Foreign Affairs › Trump: If I Make A Deal With Iran It Will Be Better Than Obama's by Mattswaggz(op): 9:56am On Jun 14*. Modified: 12:13pm On Jun 14 |
“If I make a deal with Iran, it will be a good and proper one, not like the one made by [former US President Barack] Obama, which gave Iran massive amounts of CASH, and a clear and open path to a Nuclear Weapon”, the US president writes on his Truth Social platform. “Our deal is the exact opposite, but nobody has seen it, or knows what it is. It isn’t even fully negotiated yet. So don’t listen to the losers, who are critical about something they know nothing about. Unlike those before me who should have solved this problem many years ago, I don’t make bad deals!” His post comes amid sharp criticism from political opponents over reports that the deal does not include discussions on Iran’s nuclear programme. https://aje.news/auncy3?update=4598612Cc; Nlfpmod, Mynd44, Seun, HumbledbYGrace, osystein

Foreign Affairs › Trump Says US-Iran Deal Will Be Signed On Sunday, with Strait Of Hormuz To Reopen by Mattswaggz(op): 6:17am On Jun 14 |
President Donald Trump said Saturday that a deal with Iran "is scheduled to get signed tomorrow" and the Strait of Hormuz will soon reopen. The U.S. launched Operation Epic Fury against Iran on Feb. 28.
President Donald Trump and mediator Pakistan said on Saturday an initial deal to end the war in the Middle East would be signed on Sunday, although Iran denied the signing would take place so soon.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the two sides had agreed on a framework for a peace deal and that Islamabad was preparing for an electronic signing on Sunday, to be followed by technical-level talks next week.
Trump said in a social media post that the deal with Iran was scheduled to be signed on Sunday and that the Strait of Hormuz, a vital artery for global oil supplies which Iran has blocked, would be immediately "open to all" after it was signed.
Earlier on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei cautioned against commenting on the timing of the signing.
"We will have to wait and see about the exact date of the signing of the memorandum of understanding, although it will not be tomorrow," state media quoted Baghaei as saying.
"The possibility of this happening in the coming days cannot be ruled out. However, due to the hesitation of the other side, we must be cautious in making any comments about this process."
A U.S. official who spoke to reporters later declined to be drawn on the timing but said: "It's a great deal and a very strong deal." It is not the first time the two sides have appeared close to an initial agreement on ending the war that began on February 28 with joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran. Sharif said on X: "We are closer to a peace deal than ever before."
The war has sent global energy prices sharply higher and killed thousands of people, mostly in Iran and Lebanon, where the war has revived a conflict between Israel and Iran-aligned Hezbollah militants. https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/iran-peace-deal-looms-while-new-military-action-flares-near-strait-hormuz-2026-06-13/

Politics › Defence Minister Musa Blames Israel-Iran, Russia-Ukraine Wars For Arms Shortage by Mattswaggz(op): 8:27pm On Jun 13 |
The Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has said the ongoing conflicts involving Israel, Iran, the United States, Russia and Ukraine are making it increasingly difficult for Nigeria and other countries to procure military equipment needed to tackle insecurity.
The minister also lamented the absence of a comprehensive national database, saying it was hindering the efforts of security agencies, particularly the police, in tracking criminals and preventing crimes.
Musa stated this on Saturday while delivering a keynote address at the Nigerian People’s Strategic Conference and Defence Exhibition 2026 in Abuja.
Speaking on challenges confronting the country’s security architecture, he said global conflicts had disrupted access to military hardware, making it imperative for Nigeria to strengthen local defence production.
With the war in Ukraine, Russia, Iran, the U.S. and Israel, it’s been extremely difficult getting equipment. Because most times they do down payment because they have the money and they produce most of these items. So even when you go to get, they have booked for them, and so it’s difficult.
"The only solution is for us to produce what we need,” he said.
He commended indigenous defence manufacturers and innovators, urging greater government support and patronage for locally produced military equipment.
The minister also appealed to the National Assembly to support the creation of a comprehensive database for Nigerians, describing it as critical to effective policing and national security.
"I want to also appeal to the National Assembly on the issue of a database. We must develop a database for every Nigerian in the world. There is a capacity to do that.
“It is only with that that it will make the job a lot easier for security forces. The Nigerian police is struggling because they don’t have a database to track and trace,” he said.
Musa, however, praised the police for their performance despite operational challenges.
“I commend them because I think they are performing magic. Some of the crimes they’re able to bring out, I can tell you it’s extremely difficult without a database,” he said. https://punchng.com/defence-minister-blames-israel-iran-russia-ukraine-wars-for-arms-shortage/#google_vignette

It's either a poorly thought take or yet another malicious swipe at the church. There's no church i know that holds vigil during elections. The biggest church vigils are on Friday nights, not Saturday nights BTW. Also, most ward elections results are counted and announced in the day. It's collation at the center that takes time due to physical travel to location. It's not the job of voters to monitor votes, that's why you plan and have agents at every point. This man is just too clueless and dull to lead our great nation. Not entirely clueless....he has a point and you might just be one of the opposition supporter from your write up. |
