Why didn't they open the gates when they saw the crowd was growing? My daughter returned from St Michael's school in Akure recently without her sandals because she survived a near stampede. Some students didn't allow the school gate opened after closing and it took the intervention of the principal to open the gate. As the crowd surged, it took God's mercy that some of them didn't fall down to be stepped upon. Whenever you realize the crowd is growing the gates should be opened immediately.
