SportsReport: Real Madrid To Be Without Cristiano Ronaldo For Another Month by Mcfeddy(op): 5:21pm On Nov 05, 2009
If 'CR9' is forced to go under the knife, he could be sidelined for up to three months

Any lingering hopes that Cristiano Ronaldo could make a swift comeback from injury have been dashed with the news that he faces at least another month on the sidelines.

Marca report that the Real Madrid star entered a hospital in Amsterdam by the back door at 14:55 CET and underwent a series of scans under the supervision of ankle expert Dr. Niek van Dijk.

Few details have been made available so far, but the key news is that the 24-year-old will be out for around a month if all goes well in his recovery programme.

Real Madrid released a statement on Wednesday evening, stating that, "there has been no clinical improvement of the bone edema". If the problem persists, Ronaldo could be forced to have surgery.

Manuel Pellegrini will be desperately hoping that this eventuality doesn't occur, as 'CR9' would then be out until well into the new year. Marca believe that Ronaldo would need another two or three months to fully recover from any operation.

CelebritiesRe: People: Do U Think Rihanna Did The Right Thing For Going back To Chris Brown ? by Mcfeddy(op): 3:04pm On Nov 05, 2009
Rihanna said that she feels "embarrassed" for returning to ex-boyfriend Chris Brown after he beat her in April and warned other women struggling with domestic violence to not let themselves be blinded by love.

"It's completely normal to go back. You start lying to yourself," the 21-year-old singer said on "Good Morning America" in her first public comments following the beating. "I'll say that to any young girl who is going through domestic violence: 'Don't react off of love.'"

Brown, 20, was arrested Feb. 8, hours after he was accused of beating Rihanna after the couple attended a pre-Grammy Awards party. He later pleaded guilty to felony assault and a judge ordered Brown and Rihanna to stay away from each other.

In the interview, Rihanna said she was ashamed to return to Brown after the attack. "That's embarrassing — that's the type of person I fell in love with. So far in love, so unconditional, that I went back," she said. "That's not what I want to teach people."

The attack occurred in Los Angeles' Hancock Park neighborhood as Brown drove a rented sports car. A Los Angeles police detective described a brutal attack in a search warrant affidavit filed in the case, stating Brown hit, choked and bit Rihanna and tried at one point to push her from the car. A photo of her bruised face was circulated on the Internet.

Rihanna said she soon realized that, as a role model to young women, her returning to Brown sent the wrong message. "When I realized that my selfish decision for love could result in some young girl getting killed, I could not be easy with that part. I could not be held responsible for telling them, 'Go back.'"

Brown's career suffered after his arrest, with sponsors dropping him and radio stations refusing to play his music. Both he and Rihanna had to cancel several high-profile appearances, including planned performances at the Grammy Awards the day of the attack.

Brown has apologized to fans and has said he has repeatedly apologized to Rihanna for the attack.

In the interview, she said: "I am strong. This happened to me. I didn't cause this. I didn't do it. This can happen to me and it can happen to anybody."

ABC will air more chunks of the interview on "Good Morning America" and on the news magazine "20/20."

Rihanna's interview coincides with the debut of her new single, "Russian Roulette," from her upcoming album, "Rated R." It's her first CD since 2007's multiplatinum "Good Girl Gone Bad

PoliticsKidnappers Free Soludo's Father by Mcfeddy(op): 1:22pm On Nov 05, 2009
Kidnappers have released the 78-year-old father of ex-Central Bank of Nigeria governor Charles Soludo 10 days after he was seized from his home, police said Thursday.

"Mr. Simeon Soludo was dropped on a road near his village last night," Anambra State police spokesman Emeka Chukwuemeka told AFP.

Chukwuemeka said Soludo, who was abducted by gunmen who invaded his compound in Isuofia on October 27, was released "unhurt".

Police could not immediately say if a ransom had been paid before he was freed by the kidnappers who had demanded 500 million naira (3.3 million dollars, 2.2 million euros) from the family.

Family sources blamed political opponents of Charles Soludo, the former CBN chief for the kidnapping.

Soludo, who left office in June, was last month controversially nominated candidate for the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) for upcoming state governorship elections. Aggrieved aspirants are contesting the nomination in the courts.

In 2006, unknown gunmen shot the father in the eye when his son was in the final stages of implementing sweeping reforms of Nigeria's troubled banking sector.

Kidnapping for ransom, which occurs frequently in Nigeria's southern oil hub, has recently spread across the vast west African country.

Most hostages are released unharmed after a few days or weeks, often when a ransom is paid, yet in some cases victims are killed.

