Well personally, I stopped uploading my DP on NL because I found that I kept visiting my profile.
Checking out the number of likes, and if I found that the likes weren't as forthcoming, I'd take it down and change to another.
It even got more annoying when my "hard earned" likes got subtracted as a result of the new picture.

I told myself the hard truth, that in addition to people's general approval of my comments, I wanted them to approve my face too.
And with each picture I uploaded, I somehow felt inadequate.
Those times turned out to be my first real practical lessons on self acceptance/approval.


Second and most important.....despite my openness as an individual, I am not always comfortable with the fact that my face is out there.
The longest lasting DP I ever used on this forum was one where I had my face downwards, staring right into my bag.

So, yes, I think that most times...when we upload and upload different styles and pictures of ourselves, we trying to fill a void.... #HardTruthThough

That said, my thoughts aren't an absolute.

they are all same and I hope you are not isolating them from other breed of dogs, explain to people that import GSD, boerboel and other breeds that they are all same irrespective of the country it's coming from so they would stop wasting money importing them. hope we are saying same thing or is what you are saying meant for Mongrels alone?

just the mongrels. but in any case, When a gsd or other pure breed genes get altered,the resulting offspring are noticeable irrespective of the country involved. just like how Czechoslovakia breed differ from the germans bloodline(which are even split in verious types). This is as a result of various programs the breed has been subjected to on a quest to gain a perfect working breed. that's why people seek for gsd from a particular country like germany; that has less or no alteration in the breed gene that has so far maintained the breed original nature since the past decades.

I don't think a "local" dog is a mutt or Mongrel. And just because these dogs have not been recognised by the AKC doesn't mean they aren't pure. Infact they could even be "purer" than other dog breeds because they really haven't been tampered with genetically. And if we had a Kennel club in Nigeria then maybe we could have registered it as a Nigerian Shepherd. Because in truth it is our indigenous breed just like other Shepherd dogs from other countries.

what other name do u have in mind? its a mutt given name. Its called local dog because its the more rampant breed found on our home ground. The prefix"local" is not general word for the dog globally,its more like a nickname given to it to describe them due to the fact that its a familiar breed that's found in our locality that's all.

yea d nigerian shepherd dog was a name formed here on nairaland which i decided to use since we still on nairaland. And plzzzz do u know wat a mongrel or mutt means, in a simple explanation, it means a dog with no traceable origin, a mongrel could also mean a cross breed of several breed of dogs to d extent that d breed is not known, a mixed breed is a dog that has two breed in its mix, its origin can be traced. When i said nigerian locale dog, i meant dogs that originates from nigeria nd also bred here. They are also called mutt because they have no traceable origin, and y is that? Its because we dont practice planned breeding here, lets take for instance a black nd brown local dog is mixed with a similar black nd brown it produces offsprings of similar coats all depending on your purpose or plan of breeding, d offsprings if continued to be bred that way could be considered a breed, well too bad we dont have any body, agency or club here in nigeria that could regulate d standardiztion of breeds or recognition of breeds. But as a result of this unplanned breeding, white mate wit black, short wit tall, they are now considered mutt. A nigerian mutt is different from a foreign mutt and thats d point am trying to make. I believe wat is regarded as ekuke is d nigerian local dog. But a mutt could be that several breed of dogs could be in its mix nd there fore have no origin or breed, a mutt could have a pure breed in its linage bfor being mixed with oda breeds but a 9ja local mutt has no foreign breed in its mix nd therefore a 9ja made, strictly 9ja blood. (it definitly an imported mutt,right?) u mentioned this like u can fathom the true pedigree of the pup. if not,what does the pup looks like to u and also tell me why it shouldn't be called the local dog (mongrel) or probably the nigerian shepherd like u put it since it true origin is untraceable? And again, go do a research about this breeds u will see the ones in america,that of india and the rest of africa are basically the same with ours here in appearance. I once watched an american movie where i came across mutt which looks so much the same with the once we have here;for once i did thought twas imported from nigeria . Dont know if u remember a thread about an asian woman that married her pet(mutt). they basically the same;the mutation in thier DNA has undergone series of mutation by many generations to arrive at a stable formation with nothing left to mutate again, unless a new DNA comes in(let say one from a pedigree origin)

A local dog aka ekuke is a general name for ya so called mongrel(mutt). Dont go misleading people about nigerian shepherd dog, what's that? That name doesn't exist if u go searching just a cooked up name here in nairaland. Go to any country, you will see those (ekuke) roaming the streets without homes cos people prefer dogs with traceable pedigree and specie name. That Ops dog will remain a local dog until a better recognized name by AKC or better FCI is given to such breed.

