Amidst all the opportunities​ open for Nigerians, the Graduate Entrepreneurship Fund (GEF) programme is a special scheme to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among serving members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). The scheme provides loans of up to N2.0 million at 0% interest rate to support enterprises and potentially viable business ideas.


This novel scheme, which is a joint initiative of the Bank of Industry (BOI) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has the following objectives:

Encourage graduates of tertiary institutions currently undergoing the compulsory one-year NYSC programme, to venture into business and become employers of labour rather than job seekers.

Address the entrepreneurship capacity gap of the NYSC members who are expected to produce bankable business plans after the three-day capacity building programme.

Deepen financial inclusion by de-risking the NYSC members and making them eligible for concessional loans ranging between N500,000 and N2 million to be provided by BOI.

Ensure sustainability of the businesses of the eventual loan beneficiaries through effective monitoring by the NYSC Directorate and BOI.

The GEF programme comprises the following :

1. Online Business Plan Competition to select the most promising real sector business ideas. The Lagos State Scholarship Board, LSSB, as the agency in charge of scholarship, bursary and other related matters within the state, grants scholarship awards to deserving indigenes in various tertiary institutions for full time studies in order to assist these students financially.

Application is now open for the 2016 Lagos State Undergraduate Scholarship Award for students in tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Lagos State Scholarship Award for Lagos State Indigenes
The Lagos State Scholarship Board is applicable for Lagos State indigenes and administers both Local and Foreign Awards. So far, we have observed consistency in their applications. Applications is done through scholastica.
The Local Scholarship is for prospective students of Lagos State origin except otherwise directed by the State Governor. It has the Local Undergraduate Scheme and the Local Postgraduate Scheme. Students must be on full-time studies in Nigerian institutions.
=> The Foreign Scholarship is for students of Lagos State origin admitted into undergraduate or postgraduate programmes in recognized institutions outside Nigeria .
Foreign Government Scholarships
Monash Scholarship for international students: Monash University, Australia offers up to 31 full scholarships to international students undertaking Undergraduate or Postgraduate (coursework) degree at the University.As a scholarship recipient, you will receive $10,000 per annum for the duration of your degree.
Korean Government Scholarships
The Korean Government scholarship was enacted to provide international students from various countries including Nigeria with opportunities to conduct advanced studies in undergraduate & graduate programs at higher educational institutions in the Republic of Korea in order to promote international exchanges in education and mutual friendship between countries. From the information we gathered, the competition is somehow tight as 170 persons are selected for the undergraduate course and 700 persons for the graduate course.

US Government Global Exchange Program (Global UGRAD)

The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) provides a diverse group of emerging leaders with a scholarship for one semester of non-degree academic study at a U.S. college or university.Application Deadline: 31st December, 2017
Hungarian Government Scholarships
The Hungarian Government offers this Scholarship Programme for international students as an opportunity to undergo study of all types in Hungary for free. The scholarship award will cover: application and tuition fees throughout the study period with basic books and notes;dormitory accommodation;subsistence costs;health care.
Indian Government Scholarships
At the inaugural plenary of the India – Africa Forum Summit held in New Delhi in April 2008, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India announced the Government of India’s initiative to enhance the academic opportunities for students of African countries in India by increasing the number of scholarships for them to pursue under-graduate, post-graduate and higher courses. Since then, the Government of India through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations offers the Africa Scholarship Scheme for undergraduate, postgraduate and further higher studies. Selected candidates would be provided with return economy class air fares, living allowance, contingent grant, house rent allowance, thesis expenses and medical benefits.
Mexican Government Scholarships