In the first six months of this year, more than 500 people were abducted across the country, with 10 of them killed, according to the Police Affairs Minister Yakubu Lame

SportsEaglets' Captain Banks On Nigerians' Support by Mcfeddy(op): 1:41pm On Nov 04, 2009
As team gets Cadbury's $6,500 prize
WITH his eyes firm on retaining the FIFA U-17 World Cup trophy, which the country won in South Korea in 2007, Golden Eaglets' captain, Fortune Chukwudi, has called on his compatriots to come out en masse to support Nigeria against New Zealand in their second round clash.

The Golden Eaglets will meet New Zealand at the National Stadium, Abuja, tomorrow with a view to getting a quarter-final ticket. Speaking in Abuja yesterday, Chukwudi said the team needed the backing of Nigerians at this time, adding that he was looking forward to a stadium filled with cheering Nigerian supporters.

"We thank Nigerians for the support we have received from them so far, and we want them to continue to support us in a big way until we win the trophy," he said. "There are so many good people in this country and we love them all. We are not bothered about the insignificant few who only want to destroy."

Chukwudi and company have scored six goals and conceded four in the tournament so far, but this is the knockout stage and they must take their chances like never before. He admitted this, saying: "Yes, we know there is never a second chance in the knockout stage. We are prepared for battle and the prayers of Nigerians will see us through."

Chukwudi and his deputy will receive the cash prize of $6,250 from Cadbury Nigeria Plc for their 25 shots on target in the first round of the tourney. The presentation will be made at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, with top Cadbury officials in attendance.

Meanwhile, the Eaglets trained at the Aguiyi Ironsi Barracks yesterday evening, as they did on Monday, and will use the mainbowl of the Abuja National Stadium today, being 24 hours before the clash with the boys from Down Under. None of the players is injured as coach John Obuh and his technical team plan their assault on New Zealand.

Chieftains of the Abuja Sub-seat of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), led by Taiwo Ogunjobi, are already making concrete plans to see that the National Stadium is filled to capacity for tomorrow's match.

Victory over New Zealand will take Nigeria to the quarter-finals for a date at the U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar, with the winner of the tie between Mexico and Korea Republic.
CelebritiesNick & Mariah’s Marriage In Trouble by Mcfeddy(op): 12:21pm On Nov 04, 2009
NA WAOH !!! I WISH THEM WELL SHA,

I’m hearing that Nick and Mariah are having trouble in their marriage due to Mariah not being able to get pregnant.

According to bossip.com, their sources are saying that Mariah drinks heavily sometimes out of frustration of not being able to conceive a child yet, and Nick is the clean up man for all her drunken mess:

The source says that Nick has always been supportive of Mariah but her excessive partying and drinking has taken a toll on their fresh relationship. Nick is said to blame Mariah’s up and down weight on her partying.

The source reveals that although the two are still very much in love, little kinks like this in the beginning will start to tear the two apart. So in other words, our source is saying Mariah better shape up or ship out. But we all know who really wears the pants, so Mr.Carey just better get used to things the way they are.

RomanceFresh! Dating: Why Don’t You Call Me? by Mcfeddy(op): 11:18am On Nov 04, 2009
women, we can become obsessed with men. You sit around endlessly talking to your friends about him and whether he will or will not call.

Question: do you think that when the two of you actually get on the phone that the desperation is not seeping through?

Answer: Of course, men can smell a needy girl from a mile away. Just drop your needy, desperate self and get a life. Guaranteed, when you do shed that unhealthy outer layer and put him out of your mind completely, he will be drawn back. There could be hundreds of reasons why he did not call you. For now, we have decided that he is a coward and like most men he wants to avoid the awkard “talk” at all cost. If you need a reason and/or closure, here you go:

Why would he call you if he knows that you are going to call him? So you decided that you are not going to play “the games” and you say to yourself “when I want to call him I will.” You call him constantly; then you wonder why he never asked you out on a date–you ask him out on a date. The cycle goes on and on, because you eliminated the chase by being to available. Now you notice that he is not giving you the adoration that you so desire.

Truth: Before you get to this point, just step away from the phone and let him pursue you. If he does not call then he does not want to talk to you.

How To Avoid The 5 Most Common Dating Mistakes

Someone else caught his eye: There lots of single people in the world, if you thought that he was cute chances are that someone thinks the same. Remember that door swings both ways, so do not compromise who you are for a man. He met someone else that he likes more than you and so what–that happens.

Truth: You liked him, he lost interest so just keep it moving. He probably did you a favor, who wants a lukewarm relationship?

He is on his grind: He is to busy building his empire to spend time and money on getting to know you. You re-arrange your whole schedule to fit his needs completely putting your needs second.

