The Special Assistant on Digital Communications to President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad has dropped a hint on the candidate the aggrieved Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors (G5) will be supporting for the 2023 presidency.

Ahmad, who is the Deputy Director, Special Media Projects/New Media, of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) suggested the G5 Governors would be supporting Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

PoliticsAs Long As I’m Alive, I’ll Keep Pursuing Presidency – Atiku by maupe(op): 11:49am On Dec 22, 2022
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has said the presidency is a life-long ambition.

To this end, Atiku vowed to keep pushing until he succeeds in becoming Nigeria’s president.

Speaking with Financial Times, the PDP presidential candidate said he would keep pursuing his ambition as long as he is alive and healthy.

“It is a life-long ambition and as long as I’m alive and strong and healthy, I will continue pursuing it,” Atiku said.

The former Vice President is one of the top candidates vying for the 2023 presidential election.

It’s widely believed that the Waziri of Adamawa has been vying for the presidency since 1992 when he stepped down for MKO Abiola.

During the last presidential election, President Muhammadu Buhari defeated him to retain power.

However, mixed feelings have continued to trail Atiku’s 2023 presidential pursuit, as some believe that he has no chance while others feel he is better positioned to win.

PoliticsNigerians, Please Vote For Me- Tinubu by maupe(op): 8:36pm On Dec 09, 2022
Bola Tinubu has asked undecided Nigerians back his presidential bid to lead, maintaining he is the best candidate for the nation.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate said this in an exclusive interview in Channels Television’s London Studio.

“I want to hurry them and appeal to them to get their PVC ready and vote for me. I am not campaigning for any other person but for myself and my party,” the former Lagos State governor said.”That is what I what. If you have not made up your mind, please, do so!”

He also noted that Nigeria has to “work hard” and be consistent with its foreign policy to better the country’s image on the global scene.

According to him, Nigerians “should be the pride of the nation” wherever they are.

Tinubu’s recent comment came days after he spoke at the Chatham House where he spoke about his plans for Nigeria if elected as the country’s president next year.

One of his major points during the session centred on education, saying he would employ more teachers and also introduce student loans.

“The education system is to change. We would overhaul it and tinker with some areas with the philosophy that no one would be left behind,” Tinubu said.

“There will be student loans for all. We are going to reform the Almajiri system, We are equally going to build more schools, recruit more teachers and train them.”

He also promised to make his government youth-friendly and all-inclusive.

“Youths are the greatest asset of tomorrow,” the former lawmaker added.

“Youths can even develop technological languages on their own and make a better 21st-century approach to governance in Nigeria,” he continued.

PoliticsTinubu- I Would Never Vote For Peter Obi, He's Very Incompetent by maupe(op): 7:36pm On Dec 06, 2022
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has said that he won’t vote for any of his counterparts if he weren’t contesting the 2023 general elections.

Tinubu specifically said he won’t vote for Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) if he weren’t on the ballot.

The former Lagos State governor stated this in an interview with BBC News on Monday shortly after his appearance at the Chatham House in London, the United Kingdom.

Asked if he would vote any of Atiku or Obi if he weren’t contesting, Tinubu said, “None, because they are not as competent as any other person out there. They have no track record, none of them is qualified except me.”

The APC candidate also said those criticising his source of wealth were driven by envy.

According to him, his wealth came from investments in real estate.

“I am not denying my wealth. I was the most investigated, the most accused governor in the opposition for eight years and since I left the office, I have not taken any government appointment, no government contract,” he said, adding that he doesn’t share any of Lagos resources with the state government

PoliticsThere Is No Fuel In Any NNPC Depot: IPMAN by maupe(op): 5:14pm On Dec 04, 2022
Ogun State chapter of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has said that no single Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, depot has fuel, blaming the current scarcity on the cooperation and Federal Government.

IPMAN, in a statement signed by the Mosinmi Depot Chairman, Otunba Femi Adelaja, and made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, attributed cause of the current scarcity of petrol in the State to the federal government and the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) failure to make the product available for its members at an affordable prices.

The statement read: “Leadership of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) in Ogun State has noticed with serious concerns, the scarcity of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) commonly referred to as petrol across towns and cities in Ogun State, with its attendant hike in the dispensing price above the federal government stipulated price.

“Be informed that this crisis was not caused by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), but rather, the Federal Government and the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), who have failed to make the product available for our members at an affordable prices.

“As we speak, PMS is not available in any of the NNPC’s depot across the country.

“The few litres being sold to members of the public by our members were secured from management of private depots in Lagos, who would sell the product to us at an exorbitant price of between N215 and N220 per liter.

“Prior till now, IPMAN members do get our supplies from the NNPC depots at N148.17k, but since it’s not available in these depots, the private depot owners in Lagos now sell to us at a price of N215.30k, excluding the cost of transportation and other handling and overhead costs.

“So, by the time we add other over head cost to the price of purchase, it brings the landing cost of fuel to between N245 and N250 per liter, excluding transportation, which costs charges N15 per liter, from Lagos to Abeokuta depending on the location to offload such.

