The notion that “it’s not compulsory to do water business” misses the mark. people run water businesses even in developed countries, and it’s perfectly normal. I just searched Google and found a U.S. EPA report showing that some American communities, even in urban areas, rely on decentralized water systems. Private individuals handle their own borehole drilling, water treatment, and distribution. The EPA also notes that over 13 million (in 2022) and 45 million (in 2025) U.S. households depend on personal water sources, like wells they’ve built and maintain themselves. This isn’t some backward anomaly; it’s a standard practice, even in a wealthy nation. Water businesses aren’t odd, they’re a global norm.
Your thinking leans socialist, but a capitalist mindset puts economic impact first, not noble intentions. If noble goals trumped economics, the U.S, with all its wealth, would have universal healthcare like the UK or a railway system linking every state like China. It doesn’t. Childcare, internet access, affordable public transport, free education to university level? Basic amenities, sure, but the U.S. government leaves them to the private sector. That’s no accident, it’s why the U.S. stands as the greatest nation in history. It thrives and can cut-off any country without because its citizens don’t depend on the government for everything. Socialism sounds nice, but it doesn’t work. Capitalism, with all its edges, delivers.

Modified: The reason why you find few generator mechanics in Ghana is because Ghana is a developing country. Developed countries like the US have generator mechanics who work on industrial generators e.g the mining sector, trucks that transport frozen foods big agricultural companies etc.
oga please stop posturing nonsense online please it's making you look some how..heck people are into private business of electricity generation, private education, schools, have you heard of private roads toll gates?pipe borne water is a social amenity..you crying that Government should not build a water treatment dam in Lagos is hilarious because of people doing water business...there will always be market for them but in ideal situation..there is not even a need for them in a state like lagos with watee everywhere..all the government need to do is to lay pipes to all households .it's not rocket science...the America you quoted.is as large as west Africa..with vast plains ,rugged terrains wilderness etc .alot of households are far away from the metros..hence why they have yi fend water for themselves..you wont see that in Europe cities ...nor in American cities..but surburbs , settlements..lagos is a city and its suppose to have a good functional watwr system .that has nothing to do with being a capitalist or socialist..thats nomenclatures is non of my business...water is a government social amenities responsibility like road ,health care, education, security, electricity....all this still have people on the private sector offering services for them if you dont want government own

I'm not kidding, I'm only talking common sense. If generators have more economic benefits than the national grid then government can consider it but that's not the case... For instance, using fossil fuels to generate electricity makes more economic sense for the government, it’s cheaper than solar, nuclear, wind, thermal, hydro and all the greenhouse nonsense and it also provide cheap energy for the manufacturers in the United States to compete with China... Energy is what drives industrialization, and any country serious about growing needs power, affordable power hence, Trump ripped up the Paris climate deal —for a reason, not because climate change is not a threat but it's a scam that's dragging the West's economy backwards. Green energy’s nice, but for the U.S. to keep its economic edge, cheap fossil fuels are the way to go. Governments don’t just do things because they’re noble; they weigh the economic side too. Lagos, if the government supplied water to every home, think about the ripple effect. You’ve got water treatment workers, plumbers, water distributors, water tanker distributors, companies selling bottled and sachet water, water chemicals treatment sellers in Ojota ( I used to be one then) etc. arguably, about 200,000 people in Lagos rely on those jobs. How are they supposed to feed their families if that dries up? Nigeria’s already short on jobs—do you really think a smart government would cut off these people’s livelihoods like that? Think it through!.
Oh jeez ...wow .when youbhave not left the shores of Nigeria, you won't know the value of pipe borne water, when you have not left Nigeria..you wont know that some people have never seen generator in their life..its because you been deprived of this basic amenities that's why you are saying what you are saying..

Am not going to dwell on your conspiracy theory and maga hogwash about green energy, etc .

Saying fossil fuel is the cheapest form of energy is extremely laughable so let me stop there .

No economic sense in not having a water treatment plant for a metropolis..look at American movies..every town always av a watwr towers, thats the first thing they makw aure its there before thinking of building any other thing.

Obasanjo, atiku and now ibb make abacha look like a bad man,

Abacha administration oversaw an increase in the country's foreign exchange reserves from $494 million in 1993 to $9.6 billion by the middle of 1997, and reduced the external debt of Nigeria from $36 billion in 1993 to $27 billion by 1997.

Abacha also constructed between 25–100 km of urban road in major cities such as Kano, Gusau, Benin ,
Funtua , Zaria , Enugu, Kaduna , Aba , Lagos , Lokoja and Port Harcourt.