Truth: Use it as inspiration, get on your grind. Be passionate about your work too, or get a hobby.

CelebritiesMadonna Named 'god' In Malawi by Mcfeddy(op): 10:41am On Oct 30, 2009
Madonna has been branded a "God" by the Malawi orphanage she adopted son David Banda from.
The ‘Celebration’ singer – who adopted the boy, now four, from the African country in October 2006 when he was 13 months old – visited the centre where he used to live this week and the children couldn’t hold back their praise for her.

One child said to her: "You are our God. Where could we have been without you?"

Workers at the Home Child Care Centre in Mchinji, Malawi, also spoke highly of the 51-year-old star about the way she has been raising David.

The centre's director, Lucy Chipeta, said: "David is too young to understand? but for us who remember the sickly tiny little baby of 2006, it was hard to hold back tears, including Madonna."

Orphanage founder Thomson Chipeta added to Us Weekly magazine: "He is so boisterous! I can't believe he is the same chap of 2006."

Madonna – who also adopted four-year-old daughter Mercy from the country earlier this year – recently admitted she has been "taught a lot" by Malawi.

She said: "People always ask me, 'Why did you choose Malawi?' But I have always said, 'Malawi chose me.’ Growing up in a privileged life, I took education for granted. Coming to Malawi has taught me a lot."

The star is currently in the country with the two youngsters and their older siblings, Lourdes, 13, and Rocco, nine.

PoliticsPa Soludo’s Kidnappers Want Dollars Ransom by Mcfeddy(op): 10:25am On Oct 30, 2009
Abductors of Pa Simeon Soludo, father of erstwhile Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, may have changed their ransom from naira to dollars equivalent. Chukwuma Soludo, may have changed their ransom from naira to dollars equivalent.

The kidnappers had demanded N500 million ransom to effect the release of the septuagenarian.

However, a family source told Nigerian Tribune on Thursday night, that the kidnappers, who demanded N500 million ransom, had instructed the family to pay the ransom in dollars and bring it to an undisclosed location.

But it is not clear if the Soludos, who have been holding series of meetings on how to get their patriarch freed, have agreed to the kidnappers’ dollars ransom demand
PoliticsSoludo’s Mother Moved To Unknown Destination by Mcfeddy(op): 7:46am On Oct 30, 2009
Following the abduction of Pa Simeon Soludo - father of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the February 6, 2010 governorship election in Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo - his wife, Veronica, has been moved to an unknown destination.
Family sources told THISDAY yesterday that the movement was for security reasons.
A five-man gang of gunmen operating in a black Mercedes Benz 190 saloon car had stormed Soludo’s family house in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area of the state, at 6.30 pm on Tuesday and abducted the 78-year-old man.
The Soludo Campaign Organisation had claimed Wednesday that a group which called itself “Omega 12” had contacted the organisation demanding N5 billion as ransom to “defray political expenses”.
Security has, however, been beefed up around the Soludos at their family house in Isuofia.
Elder brother to the former CBN governor, Emmanuel, told sympathizers who called at their home that the security beef-up became necessary as a result of the kidnap of their patriarch.
He narrated how the hoodlums besieged their home, saying as soon as they arrived, they got hold of the two children they saw in the compound who they used as “human shield” while embarking on a frantic search of all the rooms ostensibly for the old man’s cell phone which they immediately confiscated on sighting it.
According to him, they thereafter took hold of their father who had just finished taking his bath and was about taking dinner.
“He has washed his hands to begin to eat, but they didn’t allow him before taking him away,” he said, adding that on dragging him to their black Mercedes Benz 190 saloon car, one of the kidnappers vacated his position in the back seat of the car, forced Pa Soludo into the seat sandwiched by two others, while he forced himself into the booth of the car before it sped off.
Another relation of the Soludos, Chike Anyaonu, expressed worry over Pa Soludo’s failing health before the kidnappers took him away as the old man was not allowed to take his drugs along.
More worrisome, he said, was that they had not heard his voice to establish whether he was still alive or dead.
“Indeed, we are worried about his age, failing health and poor eye sight,” he said.
Meanwhile, the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Philemon Leha, has said the former CBN governor is yet to make an official report to the police command about his father’s abduction.
Leha, in a chat with journalists in Awka last night, said he had expected the PDP candidate to lodge an official complaint in line with normal procedure.
Also reacting to the incident, the pioneer chairman of PDP in Anambra State, Chief Joseph Okonkwo, described the act as wicked and irresponsible, adding that the abductors stood to gain nothing from their actions.
He expressed regrets that the kidnappers had struck at a time the state was witnessing tranquillity for more than two months, adding that the combined security agencies of the police, the military and local vigilante had been working hard to ensure that hoodlums were kept at bay.
He prayed that the kidnappers would see reason and release the old man unharmed to the embrace of his family.
The state Police Command had Wednesday invited a PDP chieftain in the state, Chief Chris Uba, for questioning over the kidnap. Others invited for questioning were those who organised the Emmaus House rally in Awka, the state capital, against Soludo’s candidature on the same day Pa Soludo was kidnapped.
Leha said the invitation arose from the fact that it was shortly after the rally, where scathing remarks were made against Soludo’s candidature, that his father was kidnapped.
Some forces within PDP in the state opposed to the candidature of the former CBN governor had converged on Akwa on Tuesday to signify their rejection of Soludo as the party’s flag bearer.
PoliticsAtuche, Ojo Remanded In Efcc Custody by Mcfeddy(op): 2:32pm On Oct 29, 2009
Sacked Managing Directors of BankPHB and Spring Bank Plc were yesterday ordered to remain in the Lagos detention facility of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Justice Akinjide Ajakaiye of the Federal High Court, Lagos made the order shortly after Francis Atuche and Charles Enaholo Ojo were arraigned before him on a 26-count charge filed by the commission. Atuche and Ojo have been detained by the EFCC since October 16.

