Taal17: That's why I said you can still keep it as self employed if you want to stay consistent. About his annual income and other stuff it's really up to you. If you can wait for another 6montha so his inflows show his business pays him a salary then that would be okay. You can mention he has a business in the additional info section. Activate the CAC. Then state you his son is paying for the trip so no need to add his corporate account. Please what are the documents to submit when I want to reapply so that I don't overcomplicate it? |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by mayowa94: 8:11am On Aug 18, 2025 |
Taal17: Just use only his personal acvount, rewmove his business account. Ypu are sponosring so ypur personal account is fine. But your your personal account should jave more than enough to show you can sponosr his trip.
The. Form should also indicate your Dad is not paying for this trips expenses. Expenses is air ticket, a stipend for commuting and food. Then accommodation would depend on whwre he is staying.
Form should say he is retired. or even self employed though his business account isnt necessary to add since he's not paying for the trip.
If he's traveling with your mum then that section about who is accompanying can be include her.
The last part of the form where it says any additional information vou can use to address or include information. Especially if it is to take a trip with your mum.
I wouldn't rush to reapply unless they want to travel together soon.
Those are my thoughts Hope changing from self-employed to retired won't raise further issue? Also, should I address the reasons stated in the decision letter in cover letter when reapplying? |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by mayowa94: 10:49pm On Aug 17, 2025 |
Taal17: Then that's a different context , you should have mentioned that.
Who's personal account did you use? Yours or his. The refusal see details are directed to you Dad and what was submitted.
Since you're sponsoring the form has to reflect that your dad is not sponsoring. So what part are you sponsoring? Ticket accommodation expenses? is your Dad working, does he have an account ? Who has the annual income of 5million?
It's possible that you have filled the form in such a way that it looked like the bank statements incl corporate accounts are your Dad's not yours. I am sponsoring everything and I submitted my bank account. He is retired but he has a business. He has an average income of 5 million that the business can generate but it is not constant. I submitted his business account and not personal account think the business will help the application. Also, that was why I choose self-employed. How can I rectify this please 🙏 Note: my mum was issued visa but he was refused. |

Taal17: Based on what you shared there is no misrepresentation by the VO. You submitted bank accounts whatever you submit must back up your details on the form
Your business us separate from you. That should reflect in your bank accounts
Get taxes done for your business
Your annual income is what you pay yourself from your business yearly. So pay yourself salary monthly because your business employs YOU.
How long should you wait? 6months minimum
Lastly what you intend to spend on this vacation should be a reasonable reflection of your savings. So you cant put an amount for your trip that is for example 4months of your salary This visa is for my father and I am the one sponsoring the whole visa. |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by mayowa94: 8:28am On Aug 17, 2025 |
jmoore: 1. Never use your personal business account for business transactions.
I submitted a business account and it was mistaken for personal account that is definitely an error from the VO.
2. As a business owner, you should be paying yourself. So the only money that should come from your business into your personal account is the salary you paid to yourself.
3. Activate your CAC. I will work on it. How soon can I reapply if I write a cover letter explaining the misrepresentation from the VO part and I have activated my CAC status? |

The decision I have refused your application for a visit visa because I am not satisfied that you meet the requirements of paragraph(s) V4.2 – V4.6 of Appendix V: Immigration Rules for visitors for the reasons stated below. • You state that you intend to visit the UK for a period of 14 Days for the purpose of tourism and visiting your relatives in the UK. • You state that you are self-employed with an annual income of 5,000,000.00 NGN (£2,404.43, at an exchange rate of £1 = 2079.49 NGN as seen on oanda on 15/08/2025) and you have provided your personal savings bank statement (account ending in 7826) to demonstrate your financial circumstances. Whilst I acknowledge your supporting information, I note that the credits and balances in your personal account are not consistent with, and in fact exceed, your declared annual income. From our calculations, you have received more than your annual income in credits to this bank account in the month of May alone. As the total lodgement/credits figures are not in line with your stated annual income this consequently damages the credibility of your declared financial circumstances. Therefore, I am not satisfied you have given an accurate reflection of your current employment/financial circumstances. • You have provided your personal and corporate bank statements to demonstrate your financial circumstances. I note that your personal bank account is being used for business purposes. As this savings statement also represents funds used for the activities and running of your business, and you have not demonstrated that these funds are available to support anything else, this documentation, in isolation, does not demonstrate your personal financial situation. Given this, I am therefore led to doubt your reason for travel is as stated as I am not satisfied you have given an accurate reflection of your current financial circumstances in your country of residence. • Furthermore, you state you are self-employed and to demonstrate your circumstances, I note that you have provided a certificate of registration for the company. Whilst I acknowledge the documentation you have provided, the source of the funds in your personal account, as well as your self-employment circumstances, have been cast into doubt, given that Corporate Affairs Commission determined the status of your company to be ‘inactive’. I am therefore not satisfied that your employment and financial circumstances are as you have stated, which leads me to doubt your intentions of visiting the UK at this time. • These factors only serve to undermine the credibility of your application and raise concerns about your intentions to travel to the UK, as well as your incentives of returning to your country of residence. As such I am not satisfied that, if granted leave to enter as a visitor, you will comply with all the conditions attached to any such leave or that you will leave the UK on completion of the proposed visit.
Please which actions should I take to correct this and how soon can I reapply? The account submitted was a business account. |

Taal17: That's a pretty broad question especially if you don't say what state you are going to. In fact the City is most important.
Minimum wage varies per state however living costs is what's important. So research with your City and find out what minimum wage is and average living costs.
About skilled or unskilled work that requires few weeks training. You need to know what jobs are in demand in your City. Your City might need you getting a car so sorting out driving and purchasing a cheap car might be more important.
I applied for jobs with what I already had. Use online resources to style your resume to what works for the US. Lots of tips on LinkedIn and YouTube on applying for work.
My first gig was with a contracting agency so find contract agencies that cover your state and apply to their jobs. They usually have short term contracts and get you the work experience you need to understand the US work market. Make sure you have your original certs with you in case jobs request evaluation Thank you. The state is Georgia. |

RalphJean: You mean your mother inlaw is planning to get a UK visitor visa to visit you. On your side, if you are writing a letter in support of her application, you need to be clear which support you are going to render. This may include air fares, local transport, Accomodation, visa application costs, feeding etc. Your wife should not forget to submit documents which clearly establishes their relationship. A birth certificate should suffice.
On her (applicant’s) side, she needs to prove a strong ties to home country. The onus is o her to prove that she isn’t just wanting to japa, but that she only wishes to visit and will return. She could prove ties to home by: Evidence of full employment (it’s great she is actively working on Govt as a teacher). When my MiL was coming a couple of years ago, we got the Head master of the primary school she was teaching at to write a letter of introduction. We even got the local government education secretary to write too. We submitted her letter of 1st appointment, a couple of promotion letters and most importantly, her last appointment. We printed her 1 year bank statement, which had a closing balance of 8,00 naira. We highlighted every single salary transaction on the statement. That means every single salary credit into her account was highlighted. The aim was so that the ECO can cross reference and prove that yes, she is in active employment as a primary school school teacher.
In our letter of introduction and support, we made it very clear that the whole visit was at zero cost to her. We proved that by showing our own bank statements - showing enough money. In our introduction letter, we made rough cost estimates: Air flight, train from airport to house, visa costs, transport cost for visa biometrics extra. Our letter had a near-real cost estimates, and our bank account statement showed we had enough to cater for that.
Very importantly, we needed to prove our own legal residency status- we used our BRP for that.
Mama got 6 months on that occasion.
I will wait for others to share their expert. Thank you |
