The number 1 key to changing your life as a struggling man is to always live below your means. Don’t listen to friends or family jargons, try as much as possible to live far below your means.
Let your expenses be very low compared to your earnings.
Don’t live in any house that will give you headache when it is time to pay rent and light bills. Any expenses that gives you headache, please don’t spend on it.

You will start realizing that you are beginning to have savings. And that feelings of money on your account no matter how small is JOY and peace of mind
When the Joy comes, you won’t like to loose it so without even noticing, you will begin the to save more. This is the first step to financial freedom and peace of mind.

Have a 5 years plan for the savings. The kind of business you want to start or the investment you want to do and how much you need to start it. Write it clearly in a book and look at it everyday till it stick in your brain.

Work, work and work towards it. Don’t loose focus, don’t let anybody pressure you for unnecessary spending not even your family.

Men, there is no joy in being broke. Fight poverty with everything you have and don’t do fraud. There is not peace in fraud

Very good topic , Lagos comes with a lot of expenses but it always favour business people than salary earners .
I left Ibadan to start my business in Lagos at 2019 and it's 4 years already but i can never archive what I have in Ibadan if have not make that decision.

I never rented house at mainland ,lekki or expensive area just to make things easier and have my business not far from where I stay.
I only have one boy so I won't be spending much but I have 4 boys now .
So Lagos is the best to grow u just have to plan urself well .

I love this thread op. It shows you must've done some critical thinking to arrive at this topic. During my service year I was posted to Lagos after camp I tried looking for a decent accommodation, the keyword being "decent". The least I saw was 700k with subsequent payments of 500k annually, and this was just a single room self contain. I sat down thought about my plans for my future and how much I would get monthly " 33k". The daredevil in me wanted to take the risk but I thought about how I could practically finish the service year saving nothing and had to work my relocation to Benin city. That was the best decision I took as I was able to purchase a piece of land for myself in my village SAPELE. I already started livestock rearing and will gamble more on my land in terms of agriculture until I am ready to settle down. Truth is most knuckleheads in lagos who refuse to think will end up going back to their various villages to retire in old age filled with regrets of the risk they didn't take earlier.

The best physical business you can start is any business where ladies are your customers.
Start selling hair, cream, soap and ladies cloths and you will make millions within a short time.

This advice is not for ladies, I am advicing men only. Especially if you are a handsome guy or you have good dress sense.

I have come to realize that ladies like competition and will always like to impress and outshine their mates.

This goes to my other point about when you insinuated 500k could afford you a better than decent/average life in Lagos. I respectfully disagree. This is not to knock those earning 200/300 or 400k or even minimum wage but there is a fundamental problem when people can’t find dignity in labor or enjoy the good things in life and you just exist. Working everyday till old age and retire barely enough to feed then fade. That’s not living, it’s existing. Lagos is really expensive and it keeps increasing. Working in vi and not being able to afford a decent family house before iyana ipaja or after Abraham Adesanya is not gainful employment. Keyword being gainful employment which is what is lacking in most jobs in naija …

I’ll stop here for now (we have not even talked about the main pull for most people that leave which is The sanity and basic amenities that improve quality of life) there is also the benefits of not traveling which has very strong arguments under certain conditions . lagos is large - very large with lots of persons and lots of situations.

it is not everyone in lagos that gets stucked in traffic daily.
there are people here that don't earn up to half of the amount you mentioned yet they live comfortable with their families.

every case no be the same.

Please explain how someone earning 200,000 monthly in Lagos will comfortably pay for good accommodation that is close to area of work to avoid traffic, pay for good private school education for 3 children, light bill and feeding the family and Still save money to build a house or future Investment.

If you are not making atleast 500,000 monthly in Lagos, then you are wasting yourself in Lagos and you are just living to work, eat and die. What a sad life.

The goal is to live a good life, good standard life for yourself and family. You cannot achieve that in Lagos with a minimum of 500,000 monthly considering the high cost of rent in good area.

The average Lagosian is living a miserable life with hours in traffic daily shuttling the Island and iyana ipaja or Berger or ikotun. God did not make us to come and suffer like that.

