Business5 Ways To Profit In The Importation Business Admist The High Exchange Rates by maybrowne(op): 3:14pm On Mar 03, 2016
Ever since the rise in dollar and the fall in Naira, the one question that is being persistently asked by importers and intending importers is still viable and profitable considering the circumstances. The issue of high dollar rate and limit on daily international transactions has caused there to be a huge decline in the number of importers at the moment.

For the past months, the topic of discussion on my facebook group Mini-Importation Marketing Forum www./miniimportationmarketingforum/ (which as at now stands out by far as the largest and most informative group on facebook about the importation business.) has been how to profitably engage in the importation business in this period of a week naira.

My mail has in like manner been flooded with many of my subscribers from www.importationblueprint.com asking me about they can do during this period and if the importation business is still worthy of investing in at the moment.
I have been answering to the questions discreetly as the mails come in but then recently I saw this post on nairaland (www.nairaland.com/2937272/how-mini-importation-business-current#43395363 ) that triggered my will to write this post. While I went in to make something’s clear I discovered that there are a lot of people who are also stuck up in this same situation and will be looking for a way out, so I decided to write this post to explain how to get through this tough period without much of a scratch.

So let’s get straight to the point, in order for anyone to create an opportunity out from this current situation, there are some steps to follow. In this post I will lay out some methods of engaging in the mini-importation business profitably even with the high exchange rates though for a full look into how to soar and flourish at this period, I will advise that you check out my course known as The Mini-Importation Blueprint Course (www.importationblueprint.com/blueprint_course)

1). Make sure that you do a thorough research on products that are high selling in the market at the moment.

I have always stated it that going into the importation business without making the proper research is a total risk that NO one should ever endeavor to make. If there was ever a time to be rigid with research making, then that time is now. Due to the fact that most importers are backing off at the moment, what you are to do is look for products that are making waves in the market and nobody is really pushing or products that people are really in need of but nobody is paying attention to.

2). Make sure that whatever products you will be importing at this period are very very light in weight.

This is just so that you will not have to crucify yourself when paying for shipping fees, it is no secret that shipping companies charge by the weight of the product to be shipped, so importing products that are heavy might be suicidal at this point.

3). Make sure that they are very cheap.

With the high exchange rate, it is no question that the higher the price of the products that you are to import the higher you pay. So keep the cash draining from your pockets/wallet or bank account (whichever the case may be) to a minimum. Make sure that the price of the product is very low.

4). Make sure that you do not make payment for any order with your credit card until you have ascertained that the bank you will be using has less and favorable exchange rate charges.

I have earlier stated the importance of making research, one of those is what type of bank to use in making payments at the moment. You will have to make sure that the bank which you be using has a very low exchange rate at the moment. A very good one to use at the moment is stanbic bank, all you need to do is simply open an account with them and that is all.

5). Make sure that you bargain to the point the seller will almost be forced to chase you.

This is pretty self-explanatory but then I need to clarify that at this period you need to up your bargaining skills, you need to learn how to push the sellers hand to your will, you need to know how to get them on your side. You can go to HERE to learn sure guaranteed ways to bargain with sellers.

And that will be all, do you have any questions? Please feel free to go ahead and ask.

Closing Thoughts:
What you have right there is some of the priceless information that many importers are keeping to their selves for obvious reasons which is to reap all the gains from the business at a time everyone is backing out, I will advise that you put it to good use. For more held back secrets about how to profitably engage in the importation business, you should check out my course at www.importationblueprint.com/blueprint_course .
It is quite possible that you have more questions about this that has not been answered, please do leave it as comment on this post .

With this current exchange rate? chinnie0327@gmail.com
You can still engage in the importation business profitably even with the exchange rate,
Here are some tips to help you through
1) Make sure that check up with your bank before making payments, use only banks with low exchange rate. Stanbic is a very good option
2) Make sure to only import products that are very light in weight and are also hot in the market as this will help reduce your shipping cost
3) Import products that are very cheap and not expensive as doing otherwise will drastically drain you.
4) Except you need to get your products urgently, i will advice that you stay clear of express shipping and stick to normal shipping for now.

