Amidst all the opportunities open for Nigerians, the Graduate Entrepreneurship Fund (GEF) programme is a special scheme to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among serving members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). The scheme provides loans of up to N2.0 million at 0% interest rate to support enterprises and potentially viable business ideas. This novel scheme, which is a joint initiative of the Bank of Industry (BOI) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has the following objectives: Encourage graduates of tertiary institutions currently undergoing the compulsory one-year NYSC programme, to venture into business and become employers of labour rather than job seekers. Address the entrepreneurship capacity gap of the NYSC members who are expected to produce bankable business plans after the three-day capacity building programme. Deepen financial inclusion by de-risking the NYSC members and making them eligible for concessional loans ranging between N500,000 and N2 million to be provided by BOI. Ensure sustainability of the businesses of the eventual loan beneficiaries through effective monitoring by the NYSC Directorate and BOI. The GEF programme comprises the following : 1. Indian Government Scholarships At the inaugural plenary of the India – Africa Forum Summit held in New Delhi in April 2008, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India announced the Government of India’s initiative to enhance the academic opportunities for students of African countries in India by increasing the number of scholarships for them to pursue under-graduate, post-graduate and higher courses. Since then, the Government of India through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations offers the Africa Scholarship Scheme for undergraduate, postgraduate and further higher studies. Oil Company Scholarships PTDF Scholarships Programme for Nigerians The pdtf scholarship for undergraduates as at 2017 was the most lucrative of all, you will receive a laptop, school fees payment directly to your school plus an annual bursary of NGN471,000. The scholarship is for 200L students. However, the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources offers the "PTDF Scholarship Scheme" to suitably qualified Nigerian Undergraduates, Masters and PhD students. Scholarships are awarded for studies in the UK and France, and at upgraded Universities in Nigeria. Undergraduate awards are now only for studies in Nigeria, and in approved subject areas. Deadline is usually February. a). Chevron/NNPC National University Scholarship The NNPC/Chevron National University Scholarship is for Nigerian students in their second year of full-time study in approved courses in a recognized Nigerian Universities.
