CelebritiesMichael Jackson; A Gifted Singer And Performer, But Troubled Soul by mayorking(op): 6:23am On Jun 27, 2009
The news of the sudden death of pop icon and superstar, Michael Jackson filled the airwaves. Everybody has something to say about Wacko Jacko as he is called. Michael Jackson was said to have collapsed in his Los Angelis house at about 12.30pm Los Angelis time and his death was confirmed at about 2.25pm L.A time. The immediate cause of death was cardiac arrest, but there were reports of the fact that ha has been having problems with prescription drugs for a long time. Michael seems to be not only a bundle of talents, from his weird but creative lyrics to his dancing steps and choreography including the moon walking, but he was also an embodiment of emotional problems and psychiatric manifestations.

But first let talk about his talent, music, lyrics and dances and the impact they have on many of us. Like Larry King said in his interview on CNN, while it is true that he had a troubled life full of scandals and wrong choices, it is also true that he was talented beyond measures. What is sure is that he gave us his talent, let us celebrate that.Read on here
PoliticsRe: Adeboye Wins Living Legend Polls by mayorking(m): 9:51pm On Jun 21, 2009
I have read some of the posts in this thread and I think a lot of people are just ignorant and lack depth. While I did not vote on that poll, I believe that some of the things said here are just a reflection of people who don't do anything to affect their society but like to rubbish what others have done. Newsweek voted Pst Adeboye as one of the 50 most influential men in he world! Yet some people on this thread claim that it is just RCCG members that voted for him to win. If we even assume that they really voted for him, it only shows that the members are ready to perform simply basic civic responsibilities rather than just sitting in front of the computer or the media and criticizing.

I agree that Nigeria is really a religious society that largely lack righteousness, but that does not take away the fact that some men have given themselves to the service of God and are affecting humanity. Do you have to make noise about what you are doing before we know that you are affecting humanity? I am not really surprised at some people's reasoning anyway as the thinking of the people of this world is corrupted. Someone says that Pst Adeboye should have disqualified himself from the poll. The question is why should he do that? Is he not a Nigerian? Did he have to contest for anything of such? Some people nominated him and so let it be. People voted him and so let it be.

Some talked about brainwashing. I am amused! So when somebody have been able to influence people by his teaching and humility you call it brainwashing. If I must tell you, the act of influencing people and making them loyal to you is the sign of greatness. After all, the man is not the only Pst in the country, so if he is the only pst to win is telling us a lot. And to set the record straight, the man did not start RCCG, he became the General Overseer after the demise of the General Superintendent, Baba Akindayomi.

Anyway, Jesus says a servant cannot be greater than his master. When he was on the earth, they said he had a devil, so if they call his servant on earth now names is not surprising. They are only following the script that is written for them by their own master!

By the way, all the people who are on that list deserve it in their own way. We must realise that greatness or legendry is not limited to only one particular area of human endeavour. Some want to question Ojukwu's inclusion. Well, while I am not an Ibo man, I believe that if Nigeria have honoured the Aburi declaration we will not be where we are today. There would have been a  true Republic where the centre is been feed by the regions with healthy competition in the regions as we had before Kaduna Ezeogwu and his cohort struck. So Ojukwu is a legend for daring to make sure that was the case.

CrimeRape By Cia Officer In Algiers by mayorking(op): 12:44am On Jan 30, 2009
I have been reading some materials on forensic Psychiatry in recent times. It is widely reported that crime and violent behaviour is not more in psychiatric patients than in the normal population.
I know that a lot of people will dispute that but it is supported by research!

So I was not surprised a few minutes ago when I saw on Associated Press video on Yahoo about the case of a CIA chief in Algeria( a muslim convert himself) who was alleged to have raped two muslim women at separate times. The report even had it that videos of him having sex with many women at different time were recovered in his apartment. He was reported to have used some drugs on the women whom he picked up at the bar in the American Embassy. One onders how a highly discilplined and thorough Agency ould not have discovered this man in their routine review and screening of officers. Read more here
PoliticsPoor Judgement; Babangida's Theory On Guinea by mayorking(op): 12:59am On Jan 17, 2009
I love psychiatry and it shows. It gives me a wider way of viewing things as against the parochial ways that I see people view things around me.That is what happened to me about 30minutes ago when on reaching home from church I browsed through a copy of this day magazine on Sunday that I bought on my way home.My usual practice is to browse the paper and then settle to read the whole paper through. However I had to immediately read a piece that is titled "IBB's Theory on Guinea".Continue Here.