Abacha brought the privatisation programs of the Ibrahim Babangida administration to a halt, reduced an inflation rate of 54% inherited from Ernest Shonekan to 8.5% between 1993 and 1998, all while the nation's primary commodity, oil was at an average of $15 per barrel.

GDP growth, despite being estimated to be higher than the 2.2% growth in 1995, was largely limited to the petroleum sector.

Overload of the battery can affect the panel. I mentioned overload of solar power.
Just like electricity, everything can burn when too much load is on it (change over get burnt), why? because everything is connected.
I understand the wiring etc part too. I've not seen one physically burn but people have worked with have seen, in this same Nigeria.
you understand absolutely nothing about either Physics or electrical engineering.
A solar panels is merely a battery charging component,it powers nothing even if it does it's miniscule to the extent that it's power is not enough to burn or ignite anything..the change over, electrical circuits you mentioning are constantly under loads .am trying to explain like 5 years old so that you won't say am using industry jargons to confuse you.

No mattwr the load on the battery oe inverter..its does not affect the solar panel.

Let me explain how electrical current works..just like a river with its source, the river current from its source is moving from point a to b ,that movement is the power..the speed at which the water moves is the current..somw might be slow, some fast like rapids...power can diffee depending on size ans depths of water , especially power is mainly by volume.

Has you will hardly see a river flowing back to its source same way you can never see a battery overloading a solar panel.

@naptu.cant the state government or federal government force down transportation price since price of dollar has come down with price of petrol from 1200 to 850 now?why are transporters not reducing price of transport when price of fuel decrease but very fast to increase when it increases, forcing a transport fare reduction will go a long way for the common man to feel the effectiveness of the government policies..if nothing is done to force them to reduce the fares am afraid there is no gains in the policy then.

Government providing water is a good thing but do you think it's what Nigeria need in this economic quagmire that we are?. I don't think so. There's unemployment everywhere and you're thinking of blocking other people's source of income?. There are thousands of individuals that supply water in Lagos, they've invested millions and billions in the business and you think blocking their business is healthy for our economy?.
Government can't just do things because it's good, except in a socialist state, they consider economic impacts too.
There's a reason why US don't have universal healthcare insurance, there's a reason why USA don't have a national railway system that connects every single state...
are you freaking kidding me?so because people are importing electrical generator and solar power, Government should not provide conducive power to the people, because someone is selling pure water which was an aberration when I waa young Government should not provide pipe borne watee again..go to Abuja and see how people are enjoying pipe borne water which they still pay for .

Enugu means city on the hill. Enugu always had pipe borne water in some parts, just like Lagos state. The major challenge that Enugu faces, just like other cities and towns on hilly and mountainous areas is water depth. Water seems to dry up leading to lack in those areas.

Constructing boreholes can be very expensive in those areas. For example, Lagos which is a lowland costs 150-250 k to construct boreholes depending on the areas. In Enugu, just like other hilly areas, one can spend cash much as 3m naira to construct boreholes, as depth matters.

Lagos has the challenge also around Ire Akari estate, Isolo, where water depth is deeper. Ire Akari is on the hilly side. But if you find water in the area, just like in other cities and towns, it is much better than you can find in other areas.
ire aakari water gave me typhoid when I attend Apata...plus nothing hilly about that area..Lagos is mostly a plain marsh , swampy land .

The cause of burning solar panels like the picture depicts above is when the solar power is being overloaded.
They help in calculating the load your solar panel can carry, if it can't be enough, you shed your appliances. Use 1 for some hours before changing etc.
Just get a good solar person for consultation.
that picture is fake or the cause of the fire is not solar panels...solar panels does not over load .never .. nothing like that...the inverter or battery yes .but not the panel..the work of the panels is simply go charge the battery, there is no load on the panel..the op is just a fear monger and should be highly discouraged.

What are the possibilities of a solar panel going up in flames on a roof is this a common phenomenon or is it unusual? I have plans to get one soon.
the possibility is zero..this OP is just been mischievous... solar panels do not generate that can of power that can burn or ignite anything..where the transformation comes into play is in the inverter..if you say that one is catching fire..I can believe you..but a solar panel?very highly unlikely.

CrownLands:
The images shown and the caption do not match the installation of solar panels on the roofing.

The op should present an analysis of the percentage of fire outbreaks resulting from solar panel installation.

Studies will reveal negligible. However, anybody intending to install solar systems in a building should employ safe, standard and professional procedures.

Use a professional. A tenant can write an indemnity letter to the landlord; to repair or replace damages resulting from such installation.

Finally, landlords!! Insure your buildings. They are investments.
don't mind the mischievous op..that image shown is not the same..also external factors might be the cause of the fires and not the panels..
