I believe if they required you to renew your passport they would send a message to this effect. This was the experience of my husband. He was asked to renew his passport in January/ February and a month later we received the passport request letter.

Yes it’s possible. When I was sent the passport request letter my families passports were with another embassy so I knew we wouldn’t meet the deadline. I sent a web form explaining this and kindly asking for an extension. Although they didn’t respond. When we got our passports back from the embassy and the deadline had passed I still sent our passports and documents for VFS. I noticed a week had passed and I hadn’t heard anything so I decided to email the vfs office. That was when I was told they hadn’t been able to work on our passports because our request letters were expired. They asked if I had proof that I had requested for an extension so I sent them a screenshot of the webform. Shortly after that I started getting updates from VFS and within a week passports were returned. Hope this helps.

Had your passport request letter expired before you sent your passports to vfs? This happened to me. I had to call and email and was told this was the reason for the delay. I was able to show proof that I had asked for an extension after which they proceeded. A week later passports were returned and visa issued. I would suggest calling or emailing the vfs office you sent your passports to for an update.

I tracked on DHL and it has been delivered but it’s been over a week since it was delivered and I haven’t received any email from Nairobi vfs to confirm receipt. I got an email asking me to upload Police Certificate from each country/state where I (the primary applicant) and my spouse have resided for six months or longer since the age of 18. We uploaded original documents of our various police reports when we first submitted our application so I am not sure if this request is for a new set of police reports or for us to re-uploaded the police reports we already have?

Yes they will so please have this ready especially since you are flying to the US. I flew from Abuja. Before entering the airport they asked to see my passport visa page, Covid test and Covid vaccine card.

2.) How many hours of your covid test result is required
Check your airline and US CDC website for up to date information but at the time I flew it was 24hrs before your flight.

3.) Any tips for flying United Airlines to Washington DC e.g Choosing a seat, fit to fly etc

I think seat choice depends on you and what you want. If you don’t want to be bothered then obviously pick a window seat. If you know you’d like to easily go to the bathroom every so often then pick an aisle seat.

If Dulles is your Point of entry I would say they’re pretty relaxed. Have all your documents ready just in case. I traveled at 30 weeks and I wasn’t even asked what I was coming to do in the US. All I was asked was where my final destination was and how long I was staying.

Extra tips, dress comfortably but try and dress smart too.