“This implied that for us to dispense the product, which we got from a third-hand to members of the public and also meet up with the other overhead costs including running of the filling stations on generator and payment of staff, we have to sell at the price of N270 per liter which we are selling currently across Ogun State.”

The association, through Adelaja recommend to that the federal government remove subsidy on petrol, total deregulation of the sector as well as dedication of each of the NNPC depots for the service of the IPMAN members in each of the states including Kwara, as solution to the incessant fuel scarcity in the country.

PoliticsPhone Tracker For Aisha Buhari Was The Officer Who Arrested Aminu by maupe(op): 10:40am On Dec 01, 2022
More details have emerged on how a student of the Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa State, Aminu Adamu, was trailed and arrested over a post against First Lady, Aisha Buhari.

Naija News learnt that the police track team trailed the 24-year-old to his school where he was arrested.

Recall that Aminu in a post on his Twitter account had accused the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari of feeding on Nigeria’s money.

A police detective attached to the ‘Anti Vice Section A’ in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, Festus Josiah, in his statement filed as part of the prosecution’s proof of evidence against Aminu before the court, claimed that Aisha Buhari’s Aide De Camp (ADC), Usman Shugaba contacted him concerning the defendant’s tweet.

According to Josiah, he works with the office of the first lady as a phone tracker.

Josiah disclosed that his team travelled to Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, on a Monday and trailed Aminu for three days before they tracked him down.

The police operative in his statement dated 19 November wrote “When we got his phone, an iPhone 7, we saw the Twitter account on the phone. We also saw the (alleged offending) post.”

He said the undergraduate was brought to the FCT State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

According to court filings, Aminu’s confiscated phone has been sent to the Terrorism Investigation Branch, Force Intelligence Bureau in Abuja “for analysis” and “evidential value.”

PoliticsRe: APC: Tinubu And Joe Biden Are The Same Age by maupe(op): 10:28am On Nov 25, 2022
Joe Biden was born November 20, 1942. He is 80 years of age.
PoliticsAPC: Tinubu And Joe Biden Are The Same Age by maupe(op): 10:27am On Nov 25, 2022
A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, Mike Msuaan, said on Thursday that the ruling party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s age shouldn’t be a thing to debate on.

Msuaan compared the former Governor of Lagos State to United States President Joe Biden , saying the duo are of the same age range; hence age should not be a barrier for the Nigerian politician.

The Director of National Youth Mobilisation (North Central) of the APC Presidential Campaign Council urged Nigerians to borrow a leaf from President Biden.

He said, “The US president is as old as Tinubu. It’s not about age. It’s about what you have upstairs. Tinubu has the experience better than all of them.

“The right thing the president would do is to assemble the best hands for the country. He has been tested and trusted. He did it in Lagos and he is going to do it for Nigeria.”

Speaking about Tinubu’s competitive edge in the February 2023 presidential election, Msuaan said he couldn’t see the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi, competing with the APC flag-bearer.

The APC chieftain said candidates of the opposition parties are people with questionable character, hence they are miles away from Tinubu in the 2023 presidential race.
The Benue-born politician stressed that Tinubu would outshine Obi and Atiku, adding that the duo pose no threat to the presidential ambition of the former Governor of Lagos State at the poll.

Msuaan said, “We didn’t see Asiwaju contesting with Atiku and Peter Obi. These are people with questionable character. We know what Atiku did to this country. He threw the youths of the North-Central and this country to the street.

“The privatisation exercise that he mishandled that drove the youths of this country to be jobless. Under Atiku as vice president, over $16 billion was invested (in electricity) and up to date, we are still in darkness. Is that the person that should rule us? Or are we talking of Peter Obi who has zero records in Anambra State?”

The image of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar is conspicuously missing on the campaign vehicles of the Benue State chapter of the party.
The images of the vehicles which have been making rounds on social media have the pictures of Governor Samuel Ortom who is a senatorial candidate and those of some other party candidates in Benue.

However, the picture of Atiku was not included which might be further testimony to the resolve by Ortom and other aggrieved PDP governors (G5) who have vowed not to support Atiku’s presidential ambition except Iyorchia Ayu steps down as the PDP National Chairman and is replaced by a southerner.

Up to thirty vehicles were spotted but none has the image of Atiku printed on it.

PoliticsPDP G5 Governors Meet With Bala Mohammed by maupe(op): 3:14pm On Nov 09, 2022
The G5 governors are demanding the resignation of the PDP National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu.

Four members of the G5 governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have held a closed-door meeting with the Governor of Bauchi State Bala Mohammed.

The four G5 governors in the meeting in Bauchi State include Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State who was with his G5 colleagues to inaugurate some projects completed by Ortom in Benue State on Monday, was, however, absent.

Wike said they are on a solidarity visit to Governor Mohammed and to also discuss ways they can intervene regarding some challenges surrounding his (Bauchi governor’s) re-election bid.

The governors in a meeting with their Bauchi State counterpart.

On his part, Governor Mohammed appreciated the show of concern and listed some of the issues as anti-party challenges and treachery in the state. He added that he is also willing to confide with the integrity group (G5) about his fears and worries.

