OP and guys. I swear, the worst side effect of masturbation is the fact that it steals your happiness and it also there's stigma. People, like me, having this 'addiction' are not pitied and sympathised, but are judged and discriminated. The adverse medical effects are also present.

I have been on this battle for almost 8 years now. And it's been defeating me.
I've taken decision a couple of times to stop but along the line I fall back in.
This time around, I've met some friends here on NL passing through the same challenge and we have been helping one another as we fight this addiction. I've gone a week without masturbating and I don't feel the urge that bad again, for now. If you want to join us, send me a pm and I'll add you to our group.

On the second question: I wouldn't advise them not to. It's not my decision to make, like premarital sex, if they choose to indulge in it, it's their choice.

That's a fallacy! I don't think the issue you have is masturbation.
From what I understand you have two issues
1. You are fixated on sex: I believe you are a virgin at your age there is high hormonal rage which if not properly channeled could make you always have the urge..
2. You are not busy ( intellectually and otherwise): everyone gets Hot once in a while, but I know one gets Hot more when he/she is not exerting one's self. Take your education more seriously, read more, hang out more, join your departmental organization. Keep busy.
Once in a while the urge would come, if you feel like rub one off, but don't let your life revolve round it.
Getting a girlfriend wouldn't help much as you would just start having sex, which also comes with as much self guilt as masturbation( if you are a christian).
Be happy, don't focus your life around it. Live, if you love sports, play football, basketball etc.
If you are tired at the end of the day, believe me na sleep go dey your mind.

Mastubation is very dangerous. I was in ur shoe before but I'm free now for the past ten years. Look, there are some steps u need to take to stop masturbation if u are not yet married. One, see mastubation as abnormal and something u must get rid of cos u may not believe it, there are some evil spirit with the act and this make it difficult to quit.
Secondly, stop watching pornography and delete any sexual picture or movies on ur phone. Stop reading anything relating to sex either on romance section in nairaland or novels.
Third, stop being in isolation for now until u conqure the act. Also dedicate ur time to something meaningful rather than sex. Run to God for help and make determination to quit at all cost.
Finally, there is something attached to masturbation that some of us don't know. Masturbation goes with badluck and intense hatred from people. U must notice that u hate urself once u engage in the act. That is the feeling of people towards u as well. I'm in my 40s and I assure u that u can only conqure by ur own will and determination. 2. Pornography. Even if you can't stop watching porn. Make sure you rub pepper on your palms BEFORE watching porn.

I've been in this forum for years now but for the sake of this post, I decided to create a new account to conceal my identity and prevent the humiliation that I have actually brought upon myself from getting much worse and severe.
