Fishyvibes:I graduated as a biochemist (with a good 2.1 grade) in 2010 (futo) and currently an M.Sc student of Medical biochemistry at unizik. Fellow Eminents/Metabolites/Biochemists, getting a job as a Biochemist is tough you know why? Medical lab scientists won't give you the license to practice, in Food industry, Food Science and Technologists have patent rights, of course you know that studying pharmacology/toxicology wouldn't make you a Pharmacist. Biochemistry offers you bragging rights for the knowledge you possess in explaining life's processes but as a means of livelihood, we are subdued by patent rights of other fields of study. However, a biochemist can become a biochemistry lecturer, he can go into serious researches (who would sponsor him in Nigeria?) To elucidate how to correct metabolic errors and anomalies. I once did a research on the effects of crude oil spillage on the lipid profile of man using wistar rats. I found out that it reduces the triacylglycerides of the body hence reduces weight and the body's body mass index. It is also deadly because it results to lipid peroxidation. The question is then, how would such researches put food on the table? I once presented a seminar on the effects of benzopyrenes (do you eat suya so much?) On living tissues. Causes mutation in Guanine at position 3 of the DNA same as aflatoxins. It is a carcinogen. But if you are addicted to suya, make sure you are also addicted to eating antioxidants like fruits and of course, plenty potable water (check my signature) My humble suggestions to all students of biochemistry: 1. Study to show yourself approved; scale the hurdle with very good grades 2. Make yourself sellable so as to compete favorably with the microbiologists, food technologists, molecular biologists, pathologists, toxicologists, pharmacologists etc in any opportunity 3. Be self-reliant, learn a trade or handwork so you can put food on the table. 4. Go for your M.Sc, then Ph.D so as to lecture a whole new set of students who find themselves in biochemistry because they couldn't be admitted to read medicine. 5. Finally, encourage your children to go for professional courses like medicine or pharmacy and encourage them to wait til the next year to try again if jamb doesn't favour them. The idea of "switching over to medicine after a year or two" is usually a mirage. God bless you all, Eminents! |

God will not do for man, what man should do for himself. Same way, man cannot do for God what He should do for HimsElf. Let's try to look at it from two scenerios: 1. Assuming Boko haraM burns the Pastor's church and all his objects of worship because the Islamists believe that the Pastor is an infidel simply because he doesn't practice Islam, how would the pastor interprete it? For christsake every man is entitled to his own opinion and religious affliation. Jesus sent his disciples to preach and told them to dust Þheir slippers off if any home refused to accept the Word not to burn down their beliefs. Therefore by inference, we can say that anybody or organisation that burns down other people's places of worship is religiously intolerant. Can this pastor dare go burn a mosque? He has seen people who are not violent and he is lording his beliefs over them. *sighs* 2. If he was sent by God to go destroy that artefact, (I don't know if it is a place of worship), then, my views aforementioned are of no consequence because I believe in the Supremacy of God the creator. The earth of the Lord and its fullness thereof so man has no say in this case. But I remember that Joshua said it "...choose ye this day who you would serve..." And MAtt. 7:1 says "Judge not so that you won't be judged..." So, its left for everybody to form his own view and opinion. However as a christian, I know that God abhors idol worship! *(whispers), sometimes I ask myself : what if I was born a muslim, or atheisT, would I have believed if a christian (supposedly, an infidel) comes to tell me about Christ and God - the way he understands Him? |

Pope Francis: God Has Instructed Me
to Revise the Ten Commandments
GUAYAQUIL, Ec. – Pope Francis kicked off the
start of a three-nation trip across South
America today with his first mass, with over a
million Ecuadorians in attendance, in the
coastal city of Guayaquil. Delivering the mass
in Spanish, the Pope spoke about the
importance of family in modern society,
saying, “It needs to be helped and
strengthened, lest we lose our proper sense of
the services which society as a whole
provides.”
During his sermon, Pope Francis announced to
Christians around the world that God had
called upon him, instructing him “to revise the
most sacred of texts, the Ten
Commandments.” Given to the Israelites by
God himself at Mount Sinai, the
Commandments include instructions for
worship and list several prohibited practices.
Pope Francis said Christians around the world
are “faced with ever-increasing temptations
brought on by the evils of modern society.”
The Pope said the updated Commandments
reflect the changing times and include some
minor rewording of the existing rules as well
as the addition of two new Commandments.
The Fourth Commandment, which advocates
that proper respect be shown towards one’s
parents, has been reworded in order to include
children raised by same-sex parents. Pope
Francis said the Seventh Commandment,
prohibiting adultery and, among other things,
homosexuality, has been removed entirely, as
instructed by God, in order to extend “God’s
grace to all His children.”
Addressing the inclusion of the new
Commandments, which bring the total number
to eleven, Pope Francis praised the rapid
growth of technology in the digital age but
said “progress comes at a price.” The new
Fifth Commandment, which replaces the
prohibition of adultery, forbids all aspects of
genetic engineering and bans the consumption
of genetically modified foods.
Lastly, the Eleventh Commandment disallows
personal idolization and the glorification of
one’s self over God. Using the Kardashians, a
highly publicized celebrity family, as an
example, Pope Francis said, “Selfies are an
abomination in the eyes of our Lord.”
A spokesman for the Vatican, Father Federico
Lombardi, said the Eleven Commandments are
currently being etched into marble by an
Italian sculptor and, upon completion, will be
unveiled to the world in Saint Peter’s Square
following an internationally televised mass. |

Well don't blame them my dear. You understand it because according to you, you are a chemist. Everybody isn't a chemist. There must be certain terminologies you use that do not really fit into the description way away from your field. So, correct as many people as you can and overlook the others. Thank you |
What if Juventus wins? It'd be exciting. |