The meeting is coming hours after the Bauchi State governor met with the PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar in Abuja following reports that he (Bauchi governor) threatened to leave the party’s presidential campaign if the former vice president’s loyalists work against his re-election.

The most recent development is a further crack in the PDP which has been battling an internal crisis since the party’s presidential primary in May.

Governor Wike, who lost to Atiku in the exercise, claimed that the process was not fair. He is also demanding the resignation of the party’s National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu, insisting that he (Ayu) and the PDP flagbearer are from the same region.

Efforts so far to reconcile them have failed with Wike and his allies maintaining that they won’t participate in the party’s presidential campaigns.

By Farooq A. Kperogi

Twitter: @farooqkperogi

As Peter Obi’s acceptance surges across the country and the prospect of his becoming president of Nigeria is now a real, graspable possibility, we shouldn’t ignore the uncanny parallels between him and Muhammadu Buhari and between his zombielike, unremittingly indecorous, and compulsively vituperative online supporters (called Obi-dients) and Buhari’s supporters, most of whom later transmuted into Buhari Media Center (MBC) trolls on social media.

Like Buhari, Obi is being constructed—or, more correctly, reconstructed—as a blank slate on whom admirers are inscribing all kinds of positive, superhuman attributes. The inscriptions on the empty slates brook no dissent. Contrary evidence, however incontrovertibly factual, is met with the most brutal rhetorical violence.

Like Buhari, Obi has been propelled to the public imagination by riding on the high waves of populism even when they both lack the personal charm and the rhetorical ingenuity to engineer it by themselves. They have never articulated any profound policy positions, but their railings against an ill-defined “elite” of which they’re ironically a part, resonate with people who are angry with a dysfunctional political class.

Their supporters project their desires onto them and attribute to them a willingness and capacity to do what it takes to move the country in a different direction even when nothing in their history and predispositions suggests that.

In one of Buhari’s run for president, he was asked during a presidential debate how he’d address the decline in education standards in the country when his children were in UK universities. He had no coherent answer.

When Obi ran for governor of Anambra State, he pledged that he would so improve the education in the state that his children would return from the UK to attend Anambra schools. Well, his children not only still live abroad and never went to school in Nigeria, they’re citizens of a foreign country.

As I pointed out when Obi released his presidential campaign list that was riddled with avoidable duplications and omissions, a man who couldn't be bothered to even look at the list of his campaign council members—or, if he did, didn't know enough to know people who should be in it—won't be any different from the people we have had in the past.

The attributes people venerate in him were also projected onto Buhari in 2014/2015. One of my Obi-supporting friends said Obi "Not being greedy or avaricious on issues of money, not being flamboyant by living like a king while millions wallow in poverty, being able to save, being accessible to the people, listening to the people, etc.” are the proofs we need to know that he will be different as a president.

But people said exactly the same of Buhari. But see what he has become. Being in power is different from seeking power. Attributes such as access, empathy, etc. often disappear as sure as tomorrow's date when people get to power. I am friends with a man who used to be close to Buhari because he used to tell Buhari uncomfortable but helpful truths, which Buhari had said he admired. The man’s relationship with Buhari endured only a few months after Buhari became president.

Like Buhari, Obi is popular with a core demographic that is animated by religious and ethnic politics. On ethnic and religious tolerance, Obi’s record isn't different from Buhari's, according to media reports I've read. He called Ngige a Yoruba man in 2013, implying that it's undesirable to be Yoruba. In 2013, when Idemili women protested after being disenfranchised, Obi said the women were from Osun State in order to delegitimize them.

PoliticsOgunlewe- Yoruba Elders Will Make Obasanjo To Support Tinubu by maupe(op): 8:43pm On Oct 11, 2022
A former Minister of Works, Adeseye Ogunlewe on Tuesday expressed optimism that former president, Olusegun Obasanjo will support the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.

There had been speculations in the last few weeks that the elder statesman might support the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.

The former president on different occasions has met with the former Governor of Anambra State.

This is coming days after Obasanjo denied endorsing Tinubu ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

Ogunlewe, however, in an interview with Daily Independent said Yoruba elders will beg Obasanjo to support Tinubu’s presidential ambition.

He said the first step that needs to be taken is to canvass their position and let Obasanjo know that Tinubu is better than other presidential candidates.

The former minister described Obasanjo as a reasonable person, adding that if he is persuaded and shown what Tinubu can do, he will follow him.

Ogunlewe said, “It is when your stuff is low that is when he cannot support you. You must match him with intelligence because the Obasanjo I know will never follow you blindly.

“There is no sentiment in choosing our leaders again. We have experimented enough. Countries that are at par with us 20 years ago are now far ahead of us.”

Ogunlewe said someone must restore the glory of Nigeria, warning that if the wrong person is elected in 2023, the country will be in trouble.

He added, “I am so optimistic that with a president like Bola Tinubu choosing the best team, Nigeria’s lost glory will be restored.”

@atiku

Do you really want this dance?

Thought we agreed to keep it clean?

You have thrown the first punch: we shall throw the last.

Those that indulge in "spread my butt0cks" parties in Dubai cannot afford to throw stones at others.

Be warned!