Hi, I started doing mini importation business last year, I mostly bought things from aliexpress. Now the dollar is taking a huge toll on business, I have not made any purchase recently because I am afraid I may not make as much profit. Does anyone know where I can get things from very cheap , mostly fashion items and how to bypass this current exchange rate to pay for the goods. thank you.
This is the probably the most frequent question people ask about the Importation business at this moment but then the truth is that there is no reason why you should let the high dollar rate turn you off, in fact if for anything it should be a motivation to you. Do not be someone who considers every situation as a problem but one who sees an opportunity in every situation.
So let me put through how to get through this tough time
1) Make sure that check up with your bank before making payments, use only banks with low exchange rate.

This are among the very great strategies you can use in engaging in the importation business profitably even in this period of high dollar rates.

Sorry i pissed you off but then if you know anything about ordering things from E-commerce stores especially when it come to importation, then you would realize that it is clearly wrong for anyone to make an order without checking with the seller first. There are cases where a seller runs out on the products to render and i probably bringing it soon but it just has not arrived yet, that does not mean they have to close down every ad or listings that they have online which will be equivalent to closing down shop because they do not have the products on ground.
So it is expected of you t check with the seller before going ahead to make any transaction for some reasons.
1. To verify the seller
2. To know if they have the products on hand
3. To know if they can meet with the exact product specification that you want
4. To know exactly how long it will take for them to send down the product
among many other reasons.....

While i will say sorry, that you were cheated by the bank, i will say that it is your fault. You were supposed to chat with the seller before even going on to make the order in the first place. This are little mistakes that people make that put them in a delicate situation.

Business12 Questions Frequently Asked In The Importation Business by maybrowne(op):
Good day colleague,

I know this is coming in late but still I want to wish you happy New Year. Last year I did engage in lot of things and while some failed, I did excel at most of them. Last year was a mixture of greatness and letdown considering the fact that towards the end of last I had the greatest failure/ setback I have ever had in business, while it was really devastating and I can say I am still feeling the thorns; I am indeed getting over it but then more than anything.

What gave the biggest satisfaction was that in spite of my own personal hitches, I was always finding myself stretching my neck out to help my students, Facebook group members and subscribers in any way I can, trust me there is a great feeling in knowing that you are adding value to the lives of others (many of which I might not even meet). With this I want to enjoy you that no matter how successful you are in your business or whatever field that you are, please do ensure that you are breeding others as well.

Now last year, in the course of my relationship with many people they were so many questions that were asked from
My Facebook group members (http://www./miniimportationmarketingforum)
My subscribers (http://www.importationblueprint.com)
My students (http://www.importationblueprint.com/blueprint_course)
And of course my loyal blog readers (http://blog.importationblueprint.com)

I got a lot of questions from them all that I cannot even remember all but then I have decided to create a post to address the most common questions I am asked

1. Is the mini importation business really profitable and hope it is not scam?

You see many are still yet pessimistic when it comes to e-importation because they don’t believe in the first place that anything online is legitimate (and while they are wrong, many if not most of the online business opportunities are indeed scam) and secondly because they are scared of taking the huge risk of ordering for a product, paying for the product and someway/somehow they end up not getting their product.

To be sincere, there are lots of stories of people who have been scammed doing this business while trying to buy one thing or another online but then this are mostly people who didn't look before they leap and ignored all traffic signs, people who didn't take the right and proper precautions before going ahead to order the products.

First let me clear all doubts in your mind about E-Importation.

Basic fact is that E-Importation (mini-importation) in its very core is very much genuine as there are lots of people taping from the wealth opportunity that lies therein. Also is the probably now exposed secret that even most of the physical stores we see around us order their products at very cheap price from most of this stores and sell it of for exorbitant prices here in Nigeria.

Download this free report that shows you the step by step process of engaging in the importation business. (http://importationblueprint.com/)

2. Do I need to pay custom duties on every goods or products that I import?

No, you do not. Except for bulky products like cars, bikes, goods in heavy containers, most of the products or goods that you import into the country will be labeled under "gift" label and, as such, are duty free.

