singlessubway:the simple truth is that most graduates will have to be taught how to apply for jobs, and the best way to arrange their resumes and cover letters for job applications. I know several intelligent peeps that had no idea of these little but important things until I told them. They don't even know email etiquette and the likes. Most graduates are in the dark concerning these things, and the sad part is that some don't even know that they don't know ![]() |

SETA (Nigeria) - Multiple Vacancies The project SETA (Severe Typhoid in Africa) project is a two year cohort study of typhoid in Africa. It follows on from an earlier typhoid epidemiologic study (TSAP) in Africa. SETA Nigeria is screening and recruiting typhoid patients at the University College hospital and some other hospitals and clinics in Ibadan. SETA is also identifying neighborhood controls and following them up for one year to determine complications and consequences of infections. The project is improving typhoid diagnostic capacity in the study area and it is hoped that it will subsequently aid efforts to develop and deploy effective typhoid vaccines. SETA is currently recruiting for the following positions: SETANIG22 Research Assistants : SETA research assistants assist the program officer and investigators to coordinate and execute this exciting multi-site hospital and community based project. Research assistants will manage patient and control recruitment and follow up. They serve as essential link between clinical, laboratory and data handling investigators and perform other tasks as needed for the project. Candidates should have solid organisational skills, including attention to detail, good team work abilities and capability to multitask. Preference will be given to registered nurses. Other applicants must have tertiary level education, normally at the bachelors or HND level in a healthcare related course or one of the biological sciences. Applicants must have excellent written and oral communication skills, quantitative abilities and must be computer literate. Preference will be given to candidates who are familiar with healthcare systems and can work independently. Health research experience and some proficiency in Yoruba and/or Hausa are additional advantages. Applicants should indicate whether they would prefer to work in full time capacity or as evening/weekend part-time research assistants. SETANIG23 Data Clerk : A SETA data clerk will perform and oversee the entry of clinical and laboratory data, and reporting to the SETA data officer. The data clerk will also provide technical support to research, laboratory and field assistants performing data entry. Candidates should demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, good team work abilities and capability to multitask. Applicants should have quantitative tertiary level education (minimum qualification is an OND), evidence of computer based data expertise as well as excellent written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of statistical packages such as SPSS or STATA will be an added advantage. Preference will be given to candidates who are familiar with healthcare systems or who have prior research project experience. SETANIG26 Phlebotomist : The phlebotomist will work with the study personnel to recruit volunteers and collect biological specimens. Applicants must be biomedical scientists with appropriate training and expertise in phlebotomy, including experience of aseptic collections of blood culture. Compensation and Conditions of Service These are an extramurally supported, time limited contract positions and are non-pensionable. Each position offers a renumeration package that is comparable with similar positions at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan.