EFCC accused them of granting loans without securities to companies in which they have interest, granting loans with inadequate securities, exceeding their approval limits and granting loans without the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

They were also alleged to have acquired interests in other companies without CBN’s prior approval and failed to take reasonable steps in ensuring the correctness of their bank’s monthly return to the CBN. About N8billion was said to have been involved in their alleged offences.

Atuche and Ojo pleaded not guilty to the charges.
PoliticsKidnappers Demand N500 Million For Soludo's Father by Mcfeddy(op): 9:08am On Oct 29, 2009
No word has been heard about the whereabouts of Mr. Simon Nwankwo, father of the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Chukwuma Soludo, who was kidnapped on Tuesday night. However, last night, the kidnappers of the 78-year old man broke their silence.

They are demanding the sum of N500 billion as ransom before they would release the father of the putative candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2010 Anambra Sate governorship election. A senior police officer of the Anambra State command of the Nigerian police who does not want his name in print, confirmed the report of the ransom demand. He, however, said the command had not been officially notified.

Mr.Nwankwo, was kidnapped in his hometown of Isuofia in Aguata local government Area on Tuesday by a six-man gang who came in a Peugeot 406 saloon car.

Chris Uba invited

The spokesperson of the Anambra State police command, Emeka Chukwuemeka, also confirmed to NEXT that the command had issued an invitation to Chris Uba, a leader of the PDP in Anambra state to report to the command today.

Mr Chukwuemka declined comments on whether the invitation was connected to the kidnap of Mr Soludo’s father. “We invited him because of the political meeting he (Chris Uba) convened in the state capital yesterday,” he said. Sources, however, told NEXT that the invitation was on the directive of the Inspector general of Police, Ogbonnaya Onovo.

In an earlier phone conversation with NEXT, Mr Chukwuemeka said the command was yet to establish any contact with the kidnappers. He, however said that he believed that with the intense efforts being put into the search, Mr Soludo might soon be rescued.

“The command is doing its best to establish a lead, and the command has not found any,” he said. “This command has been doing everything humanly possible to establish contact with the kidnappers, but up till now, no information yet. That does not mean that even now or soon, we cannot re-establish contact with the kidnappers or rescue the man.”

Whiff of politics

But the Southeast Zone of the Nigeria Renewal Group (NRG) has accused the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party of being responsible for the kidnap.

A statement by the group’s chairman, Ejiamatu Chikwado, said the kidnap was politically motivated.

“The national leadership of the PDP ,since the Colonel Ahmadu Ali days, should be held responsible for acts of terrorism like this one because it has always rewarded its favoured members who brazenly indulge in all manner of criminal acts, even against fellow party members,” he said.

“The kidnapping of the PDP candidate’s father, apparently by his own party men, is what would always happen in a country where crime is rewarded, instead of being punished. Nigeria is not yet a country governed by the rule of law, but by the rule of men.” Chris Ngige, a former governor of the state was abducted on July 10 2003. But the group said this was equally done by his political opponents, whom it said were not punished.

“The abductors were thus encouraged to do more dastardly things, like the burning of such state institutions as the House of Assembly, the legislators’ quarters, Government House, the state judicial headquarters, broadcasting stations and others in November, 2004, for a whole two days in broad daylight,” the group said.