Read this post on how to escape paying custom duties.(http://blog.importationblueprint.com/2015/09/how-to-escape-from-the-hammer-of-customs.html)

3. What is the time frame that I can expect to receive the ordered products?

The time frame that the products that you order take to get to you depends on some factors,
1. The packaging period of the seller: This is the period it takes the seller to package your products before shipping put. This is can simply described as how long it takes for the seller to ship out your product.
2. The shipping company that you choose to use: The type of shipping company that you chose to use while to a very large extent determines the amount of time that your products will take to reach you. If you use companies like China post mail or Singapore post mail, you will pay far less than you will pay to any other shipping company (in fact in most cases, you are likely to ship with them without paying a penny.) but then you should expect to receive your products within 2 – 5 weeks and in some cases it can even go on for more.

While if you use third party courier companies like DHL, FedEx, UPS among many others you can anticipate receiving you’re ordered products within 4-8 days though this option will cost you.

4. Where do the products come from?

The products can be sourced from any part for the world but then majority of the come from the US, UK and China with China being the major market to import from.

While most people get cold feet when they hear about china made products most commonly referred to as “chinko product” in Nigeria, the real truth is that china actually manufactures most of the best quality products that you find around, Many of the products from top brands like Samsung, Apple, HP, Adidas among many others, so I think this will assure that you are going to be getting products that are high in quality even if there are from china, the reason why most of the china products in Nigeria market are sub-standard is because that is what Nigeria most distributor demand from the manufacturers.

The reason why china is the home for almost manufactures is because cost of manufacturing in china is cheaper thereby, you can be sure of getting quality products from china for very cheap.

5. What import portals are 100% genuine and legitimate that I can source from?

There are lot of import portals that you can source from but then let me just a few.

www.aliexpress.com
www.alibaba.com
www.amazon.com
www.ebay.com

You can read this post to discover the top ten import portals to source your products from. (http://blog.importationblueprint.com/2015/09/top-10-import-portals-to-source-from.html)

6. How Can I Identify Genuine Sellers Online?

Identifying a genuine supplier from a fake one requires a stretch from you, you have to be ready to do make some researches and take some steps in order to prevent yourself from being scammed by fake suppliers. Look into the background of every supplier you will be dealing with.

7. Should I Get a Buyer Ready before Importing the Goods or Do I import first and Start looking For Buyers?

This depends on how you will like to play and it also depends in the type of product that you are importing, it is all fine whichever way you go about it. Now while it is not entirely necessary that you have ready buyers before importing, it is very much necessary in fact compulsory that you are sure that there is a willing market for the product, I:e make sure that there are people who are indeed willing to spend on the product you are importing.

8. Which Hot Selling Products Can i Import and Make Good Profits?

I cannot begin to list products that I believe are hot selling because what works for me might not work for you, also what is hot selling now might not be so in the next one month. The best way to locate and know products that are hot selling is to look around you, research, find a need and fill it.

The best way to make success in business is to see a problem and bring about the solution. For example, if work in a bank or a corporate organization and you notice that they is a huge demand for gadgets, suits, wristwatches and others, you can simply go on and import it and deliver it to those who are demand of it. Please do not be limited by your community alone, I only used that as reference.

Click here to read post that shows how to know products to source for. (http://blog.importationblueprint.com/2015/06/factors-to-consider-when-choosing-type.html)

9. How Do I Get High Quality Products Online?

You need to understand that while there are many types of products out there, there are products that are actually genuine products and then at there are products at that are total clone of the original products, if you are not careful and vigilant, you will be scammed and get a clone which will damage your business

10. The Shipping Cost is Too expensive For Me, what can i do?

Shipping with companies like DHL, FedEx, UPS and many other big names in the courier companies is most likely to wreck you especially if you are a small importer. So you will need to work with local shipping companies that can ship your products for cheap prices.

Read this post that shows you how to ship your products faster and for cheaper rates. (http://blog.importationblueprint.com/2015/07/how-to-get-your-goods-to-nigeria-at.html)

11. How do you make payment for products that you order?
There are various medium of making payments in the importation business.

You can read this blog post that shows you how to make payment in the importation business.(http://blog.importationblueprint.com/2015/10/different-mediums-of-making-payments.html)

12. What are the things I need to successfully import products online?

You need to get some few things in order for you to be able to engage in the importation business and this are the things you need to get for a start.

1) A device with internet connection.
This does not necessarily need to be a computer or a laptop, you can use a tablet device, an android phone, blackberry smart phone, an I-Pad/I-Phone, just make it is a smart device with an internet connection.

