“Our security services, the Police, the Armed Forces, Navy, Air Force and para-military, intelligent services are also operating in an environment that is not the best. “If all of us should go on long strike because our environment is not at its optimum, then definitely we can never get the Nigeria of our dream." True that...I concur with GEJ on this. @ASUU, It is unjustifiable to cause affliction on innocent Nigerian students. Stop The Strike ASAP. |
jaidor: @OP, I just have to let you understand that there is absolutely nothing to justify the lingering strike than for improved living condition (Hike in salaries) of the lecturers. It's glaring they all want to live large like our politicians, they feel if someone could be earning Millions with an ordinary Waec, Hnd or Bsc how much more the Phd holders and Profs...but my answer to that is simple, if u want to earn like them, then quit your lecturing job and join them. (Late Yar'adua and GEJ did it successfully) rather that inflict agonies on the innocent students. I mean, tell me just 2 ways in which the strike is really affecting the govt (for the ones in currently in power though)? I guess except for 2015 election's sake. They live their lives normally as if nothing is happening and at the same time you guys (Lecturers) would still accrue ur monthly salaries. So that means u have absolutely nothing to lose sequel to the strike.1000 Likes! You said it all man. Bravo! |
Today makes the 53rd year that Nigeria our beloved country was granted a downright autonomy. However some citizens as usual believed there is nothing yet fascinating about Nigeria, hence celebrating her birthday would be considered as a waste of public fund while some are in support of the celebration but either way it goes, everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, on that note, I had to make an appraisal with regard to the independence. So far so good we have been able to identify our challenges and difficulties in Nigeria, my concern therefore is that I find it elusive why our so called leaders are still being chary towards outrightly tackling the problems. For now I’ll try to focus on the Presidency, I heard Mr. President addressed some national issues on a media chat with him three days ago and I was so disappointed by the shambolic manner in which he articulated most of the issues that was raised during the chat. Mr. President couldn’t even affirm if truly the leader of Nigeria's deadliest sect (Boko haram) is killed as speculated by JTF or not, the group allegedly killed about forty innocent students some hours before the presidential chat and he didn’t deemed it fit to share condolences with the family of the deceased all he did was to exonerate himself by uttering this statement; "many people think the issue of Boko Haram started during my tenure, but no it didn’t, when they killed Yusuf their leader in 2009 I was the VP and not the president…". It was until after that chat with him I realized he doesn’t really have what it takes to be a leader and could not have done what is expected of him as a president (as he can't give what he doesn’t have) afterall he got to that position with serendipity, so I’ll cut him some slacks for now, however 2015 is another opportunity for us to revamp our beloved country by our votes. Conversely, as much as we want to blame our government for dilapidated status of Nigeria, it is imperative for us to realize that we as Nigerians have to impinge our own quota in all ramifications for us to achieve the much desired transformed Nigeria that we have been panting for. For us to transform Nigeria, we Nigerians need to be transformed. The destiny of Nigeria lies our hands. If only we can embrace integrity, honesty, and be benevolence towards each other, rather than having the ‘chop make I chop’ mentality. Larger percentage of Nigerians if elected as a president or governor today would unequivocally trend the ways of our current and past leaders by enriching themselves. So where is the hope? It’s is important for us to have a discerning mentality. Yes it was inculcated to us as we often see them in luxuries and of course everyone desires to be in luxury, but the question is at the expense of what and who? Millions of the masses right? It’s alarming and unsavory how majority of Nigerians now portrays an idiosyncrasy of caring less about anybody who is not biologically related to them, whereas this isn’t who we really are but rather what the circumstances we found ourselves has made us. I strongly believe that compassion towards humanity is obligatory for us to make Nigeria a better place, if only we can treat each other as though we indeed share the same pedigree. But how do we achieve this? It’s simple, there are three momentous or pivotal entities that I believe are thwarting this great nation from forging ahead. They are; (1) The cost of governance (2) Religion (3) Ethnicity. Their combinations have resulted in a synergic effect and have landed us to where we are today. 