My first pup died at the age of 6 month without having any idea of treating a dog thinking i will just buy and feed..died due to my ignorance of not spending a dime on her, everyday only the pup i will see in my dream..pains me alot though...didnt wait time to get a new pup a male and a female..

right now this is dango ( i myself confuse wella with the gene of this dog,i do wonder the kind of offspring that bears such a dog i cant tell which breed does it originate from, be it gsd/dobb , gsd/rott or rott/dobb , take a look at the pic and see his markings with full erect ears)
and my female pup bella (alsatian) though i love dango to bella coz she doesnt rest always barking at the slighest provocation..

Depending on how much you're willing to spare, u can do royal canin, it costs 19,800, or u can settle for Arion puppy which costs 8,000...Thats for the dry feed, follow up with Jojo canned food... Don't forget multivitamin tabs too...

Hi there, do u realise your dog is still a pup, what some Nigerians would call "young adult"... Do the needful and stop paying attention to some excuses given by ur vet. Follow her up with vit tabs and supplements. I've not heard of any case where a particular brand of processed dog food was reported to delay heat. Your dog is not just ready to come on heat, so don't sweat over it, and even if she comes on heat, u can't mate on her first heat, not advisable.

This case can be likened to the life of two twin sisters... One of them hit her menstrual cycle at age 10 while the other didn't hit hers until 15...

So bro, take ur mind off it and feed ur dog what u think is right for her age.

thanks for the heads up bro. I myself is pretty much aware that my gsd is still a pup but hearing such from a professional side really got me wondering. despite being wrong,I wouldn't counter him on his statement. if you're to choose between jojo and diamond puppy, which one would u go for?

Help me out guys. M contemplating between buying diamond puppy or premium adult for my gsd,she will be a year in a week time. I have this notion that the puppy formular will make her grow bigger cos she's a bit lean due to her low appetite but the vet advised me otherwise that its not proper considering she's a female; that too much fat will hinder her from entering heat. This got me worried cos she hasn't entered her first heat ever since I got her. On the other hand he also advised that I should take the premium adult for nursing dame and sporting dogs;its better off due to the fact that it has better metabolism that will aid her into entering heat on time. My problem now is which one is going to provide my gsd with enough essentials to aid her a better growth...

just looks like mine when i first got her... don't be discouraged by what people say at this puppyhood stage... don't be surprised when she changes for better as her(my guess its a female) age progresses. feed(kibbles or equivalent) her well together with vitamin supplements. she's looks 2-3 months of age.

@ op shed more light on this... Carrying salts and medicine of unknown manufacturers in their bag all around. In case. abeg does it mean she carries the salt in case she wants to treat or cook for her boo or what?

funny thing is i wont be around...even though am around,aint planning on mating the bitch with another gsd not dango..if they mistakenly litter,since i aint going to be there..then there is nothing i can do..leaving them in the hands of my momma..no one gonna be around,my bro is abroad also,would have bought a quality slant back from idehen..so i just opted to get these dog for my momma..will be geting male and female slant back by the time i just land..cant wait to take action..

wanted to buy only the female..but Dango was almost given freely since it a mix..
they are 4 month old now..

right now I am pondering if I will have the time to buy and maintain a high quality gsd abroad at the same time studying, I cant do without a dog..i will be leaving by July..leaving these ones behind

bella is pretty awesome,she's a nice gsd and dango, he's pretty cool though. hope u ain't planning on breeding them both.

it looks like a gsd to me,i won't say 100% but closer to the real deal,m considering a sable gsd. try feeding him well if u really want the best from that dog.