2) A medium of making payment online
You need to have a medium of payment either it is with your credit card, PayPal, Alipay, Bank Transfer among many other mediums.

3) A valid/traceable home address
You need a valid and traceable address where your products will be delivered to.

4) A valid email address
You need a valid and working email address for the e-stores to commune with you everything that has with your order and any other important things that you might need to be aware of.
You can get a free e-mail from Gmail, yahoo mail and Hotmail.

5) Startup Capital
I really don’t think I need to explain this but then I think I need to point out that you do not need to have a huge sum of money before you can engage in the mini importation business.

6) A quality guide on how to engage in the business.
You will need a full guide on how to successfully engage in the importation business, a great one is the Mini-Importation Blueprint which is a step by step guide on how to start a successful importation business.

BusinessThe Most Common Scams On Alibaba And How To Escape Them by maybrowne(op): 1:33pm On Nov 09, 2015
Good day cousin,
I really can not count how many times people have reported to me that they have been scammed on Alibaba, some have gone on to claim that alibaba is scam. Now while i will like to make it totally clear that Alibaba it self is in no way scam, there are indeed elements of scam of the platform and if one is not to vigilant. You will scammed right before you very eyes.

So here we will be looking at the common types of scam that occurs on alibaba and how to escape them.

1. Ordering FAKE branded goods!
Clearly with no question the most common type of scam that people fall into on alibaba, it is done so discreetly that it is not very easy to uncover especially if you are not so acquainted with the real / original brand.

What occurs in this scam system is that either the seller sells out products which are just look-alikes of the real branded products (i:e there are just copies made to look exactly like that of the original and are therefore lower in quality than the original) or the worst case scenario is that the supplier does not even deliver anything at all.

Now when I say branded products, I mean products from popular western brands like Nike, Adidas, Apple, Samsung, Shure, Sony, Pioneer, Gucci among many others.

How to escape this scam
The best way to avoid this type of scam is to simply avoid ordering for branded products from chinese suppliers and stores as a whole. In truth most of these branded products are actually manufactured in china but then it eventually turns out that they are even more expensive in china than in abroad; you can click here to can read this post to understand why it is so.

Exception to the rule:
The only exception is when you are actually sourcing for a chinese brand, that is a brand that it’s products are fully produced, manufactured and distributed in china, only then can you go ahead to source for this products from Alibaba or other chinese stores.
Still yet make sure that you are careful and very vigilant, that it is a Chinese brand does not mean that scammers cannot take advantage and make look-alikes of the products. In this case do your due research to make sure that you are dealing with an authenticated dealer.

2. Supplier with product variety
You need to understand that basically suppliers on Alibaba are expected to either to be manufacturers or genuine wholesalers; anything short of this is more likely scam.

Now if you ever encounter a supplier that has a store and deals in various merchandise, then that is clear sign that you have definitely encountered a scammer. That is you find a supplier that is dealing in various products say something like phones, handbags, shoes, TVs and various other products.

The supplier might even go ahead and list branded products like IPhones, Nike foot wears , Samsung TV, Macbooks among others most times the products will be listed at prices that are just too good to be true, the truth is they are not real just you know that you are dealing with a scammer,.

This is because a genuine wholesaler will stick to one specific range of product type, i:e a genuine wholesaler dealing in foot wears will have various ranges of foot wears but will not also deal in IPhones.

How to escape this scam
So a simply way to avoid this scam is to avoid the supplier by all means and not engage in any sort of deal with them in whatsoever way

Exception to the rule
There is no exception to this rule, simply stay off any of such supplier.

3. Suppliers with unverified Alibaba profile
Chinese scammers wanting to make a quick gain from unsuspecting buyers will create a free Alibaba account sometimes using the details of a legitimate US/UK/EU based company or even China Company and pretend to be the legit company in order to sell branded products.

Since these free accounts are not verified, that is a clear sign that you are not dealing with the authentic company, an authentic company will make sure that they painstakingly verify their account on Alibaba.

How to escape this scam
The best way to avoid falling prey to this type of scam is to make sure that you never deal with an unverified supplier. A safe way to escape this is to make sure that you are only dealing with Gold suppliers as this are sellers that has been duly verified by Alibaba, I personally will advise that you look out for Gold suppliers that are 3 years and above.

