I am so grateful op for this great piece. I have always wanted to start something of my own but my biggest problem is having an idea that is unique. So far from your post I have learnt I need to start reading and looking for problems to solve within my environment.
Are you a programmer? If you are, I have tons of ideas we can work on together. I have made inquiry about them and I could assure you the market will accept them. They are simple but nobody is on it yet in Nigeria, at least from my research. My only hindrance has being finding a technical partner that will write the codes. This is even the major reason why I'm looking out for job in any start up firm. Wants to learn, contribute and earn so that I can save up for future product. That said, if you are a programmer, please oyediranmayowa2@gmail.com. thanks

More Setbacks, some positives, looking for staff

The last few weeks has brought with it more twists. In January we started with a team of 3 and an office in Nigeria. As of today we have a team of zero and no office. Basically the team has been shut down thanks to all the disappointment by people. We've also lost quite a bit of cash in the process. I don't understand people. They say things are difficult in Nigeria but yet when they get a golden opportunity they sabotage it. How is it that i'm hungrier for success despite the comfort and success I've already attained while people who haven't gained any success really can't dedicate themselves to providing results.

We have unfortunately incentivized the wrong kind of behaviors in our country. As such people don't know how and don't want to work. This is a disaster trip we're on if we continue like this.

Anyway, the strange thing in all of this is i'm even more excited and determined to become a success. My skin is fully in the game, i've lost personal cash so i'm going all in. Perhaps my determination comes from my strong belief in the need for and potential of what i'm doing. Over the last few weeks, we've seen users grow by an average of over 100% week on week. Also have a few things in the works to improve user acquisition, retention and engagement.

We will likely be recruiting over the next few months so if you know anyone in Lagos or Abuja who is enterprising, self starting and loves learning, send them my way.
I am one sir. I have always desire to work with a start up because I dream of starting up mine in the nearest future. I have ideas that also needs urgent attention but I'm scared of starting up another one without learning the rudiments and essentials of a start up. I have founded a small start up before and it failed just after launch. I lost money in a tragic manner, that was when I learnt about "don't run out of fund" statement. I have learnt my lessons and I can channel my energy to help your start up succeed. I always like to be part of founders success story.

Hope to hear from you sir.

I attended a conference and a TEAM from Spotify told everyone how expensive it cost to build and all the work they put into it for a long period of time.

The expense of developing an application like spotify costs $9000- $1500 approximately. But the particular cost of any app is depends on the various factors like the features you want in that app, the complexity of app, the platform you pick for that app, map in the app, etc. Unless you want to do a spotify clone app
Thanks

Before developing any kind of app or software you would first need a plan as in essence what you are building is a new business.

So, I would assume you have that part covered and just want consultations on the development part of it.

The first step in building a kind of enterprise app like uber or spotify is UI and UX design.

This is important as your app will be used by thousands of people, your Ui design needs to be clean and easy to use.

Focus also needs to be given to the UX design as the success of the app will be largely depended on its usage the user experience needs to world class in order to encourage users to keep coming back.

It is recommend that UI and UX work be done by a good designer in Adobe XD or similar UI design software.

After the designs must have been completed and approved, the next step involves transforming the designs to usable frontend components. This involves exporting the design assets and coding up the frontend part of the app.

This will he done in whatever framework you decide to use to build your app. (I recommend and use ionic).

After the frontend components are completed and you basically have a kinda usable prototype of the app, then comes the backend development.

There are lots of options available to choose from with the rise if MBAAS in recent time but I would recommend you build out your backend yourself.

The backend development involves implementing all the business logic of the app and also building all necessary APIs to be used.

I recommend and use laravel and lumen for all backend services and hosting on a cloud server.(digital ocean is recommended).

After the backend is developed and everything wired together, your app should be ready for launch.

Also note that within the first 3 months, lots of changes might be needed as you begin getting feedback from your users and discovering what works, what features they like and want etc.

Development time could stretch from between 40days to 90days though more detailed development schedule would be developed when a detail project requirements is presented.

As a UI, UX and full stack web and mobile developer I can handle this project for you and would charge 200k for the completed design and development.

If you want a more detailed proposal and project requirements and specifications document, you can reach me on WhatsApp- https:///2349054832238.

Thanks
Whao! This is so detailed. Thanks a lot. But my concern is, why do we have so much difference in what companies charge for this kind of service, even in Nigeria. This same app that you can develop for 200k, someone said it will cost 500k, another said not less than 1m, another, 1.5m. please what's your take on this. Is it because I'm a novice, I mean I don't write codes.

Please house, I need sincere and professional analysis on this. I have an idea to have an app that allows music streaming, a close example to that is Spotify, although there is a difference.

I also want to generally know the cost to build an Uber standard app by a Nigerian developer. I discovered that Uber like business could also function properly in unpopular cities too. Less atrocities will be committed in smaller cities.

I will be glad to hear from professional developers or programmers. Please don't ask me to send you email o. Drop your opinion hear.

Thanks.

Someone once said, as a non techy co founder who has the intellectual property, you must bring two other things to the table to be able to function well, these are business knowledge and financial support. I think you should state what you are bringing to the table clearly for them to know sir.
Real developers who are good at what they do are very busy and occupied, if they will join a start-up that has no traction yet then they have to be double sure about what they are getting themselves into. My token though

I was just thinking we could likened Nairaland with a country on its own with many states. If this is a large community present in many states and cities of this country, I thing we can have a physical meeting and not only meet online. I reside in ogbomoso, Oyo state and I am sure many addicted nairaland members just like me also reside here, hence, the possibility of having a physical meeting and taking time out to have fun once in a while. We have built the online presence, why not the physical presence too?

So to this end, I have created a whatapp group where w e can meet as Ogbomoso Nairalanders. So, to join the group, simply drop your whatapp number here or better still, send "Ogbomoso Nairalanders, add me" to the number in my signature.

Let's come together and build a physical youth community that will be fun, who knows, you might meet your soulmate, helpmate or that connection you crave for. Join us today.

NOTE: whatapp can only accommodate 250 people per group. Join us ASAP. kiss kiss kiss

Good say good people.

I am Mayowa serving my fatherland in Niger state. I have always believed in entrepreneurship and I am trying to set myself up for at least what could offer me food and shelter after NYSC. So, for this reason, i had an idea i was nursing in my mind since i was in school, i felt it was time to get it started when i resume fully for the commencement of the service year in January. I didn't have enough money to start the business, so i had to borrow from ETC loan (for those of you that know). www.afridel.com. I borrowed 85 thousand naira to design the website stated earlier and i also gather my two months alawi to promote the project. Someone also borrowed 40k on my behalf with the promise that i will pay him with the interest after the success of the business just to complete the website development program.

To cut the long story short, the business did not work out as planned, I am owning ETC and they are seriously after me, they promised to seize my certificate and even hand me over to the police. I am most even concerned about the person who borrowed on my behalf that i promised to pay back his own part earlier so that he is not going to have any issue.

Right now i need nothing less that 50 thousand plus the remains of my alawi for the rest of my service year

Please note that i am real and not fake, i can give all document to prove that to anyone who kindly wants to help. I am doing this because i just don't know what else to do to raise 50k. I was only trying to help myself out so i don't suffer after service but i have not even finished service and i have entered into a deep mess.

Please i need your support people, no amount is too small to help me. I know this is shameful because people that know me are on this platform but i think its better doing this than going into crime. Once again, please, i seriously need help. mayowa oyediran Gtbank 0108296757