(a). Oil Company Scholarships

PTDF Scholarships Programme for Nigerians
The pdtf scholarship for undergraduates as at 2017 was the most lucrative of all, you will receive a laptop, school fees payment directly to your school plus an annual bursary of NGN471,000. The scholarship is for 200L students. However, the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources offers the "PTDF Scholarship Scheme" to suitably qualified Nigerian Undergraduates, Masters and PhD students. Scholarships are awarded for studies in the UK and France, and at upgraded Universities in Nigeria. Undergraduate awards are now only for studies in Nigeria, and in approved subject areas. The NNPC/Chevron National University Scholarship is for Nigerian students in their second year of full-time study in approved courses in a recognized Nigerian Universities. Scholarships cover the entire program. Please note that applicants to other Chevron scholarships, including the Agbami scholarship program, are ineligible. b). Agbami Undergraduate Scholarships
Star Deep Water Petroleum Limited offers the Agbami Medical and Engineering Professionals Undergraduate Scholarships (also, Agbami Special Medical and Engineering Scholarship) for undergraduate Nigerian students in medicine and approved health and engineering courses across ALL states of the Federation currently in their first or second year of study. Awardees receive full funding for their studies of NGN100,ooo. A lot if people are usally awarded for this scholarship, So endeavour to apply once application begins. Note you can not apply for the two scholarship program at once.
(a). Shell/SPDC/JV Nigeria University Scholarship Programme
The Shell Petroleum Development Company(SPDC) of Nigeria Limited Scholarship Scheme offers first year and second year students in all Nigerian universities the opportunity to study with an annual grant from the SPDC Joint Venture for the full duration of their course. This programme aims to promote academic excellence and improve skills-base among young Nigerians. The usually pay NGN275,000 initial payment and NGN75,000 subsequently. However we have received unconfimed reports that it has been increased to NGN100,000
(b). Shell Secondary School Scholarship Scheme
The Shell Nigeria Secondary School Scholarship Scheme is for host communities in Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Imo and Rivers states. The Secondary School Scholarship Scheme is to help students pay through school, as well as enhance academic achievement in host communities.
Agip Oil Company Undergraduate Scholarships
The Nigerian Agip Oil Company Limited offers "Tertiary Institutions Scholarship Awards Scheme" to FULL TIME Year 1 undergraduate Nigerians in Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria. The awards are of 2 categories - the Host Communities Merit Award and the National Merit Award.
Mobil Nigeria Undergraduate National Scholarship Programme
Mobil Producing Nigeria awards annual scholarships to qualified undergraduate students in Nigerian Universities. Qualified and suitable students are those currently admitted in Nigerian Universities irrespective of state of origin including the FCT. Applicants must be in their 1st or 2nd year of study of approved courses.
Nigeria LNG Scholarship Scheme
The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited offers the "Nigeria LNG Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme" to all Nigerian undergraduates in tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The award is the payment of a yearly allowance to successful beneficiaries. For some time now the scholarship has been having lapses, but the application occured this year 2017 for only year one students. They pay NGN300,000.
Total Nigeria National Merit Scholarship Programme
Total Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited offers its annual "National Merit Scholarship Award" (or Nigeria Tertiary Institutions Scholarships)" to deserving Nigerian students in secondary and tertiary institutions as well as those in postgraduate studies. The scholarship is worth NGN 150,OOO annually.
Addax/NNPC National Tertiary Institutions Merit Scholarship Programme
Addax Petroleum Development Limited offers the "National Tertiary Institutions Scholarship Awards Scheme" to qualified candidates of Nigerian origin. Applicants must be full time 100 level undergraduate students in any Nigerian University, Polytechnic or College of Education, and all courses offered at Nigerian tertiary institutions are eligible.

(b). Non-Oil Company and Organizational Scholarships for Nigerians

NWAG Nigeria Scholarships for Female Nigerians
Every year, the Nigerian Women Association of Georgia offers 37 one-time undergraduate scholarships in the amount of fifty thousand Naira each on any course of study, to female Nigerian undergraduate students (one per state of origin) in Nigerian universities. Application deadline is usually in May .
MTN Foundation Science and Technology Scholarship
The MTN Foundation Science and Technology Scholarships is for full time undergraduate students of Nigerian origin in various fields of studies tenable at Nigerian tertiary institutions (accredited public universities, polytechnics and colleges of education). Awards cover tuition, book allowances and stipend for one academic year. As at 2017, the scholarship was for 200L AND 300l Students of which some were asked to write an essay via email.