Now the fact that you are dealing with gold suppliers does not necessarily mean that you are totally free from scam at one point or the other there have been cases whereby gold suppliers have collected money from buyers and yet did not send the required product or did not send any product at all.

That is to say that while gold suppliers still remain the safest circle of suppliers on Alibaba to source from, they are not all saints.

Exception to the rule
There is no exception to this rule, simply stay off any of supplier that is not verified, only deal with gold suppliers and make sure that you do you research properly.

4. Sending Money To The Boss Account
What happens in this scam system is that when it is time to pay, for some reason the supplier will send a message that they are having issues with their bank account and can therefore not take payment at the period. They will then go on to request that you send the payment to a personal account which they can most times claim belong to the boss.

When you send money to such an account, you are tied as you have almost no control over what happens with your money.

How to escape this scam
The best way to avoid falling prey to this scam is to simply avoid paying into any personal account for any reason, while it might indeed happen with a legitimate supplier, still do not indulge in it because it might just be an employee of the company trying to play a fast one on you.

Even if you are going to be paying into a company’s account make sure that the account name carries the company name. In a case that the supplier’s company is an affiliate of another company, it is possible that it will not carry the suppliers company name but the parent company name. I.E if the supplier company is XYZ and it is listed under ABC, then the account must carry either ABC or XYZ

Exception to the rule
There is no exception to this rule, simply stay away from paying into a personal account for any reason, even if you are presented this option by a legitimate company strictly turn it down because the possibility of being scammed is far more higher than that of it being real.

5. Not dealing in free samples
Requesting for a sample is what should be paramount when dealing with a new supplier on Alibaba, since Alibaba unlike aliexpress deals basically with large and bulky orders, you want to test beforehand if the supplier meets your requirement in terms of quality, customer service among others, generally it is for you to be comfortably sure that the supplier is capable of delivering the exact product that you want.

The way this scam system works out is that when you want to order from a supplier they will say that they do no deal in samples but bulky products and they will now begin to tell you some cock and bull stories which will make you to see them as being genuine and will compel you to the point where you actually go on to order from them, only for you to discover after you have made the order that you are not getting anything and you have been scammed.

How to escape this scam
So if for any reason a supplier refuses to send a sample product to you with the claims that they only deal with bulk products and do not engage in samples, then something fishy is up.

The best way to avoid falling prey is to stay away from any supplier that is not ready to offer samples, this is because a legitimate supplier will have no problems with giving samples. If it is a very cheap product, it is possible that the supplier will not charge for the product at all or will decide that you are to pay for the product but the charge will be deducted from your total order when you finally make a bulk order.

In the case of an expensive product, you will be asked to pay for both the product and the shipping fee, so whatever the case may be a supplier should be willing to give samples.

Exception to the rule
There is no exception to this as well, just make sure that you do not make an order from any supplier that does not offer to give samples before a bulky order but yet still never put so much faith on every supplier that is ready to give sample as being scam free because it is not uncommon to find scammers who will go the extra length to give very good samples only to abscond when you make a bulky order.

6. Payment by western union only
The way this scam system works is that when it is time to make payment, you will be asked to pay through western union, now this is a huge No No as there is no security with western union. So when things like this come up, this is a sign that shady is taking place.

How to escape this scam
Simply stay of any supplier that asks you to make payment through WU because in doing such, you are send the money to an individual and a corporate organization/company and like we have talked about in rule 4 sending money to an individual account is a no no.

When dealing with suppliers on Alibaba, the ideal payments systems that you should be looking at using are
Alibaba Escrow
PayPal
Bank Transfer/ Wire Transfer (To a company account and not a personal account)

Exception to the rule
The only time when you can actually use western union to pay a supplier is when you are making payments for samples, this you should only do when you have looked and done your research and they seem to be totally legitimate. The reason why some will go for western union is that it is quite cheaper and faster that bank transfer, but then more than the cost or speed, we are also concerned the security right?

Closing Thoughts:
There you have it, the common type of scam on alibaba and how to escape them. You need to be very vigilant when sourcing from Alibaba and follow the steps. You also have to make a very serious and concrete research on any supplier that you will be using