EducationRe: Introducing : Success University In Nigeria by mayorking(m): 3:54pm On Nov 29, 2008
I really don't know why people ar enot responing to the call. But if anyone wants to know more about it they just need to google the words success university and see for themselves what and who is involved.
However what I discover is that Nigerians are so full of aparty and skeptism that they find it difficult to accept any thing out of the ordinary or what they are used to.They prefer to work for a stipence from 8-5pm as they have been taught in school than try the unusual.Trully, poverty is in the mind and giving $1million dollars to the poor in mindset will still produce a worse poverty for him.The rich in mind however can go bankrupt now ,but will build a greater wealth.
I rest my case.

PAWON!! GBOSA!!
PAWON!! GBOSA!!
RECOGNITION! O DA MO NIYEN!!

I dont know where to start.Ife evokes in me a lot of emotions because it gave me THE GOOD,THE BAD AND THE UGLY in experiences. With a '93 admission which started in '94 and did not effectively get off the ground until '95 and then graduating in November 2002 and then having the Certificate awarded by Senate in 2003!I spent a good part of my life in Ife!One of the lowest points of my stay in Ife of course was when I lost my classmate Eviano to cult attack! I grew from a boy to a man in Ife.
Part 1 was in J5 in Angola,Part 2&3 was in PG hall,Part 4 was in Faj hall and 5&6 was in town!Of course you already knew the number of years that took me.
I was in fellowship(Deeper Life, old campus and RCF),in student union goverment i.e SRB and in IFUMSA endeing up as Chairman(speaker).
I knew Tony Fash,Obesere, and the likes.I saw a lot of Alutas, went days without proper baths in the days of water scarcity, witnessed a lot of congresses shuting down school, ate in old buka, forks and fingers, pharmacy and new Buka!
The list is endless. When I left Ife I left with mixed emotions. When I last went to Ife to get my Certificate it was with mixed emotions and whenever I talk or think of I fe it was with mixed emotions.Love for a good academic culture, admiration for a great campus and sadness and anger for long stay in school.
GREATEST IFE.

Holidays and Cash leaders buy NEW cars with cash rewards

Emmanuel and Ijeoma Chuckwu in Nigeria share how they are purchasing a NEW Jeep four wheel drive next week paid in cash with their Rewards earned from Holidays and Cash. They have demonstrated that through consistent hard work and leadership members can earn life changing rewards.

Sipho Njiva in South Africa has also paid cash for a new car from their Rewards after having his previous car hijacked earlier this year. Sipho was responsible for the successful launch of Holidays and Cash in South Africa.

I received this as part of my update mail from Holidays and cash.I dont believe in too much talk.

HealthRe: Schzophrenia Does It Kill? by mayorking(m): 1:51am On Oct 02, 2008
ecomog08,
It is really good to see that you are seeking the necessary information needed for your medical condition.
Well, to answer your question directly, schizophrenia does not kill directly.
However, because of the nature of the illness it affects the individuals thinking process and understanding expecially if the person is not on medications. Many people with schizophrenia sometimes dont believe there is anything wrong with them and as such they dont comply with their medication. Some also stop the medication when they think that they are okay.As such they are prone to relapses which makes the condition gets worse.
I will do a series on schizophrenia on my blog very soon bacause of this question.
Watch out!
BusinessRe: Nospetco And Others by mayorking(m): 6:24am On Sep 22, 2008
What can we say?Nospetco in particular has been doing well and meeting their investors expectations before a couple of wonder banks flooded the market in the name of trading in forex nd promising ridiculous returns on investment!
Well,if the regulators have used their big stick, they should see it through and make sure that investors get their money back.At any rate, you wonder sometimes who the regulators are?Afterall Nigerian economy is this bad in the midst of plenty because of the leaders who have not been able to do anything but enrich themselves. The same are the regulator trying ti fix things? What is going to be the outcome?
