Health / Ogun Assembly Passes Bill To Provide Emergency Treatment For Accident Victims by Mayour11(m): 6:33am On May 10, 2017
The Ogun House of Assembly on Tuesday,
passed a Bill that will ensure provision of
emergency medical treatment for accident
victims within the state, if signed into law
by the executive.

The Bill is entitled: “A Bill for a law to
provide for Emergency Treatment of Road
Accident Victims.”

It also provides for the ”establishment of the
Ogun State Trust Fund for victims of road
accident and for other related matters”.
The bill also seeks to provide immediate
attention and first aid to road accident
victims in all registered private and public
hospitals within the state.

The bill also states that private and public
hospitals shall provide immediate treatment
to accident victims brought to them for the
first 72 hours without any demand for fees
or any other form of emoluments among
others.

The bill further states that the aim of
establishing the trust fund was to acquire
and deploy medical equipment, vehicles,
ambulances and other resources required to
achieve its objectives.

The Majority Leader of the House,Mr
Adeyinka Mafe (APC-Sagamu 1), moved the
motion for the third reading of the bill and
seconded by the Minority Leader, Mr
Olawale Alausa (PDP – Ijebu Ode).

If signed into law by the governor, the state
will establish domiciliary fund accruing from
the sale of road accidents victims’ emblems,
voluntary subscriptions, and contributions
from the Ogun Government.

It will also accept donations from interested
government agencies.

We comnenced our 2nd Annual state Conference of the Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN ) Ogun state chapter on Wednesday 22nd and as it used to be, we had our Olympiad competition that Same day. But the funniest part of it was that when they were announcing the results, the Ambassador schools, Ota alone took first, second and third in a particular category, apart from that they were second and third in another category. Those people are bad when it comes to mathematics. It seems it's more of an annual thing for them now

Oo no, not again!!

The funniest part of it is that for them to declare that we'll be experiencing the fuel scarcity till the end of May simply means we should be expecting normal fuel supply in July or possibly August...

Infact, this people are in government to disgrace themselves.

Nairaland / General / Fuel Scarcity Will Persist Till May – Kachikwu by Mayour11(m): 6:51pm On Mar 23, 2016
By Levinus Nwabughiogu
ABUJA – At a time when Nigerians were expecting respite from the pangs of the lingering fuel scarcity in the country, the Minister of State for Petroleum, Mr. Ibe Kachikwu has apparently dashed their hopes, stating that the current queues at gas stations would persist till late May.
The minister who doubles as the Group Managing Director, GMD of the Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation, NNPC added that he was not a magician to make the queues disappear overnight.
According to him, it was even a “magic” that the stations were still getting volume of products they dispense to the public, judging from the prevailing circumstances at NNPC.
The Minister also revealed NNPC’s import rates have moved form 50 percent to all- time 100 percent, saying that the 445 barrels allocated to crude swap now service 50 to 55 percent importation of refined product.
But giving a glimpse of hope on how to achieve lasting solution to the product scarcity, Kachikwu stated that government was working to beef up the reserves.
He stated that the when the refineries come on full stream, locally refined products would be left unsold in the reservoir to boost supply and availability of the products.
The minister was fielding questions with the State House Correspondents after leading officials of Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas (NUPENG) and Petroleum and Natural Gas‎ Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) to a meeting with president Mohammadu Buhari at the presidential villa, Abuja on Wednesday on when the queues at the gas stations would disappear.
He said: “One of the trainings I did not receive is that of a magician but I am working very hard to ensure some of these issues go away‎. And let’s be honest, for the five, six months we have been here, NNPC has moved from a 50 percent importer of products to basically a 100 percent importer. And the 445 barrels that were allocated was to cover between 50 and 55 percent importation.
“So, it is quite frankly sheer magic that we even have the amount of products at the stations. We are looking to see how to get foreign exchange imput. The president and I discussed extensively on how to get more crude directed at importation. His excellency will rather have less crude but have individuals in the society suffer less with inconveniences than have more crude and have them continue to suffer.

Politics / The Recurrent Boko-haram And Its Adverse Effect On Nigerians; Lesson For The Gov by Mayour11(m): 7:22am On Mar 09, 2016
THE RECURRENT BOKO-HARAM, ITS ADVERSE EFFECT ON NIGERIANS, AND A LESSON FOR THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT - Mayour11

Even in the face of the current economic woes, Nigerians are delighted. Not because of the abundance of food on their tables nor the availability of other basic necessities, but because of the war against terrorism which the current APC-led administration is gradually winning. To some extent, we can now sleep with our two (2) eyes closed as the threat of terrorist attacks has reduced drastically in the nation (for over a month the attacks of the deadly sect has always been successfully repelled, kudos to our gallant soldiers.)

However, the boko haram that has been claiming lives in this nation for over 40 years is still on the rampage, the unknown sect that has been causing havoc especially in the north-eastern part of the nation has clearly made us forget the known one that has been with us for decades and thereby left unabated. Each successive government has tried to be shush about plans of curbing the menace and also adopting protective measures to their advantage and leaving the poor masses to battle with the terrorists daily.

The cheapest, most common and widely used means of transportation in this nation is by road.

However, the Nigerian roads are more of a death trap to the nation, most of the roads are in extremely bad conditions. They have successfully outwitted boko haram and have been able to comfortably occupy the position of taking lives of Nigerians without measure, unfortunately there're no soldiers to deploy against this ones as all they need is the government's attention. Despite the fact that it has bring succour to the Nigerian populace by replacing the old style of transportation (trekking), it has not gotten the necessary attention of the government, and has therefore garner recognition for itself by exonerating venom on its plyers. Recently, a minister of the Federal Republic lost his life, his wife and his son on one of the death traps we have in the nation, apart from this, we also record cases of accidents daily on this our roads across the nation. Innocent lives are burnt to death, sustained life injuries, and encountered various fatality rates on the roads.

The government has policies that restricts just anyone from carrying out maintenance works on the roads without getting necessary approval, thereby making it virtually impossible for regular maintenance of that very essential facility since the government feels unconcerned about the daily plight of the people.

Today, if you're travelling or you have a relation(s) on the road. You automatically become a prayer warrior casting, clearing and binding all evil forces away from the roads and praying for journey mercies.

But shall we continue like this?!
There's this yoruba adage that I don't really know its meaning but it goes thus "iku t'on pa ojugba eni, owe nla l'on pa funni" it literally means that when people around your age are dying, one has to be careful about it, or else the worst may happen to you as well.

At this level, there's the need for all of us to unequivocally reach out to the Nigerian government so as to quickly salvage the menace of bad road network in this country, Nigerians are dying, I won't say the worst may happen because at one time or the other, almost all Nigerians regardless of their socio-economic or political status will have to ply the roads. Hence, everyone (including the president) is at risk. We need change, we cannot afford to continue dying...

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!
