are: Lionel Messi and Ronaldo. And even those two are debatable (as to who is better between Messi and CR the debate is still open).
SportsRe: Cristiano Ronaldo The Greatest Of All Time? Here Are 100 Players Better Than Him by marutimon: 9:48pm On Jan 13, 2011
CR may not be the best player ever, but he is better than 80-90% of the people on the list. And I hate CR.

SportsRe: Goals From Nigerians All Over The World by marutimon: 4:17pm On Dec 13, 2010
Hey

The topic of the thread is "Goals from Nigerians all over the world". If you want to comment on how Nigerians are coping in general you should make a separate thread.

Additionally thing is that following goals is much easier than following defenders or midfielders. Finding out whether a Nigerian scored a goal is way easier than finding out how well John Doe played in the Austrian League.

BTW:
Polish League Division 1 (second highest division)
Striker Charles Nwaogu (Flota Swinioujscie) has scored 13 goals in 17 games and is the topscorer of the division before winter break. The player could be playing for Lech Poznan in the spring (Lech is the team that are the shock team of the Europa League).

Given that the Turkish Federation are adamant at having him play for them it's high time Siasia talked to him, before it's too late.