If you do not see a bright future in Lagos, please save money and be very stingy for atleast 2 - 5 years. Save all the money you can and don’t even think of getting married yet. After you have gathered reasonable amount. Please run away without looking back. Start a big business in another location where quality housing is affordable, transportation is not stressful and killing your health. You can live a happy, peaceful and good life outside Lagos. You can be visiting Lagos and Abuja for fun and flex. Think people !!

Your article would have made some sense but you're looking at things from a tribalistic angle and that just messes up things.

Did APC deceive Yorubas by presenting Tinubu? Are you s stranger in Jerusalem? Are you not aware of the Emi Lo Kan speech that clinched Tinubu the win? Blame Buhari for being a weakling for not standing behind Osinbanjo who had been loyal to him for over 7 years despite PMBs poor performance?

Why will the APC faithful come out and support Tinubu? Then again, how did you come to the conclusion they aren't even supporting him at all? Amaechi contested and lost to Tinubu. Osinbanjo might be seething that Tinubu denied him the seat which he felt was his right. Had Osinbanjo won the primaries, it would have been a blow to Peter Obi as it would divide Obi's votes. Even many enlightened Ibo voters would have voted for Osinbanjo.

Fashola and Tinubu aren't chummy. They have a frosty relationship. Fashola even had the audacity to push forward a candidate for the Lagos gubernatorial primaries in 2015! Truth be told, many in APC detest Tinubu's godfatherism and power mad style of leadership.

Atiku showed this same cockiness during the 2011 presidential primaries in which he lost to Jonathan. With the North in his grip, Atiku feels the election is his. The North vote fanatically, the Southwest is average and the South east is low. This must be where his confidence lies.

There is not one united North. Shettima is complaining that the Hausa's and Fulani aren't that keen on him because he is a Kanuri.

If the North was so united, why hasn't Kwankwaso stepped down for Atiku? He might eventually step down but would he want to support Atiku? The Northern votes are insufficient to secure Atiku victory. Northern votes can provide huge numbers but is not a watertight guarantee for victory. Kwankwaso might prefer someone who has lots of votes from other areas of the country. Getting that 25% votes in 24 states no be beans.

There is a lot of subtle tribalism in your article that influences your message.

I don't see Atiku winning much in Yobe or Bornu where Shettima is from and where the army under APC have largely contained the Islamic militants. Even in 2019, Atiku lost to Buhari in Adamawa.

So let me start with a story
Once there was a kingdom in ancient Nigeria with a very intelligent king. The people of the kingdom were really happy with their lives. They loved their king and worshipped him like a god. The king too, was very focused on the welfare of the kingdom and his citizens. He took each and every decision keeping in mind the welfare of his citizens. Art and culture flourished in his reign.

Everyone was happy, but something really unfortunate happened then. There broke out a riot between two groups in the kingdom, it started with a few people and then spread across the town and then to neighbouring towns and in a matter of time many parts of the kingdom were seen blazing in fire. Many innocent people lost their lives for no reason, a huge amount of public and private property was damaged.

After the riots cooled down and stopped every innocent citizen wanted justice and looked upon their king to deliver him. The king was in a fix on how to accuse someone, there was no face to a crowd he couldnot simply punish anyone as that would be unfair and immoral. So he decided to punish the people who were responsible for it.

The next day the chief leader, the chief of security and the chief film maker in the kingdom were summoned to the court of justice. The king ordered 50 whips on the body of the minister as a punishment because he failed in maintaining non partisanship. He ordered 100 whips on the body of because he failed to maintain harmony in the society during the riots. But to the astonishment of everyone the king order the highest punishment of 500 whips to the film maker. Shocked with the judgement the film maker asked the king about the reason of his punishment to which the king replied that he was the reason to shape the opinion of the crowd which started the riots in the first place. The king mentioned that a kingdom with an intelligent film maker cannot have such kind of outbursts of citizens and that is the reason the film maker was considered the real culprit.

I hope by this short story you would have clearly understood the role of films and the film makers in our society and how important it is to have intelligent films and film makers in the society