1. The cost of governance in Nigeria is unreasonably higher than it ought to be. According to the latest report, Nigerian politicians are second highest paid in the world after India! The report documented that a Nigerian senator earns more than the American president! Isn’t it ridiculous for a president to demand for 1 billion naira as his feeding allowance? So I asked myself, what does he feed on? It is glaring that this is the major reason why our leaders seem indefatigable towards remaining in authority and could go any length to deal with anyone who tries to challenge them, for example why on earth would Gen. Buhari still be adamant towards becoming the President again? Politics should not be a ‘do or die’ affair as they have they portrayed it. Hence there is an exigent need for their salaries and allowances to be reduced by a large percentage. This would render the political offices unattractive and ensure that only those with inherent and genuine leadership qualities would contest for the offices. 2. Religion: It fusses me a lot how religion suddenly became a serious issue in Nigeria, I mean we only have three major religions and yet we could not muddle through them, then I wonder what the story would have been if we were like India with over 300 religions. We found ourselves in one religion or another as a result of our personal belief and decision and therefore it should not in any manner cause a national havoc. If only we could keep our religious believes within our caucus and resist from trying to forcefully or violently impose them on one another. Afterall we were all given birth to first as a human before we decide either by ourselves or by our parents which religion to practice. Hence humanity should first be given preference before we talk of our religion, and of course it is inhuman to slaughter a life which you cannot and did not create, again it is inhuman to subject a 13 year old girl to sexual abuse and psychological trauma all because of a religious belief we could go on and on this issue but I choose to windup here. 3. Ethnicity is the third factor that I consider detrimental to the growth of Nigeria, I don’t seem to comprehend why we purposely decide to segregate eachother when the creator made us as one. Yes we speak different languages, have different morals and practice different cultures but that doesn’t make us dissimilar. I see no reason why in our universities, some students pay high tuition fee and others pay far less just because they had pedigree in the state, some even go to the length of reducing the pass mark for an enrollment into any course of study in favour of the indigenes. This is abysmal and should not be advocated by our government. It should only be effected for foreigners. Sometimes I ask myself what really makes a person an indigene of a state, is it all because his/her forefathers stayed in the state for a very long time? Then what happens to those that were given birth to in that state and spent all there lives there? Bearing in mind that they are also going to be forefathers to other generations. Honestly I do not see any justifiable reason(s) why we allow our moral believes and different cultures to outshine our unanimity and oneness. Until we free ourselves from the ethnical prison in which we are confined, then we would a step closer to our destination. On a final note, we all familiar about the issues embattling Nigeria, how then do we unscramble them therefore becomes our major challenge. We can’t go on pretending day by day that someone somehow would soon make a change, we are all we need to make that change, though it may seem rigmarole but if we all could be resolute and make a stride in that regard, surely we would make Nigeria a better country. We are the change, the hope, and the panacea! We are Nigerians! HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY! Written by: Babajide Ogunnaike |
@op even if you get the correct answer to ur question, of what relevance is it going to be to you, or me or even Nigeria as a whole? |
tzetzefly: You're a fresh graduate as claimed, no job, no family ties, no properties in Nigeria. These indicators gives any CO a flash light about an intending immigrant. Thanks man I really appreciate ur point...I'll see what I can do to improve my chances. Thanks |
@ayobj Thanks for the reply I have never been to the US before, I am a Fresh graduate, I am single....although I have a sponsor who is ready to finance me. Hw long was the conference you went for then. Cos mine is just for 6 days and I hope it's not too short. Could you pls give the details of hw you interview was. +what are the likely questions that i'll be asked. |
tzetzefly: If only you've travelled previously for a similar conference abroad, then convincing the CO that your purpose is solely for conference and not immigration, might not be difficult.I have never been to the US before, this is going to be first time of applying for Visa...But the intended conference is very related to my field. Can I convince the CO dat I just want to gain a first hand experience cos we don't even have anything of such in Nigeria. |
tzetzefly: Do you have a stable job, are you married, do you own assets..? Your reply to these questions will give the forum an idea on how to assist your cause....I am a Fresh graduate broda...not married, no assets but have a sponspor. |
