That 15 cedis is actually 15,000 old Ghana cedi. Supposing Ghana just removed 3 zeros instead of 4 in their currency redenomination (and nothing stopped them from doing so), so that 1 dollar=1,500, would it still rank better than the naira? No. Is 1,500 not the same as 15,000 old cedi or 15 new cedi? Is the value not the same?

Should tell you how simplistic these currency rankings are. People should learn to be smart. Bloomberg offers the best currency rankings
