Thank you very much for your advice. But why will you say all this when they are yet to announce the results? Do you know my profile at all before telling me to try again next year? What If my name is on the successful list? And If you don't get it, does that mean others cannot get it?
At least I knew how competitive the scholarship was before I applied. So, lets wait for the final results before further step or advice.

To be honest with you, the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship is highly competitive.

Sometimes, it favours applicants with high CGPA or moderate CGPA blended with rich research experience.

What they evaluate is more than SoPs, CVs and all sorts; they sometimes look deep into relevant research experience and a perfect blend of academic knowledge - this is where CGPA counts.

If you are unable to get an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship this year, you can sort for other scholarship programs which are less competitive - make the internet your friend.

If you are planning to reapply for the upcoming Erasmus Mundus Scholarship - which will be available around October, it is high time you started preparing your application materials.

Try to get at least a publication - it is not a must though.

Take various online programs that are relevant to your proposed Erasmus program - make sure your proposed program will be offered the scholarship come October, you can contact the coordinator.

Try to do some voluntary duties.

If possible, try intern with a Prof or Doctor in your alma mater, tell him or her that you will be needing the experience for a highly competitive scholarship program.

Start toasting your referees, explain the situation of the competition to them - a strong recommendation letter will go a long way in boosting your profile.

Don't be sad.

You can try to take GRE and TOEFL.

There are limitless opportunities in the US.


China is not an exception; in fact, it is a very nice place.

you just used the right words. Anyway, am still in the process and the information I gathered is that legalization at the Belgian embassy after the MOE and MOFA is now #8400 per page. going by my calculations 9 pages for transcripts and degree certificate is over 75k and that's excluding DHL service.

I don't think you need to legalize your transcripts and if need be, the front page will be enough.

Scholarship is about Quid pro quo... Something for something. You spend something to gain something.

I am really on this same page with you. Even in the UK many schools doesn't accept applications from agent or any third party you have to get it right. This is evident in most top schools like UCL, Southampton etc

PTDF didn't mislead anyone.

While you thought that just being contacted was all that was needed to be a successful PTDF scholar, you didn't put into consideration many important factors and variables that'd actually get you on the final list. Some of these factors, you nor PTDF have no control of.

Firstly, those contacted aren't the only persons in the world that are considered for admission into the selected courses in these universities. These unis are well sought after by scholars the world over. The best the unis can do is that of reaching an "inclusive" agreement with PTDF. But the number of "qualified" scholars they eventually select isn't controlled by PTDF but by the school's admission process.

Secondly, these universities have quota for each department which they strictly abide by, unlike what you see in Nigerian unis where they just keep piling an unmanageable number of students into universities with no infrastructure. So students to staff ratio will be maintained. For instance the availability of research supervisors for a given area of research may affect qualified PhD scholars.

Lastly, the timeline of getting things done in Nigeria is so slow and undependable compared to that of developed countries. By the time other scholars will be done with the admission process, language courses and settling in to their courses proper, PTDF scholars may still be at the stage of processing visa. The only thing that is free and easy in this country is when your uncle that is a manager in that company offers you that job But if you want to get what you are deserving of you must sweat. I just hope things improve in this country.

I also wanted to apply to UCL but saw the instruction. Since it was not free I'm waiting for ptdf to help apply

There was application fee of £75. The mistake i made was applying before reading through the PTDF full instructions

You already have an Unconditional offer with them when PTDF gave out instruction that we are not to look for admission on our own? I wonder what's the fate of that your unconditional offer. Besides is the offer on one of the PTDF advertised courses? Plus, you can end the speculations of whether PTDF contacted them or not by simply logging an inquiry with them. I know UCL to have a very good feedback mechanism. And I'd like to know if the course you applied for required any application fees. In the meantime it's nice to read from your experience, the silence has been too loud. It's about time PTDF roll out some information.

My advice for you at this stage is stop pursuing any thing further with the school (if you don't intend on sponsoring your self). let ptdf do what they said on their site. I know you have already paid app fees, but let it go.

Yes i have applied before reading it on the ptdf website. However, i stated it clearly in my application that my intended sponsor is ptdf.

For Uni of Southampton, you need to have gotten your ATAS certificate and filled the CAS questionnaire, upload them and some other documents (your passport data page e.t.c). Find out from the school, I'm sure they have information abt that on their website

I have done all that when they ask me to apply. And in my application I told I am also applying to ptdf as my sponsor

Yeah, I already applied on my own and paid the application fee before realizing that they were to apply on our behalf. And my offer status is unconditional

Sorry for diversion pls. My school UCL ask me to send in my details for CAS. When I asked about the possibility of the issuance without deposit or proof of sponsorship I was told it possible that I only need a proof of sponsorship when I am applying for visa. This made me confused. This happened last week Friday.

Could it be that ptdf have contacted them? Because I already have unconditional offer with them.