I salute you all. I urgently need to know how feasible it is to get a VISA for attending a Conference in the USA from Nigeria. I found a conference that suits my career path and that is definitely going to make a huge impact on my CV (If attended). But my fear is that, haven read some comments I noticed it is ONLY Masters and PHD visas that are most likely given to we Nigerians. Although I am at the verge of registering for the conference but I need to know the likelihood of me getting a VISA cos it will be so devastating if after paying the conference fee and Hotel booking I am denied VISA (Cos the fee is non refundable)....that is why I am putting this to all the Travel Gurus and Experts here on this thread to pls kindly enlighten me...I would'nt mine to refrain from applying if getting a Visa is not certain and precarious. Anyone who have ever gotten a Visa through conference OR knows someone that knows someone that has gotten a VISA to USA through Conference should also pls share his/ her story. Thanks y'all (Anticipating Replies) |

Hello everyone, this is to inform you all that the motivational and indeed inspirational on-air personality that anchors the popular show known as "sharing lives issues with chaz B" hitherto on inspiration Fm 92.3MHz as now 'port' to the Rhythm Network. After been off air for a while now due his impromtu resignation at inspiration Fm is back on air as he has promised his fans. He is back and better now on the RHYTHM NETWORK! He can now heard at other states like ABUJA, BENIN, CALABAR and many others in lieu to only Lagos state @ d formal radio station. He can now be heard live in about 5 states from 6:15pm from Mon. To Fri. on the Rhythm Network (Lagos: Rhythm Fm 93.7MHz). Although for now the time is shorter than it used to be but I am sure he is working on it, cos I believe if given the platform, Chaz B can transform Nigeria to the country of our dream. Covering a wider range is really an achievement for him. Thumbs up for you Chaz B....More grease to your shoulder. I wish you fufilment in this new platform. |
The Writer: All these guys spewing "ranking", I wonder the basis for that ranking. In which an institution with a 4x4, 12-man room is ranked above one with a 15x15 2-man room. Or one with decaying classrooms is ranked above one with well-functioning and adequately- equipped classrooms. Let's not talk of cultism. @The writer: Guy how old r u? or are you a neophyte? Oya sharply go make ur own ranking and put ur 5star sch for numba one....make u post am for here too o..LMAO @topic, dis one wey every body dey praise govt Unis for here, make una dey prepare for hike in their fee too o....my guy Fashola kukuma don start for LASU. Buh the concept is y pay 3M as tuition fee in naija where employment is nt guaranteed n even if you secure one d pay is nt worth, when u can afford to study in Havard University or MIT and be gainfully employed there OR work in either shell or chevron in Nigeria without any interview or test! and earn minimum of 1m monthly. #Common sense at work!# |
At last CHAZ B finally confirmed his resignation via FB. Although he did not say any word as to why he left. But with what he said one can intuitionally feel he did not leave because of health issues and that he is going to be with 2 another Radio station soon. Here is his statements, "Dear friends, family, fans n loved ones, GUARD YOUR HEART WITH ALL DILIGENCE FOR OUT OF IT FLOW THE ISSUES OF LIFE. THIS IS JUST TO INFORM YOU ALL THAT I HAVE RESIGNED FROM INSPIRATION 92.3FM, FOR THIS REASON YOU DID NOT HEAR ME ON AIR LAST NIGHT AND WILL NOT BE HEARING ME AGAIN ON THAT STATION. FOR NOW THIS IS ALL I CHOOSE TO SAY, PLEASE BEAR WITH ME AS THIS OFF AIR SITUATION WILL ONLY LAST A SHORT WHILE!" personally, i am satisfied with his comment. GOOD BLESS CHAZ B |
Like for real?...I believe there must still be smth untold, he was talking about his plans for singles which shud kick off by 3mnths time(cupid express) about a week ago, so how come he left just like that without form of notice. But which ever way it is...Gud bye Chaz B and that implies to me; Gud bye Inspiration FM. cos as for me wana wana has neva been and can neva be a substitute for him. Infact while he wasn't around for abt a year I neva tuned to the station talkless of the show, even hearing wana's voice yesterday made me turn off ma radio. I am just addicted to CHAZ B. He is a Hero, a Mentor and he gives me inspiration+I love his voice and his way of reasoning. Meeehn ama miss him. CHAZ B pls tell Lagosians why u left inspiration fm...we are curious. |
teejayomoalaja: Why na??na ur papa close am abi....oya moderator come and delete this trash cos it's misleading. |
Let me quickly add this, a very close friend of mine in the same dept. (@faculty of science) left LASU with a low 2:2grade but now he is a first class student in Unilag/Maulag....It's just so obvious that LASU's academics is'nt a junk like some others.... Believe it or not, if u can make it in LASU then u can make it in any institution in the world! |
seeugabson: HMMMMMMMMMMM, i graduated from lasu, but i am no longer proud of lasu..........it is one of the worst schools i have ever seeneeya sori o, jamb form neva close nah, so u can choose the best school in 9ja.......or beta yet, go jump inside the nearest Lagoon to you. |
