A coalition of groups in the Niger Delta on Thursday maintained that the tenure of Chief Nsima Ekere as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), had elapsed since November 1.

While quoting from the appointment letter it said it obtained from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), a petition signed by Alali Bokutengo, Miebaka Harrison, Nsan Ebirien and Cordelia Etuk-Udo, leaders of the group, said it was illegal for the MD to continue in office.

Under the auspices of the Eastern Niger Delta Coalition, (ENDC), the group noted that by the appointment letter dated November 1, 2016 with Ref. No: SGF.55/S.2/C.3/IV/52, signed by the sacked former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, Ekere was supposed to serve out the tenure of the last person who occupied the position.

Part of the letter it purportedly obtained read: “I am pleased to inform you that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has approved your appointment as Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), following your confirmation by the Senate on Tuesday October 11 2016 in accordance with Sections 2(2) a and 12 (1) (c) of the NDDC (Establishment) Act 2000.

“The appointment took effect from November 1 2016 and you are to serve out the remainder of the term of office of your predecessor in line with Section 5(2) of the Act. Your emoluments and other conditions of service are as provided under the “Certain Political, Public and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc) (Amendment) Act 2008.”

The Niger Delta group argued that the document has ended the speculations on the allegations that there were plans by the cabals in the Presidency to elongate his tenure and that of the NDDC Board Chairman.

It said the ‘so-called extension’ was not only morally wrong, but does not stand on any legal high ground, noting that a cabal in the presidency was hell-bent on ensuring that the present MD continues in the position.

“The whole exercise is offensive and contrary to the extant/explicit provisions of the relevant sections of the NDDC Act. This fraud should not be allowed to stay a day longer because of the consequences it would bequeath on the region.

“The peaceful co-existence among tribes and ethnic nationalities would be shaken to its foundation and rather replaced by mistrust and mutual suspicion- an invitation to breakdown of law and order”, the group said.

Guy am not here to drag words with you am too mature for that. Incase you want to know, I went there with top priority. I did go for visitation, was granted a pass because I know my way. Such pass you won't get it if you don't have someone in. Let me correct you once more. I never said you can't get your way in but if you go in group you can only get pass on Tuesday and Thursday because that's the day that was put aside for visitation and must be something important. Except if the CSO get a pass order. That office na my area okay. If you think to enter NDDC headquarter na beans go there na an try your luck even on visitation day you might not get in. I was there today at NDDC headquarter... the fact is the list has not even surface at fifth floor after the last boards sitting.
In fact the Awaiting final approval now is not from Nsina alone but some strong headed chairmen at the top.
and also government matters.
I also inquired about our brothers/sisters that have not been paid, the truth is the whole problem is Government palava...''corruption'' in quote..
now this has nothing to do with any scholars at all but some wicked uncles and aunties that are in charge from top....
all documents and findings ready but to approve the money now is a big problem, because the probe on what happened to last NDDC budget is now the question on board.
I dislike this people.
Anyway lets hope as no cogent info was given on approval day.
I say we wait for the release and as for our scholars that are not paid yet the best thing is to protest at the headquarter and at Abuja . live protest is need trust me NDDC will bend because there is money in NDDC. If you can't make it let your brothers represent you or sister and also let us aspiring scholars join them if you are near.

my question to you is, do those you said got it through undue process had the qualified documents for the award and are they from Niger Delta?... Award is award and as far as the awardees are from NIGER DELTA then he/she is qualified.

The whole selection process was damn from the time of CBT. please no one in here should blame any past scholars for anything, is their right in as much as they are Niger deltans. if you has any problem go cast your blame on the boards of directors for not releasing the fund for the Award. you should pray to make the list and stop the blame game. your present leaders tried it and is not working well for them.....learn from past. thanks.

Don't listen to any fake rumors here...No one gat access to info on when the list will be release... the release of the list is subject to government "parol"....I've made a call to some top men and yet they gat no info on when the list will be release...all they said was that it will be release anytime but no one knows when... so guys don't believe on fake rumors here, they ain't gat no fucking info on that. My take on in all is that we should cross our fingers and await anytime it comes out then we take it and if it doesn't we take it but the ultimate is that each and everyone of us should be praying to make this list...thanks. @ Cebu stop spreading and giving fake hope.

Mobilize to where precisely? All September resumption date gone. Till next september 2018 or February 2018 that's only if the school take in February. All admissions need to be differ and mind you this current CEO/MD will not accept change of institution as that's part of what they said constitute all this mess. The page I read mine from clearly stated that the list will be publish on the NDDC website. And those of you with negative mind, thinking mail or message might have been sent, is falls. No mail or text will be send. The list will be publish only that the exact time is unknown.

You are here talking about merit...when the CBT test was a mess...if you are to talk about merit you should have informed Godson before the CBT that the test should be base on one field of study....not bringing masscom question for all social science favouring those who studied masscom over others who did not...wake up from your dream bro...talking of merit...go ask your so call leaders who amongst them merit the position they occupied today starting from the Presidency. Is so foolish that some of you guys are here fighting over stupid issues( who qualify and who didn't qualify, publish scores blablabla..). Who cares about that. the fact is, is the awardee from Niger delta or not! If he/she is a Niger Deltan then he/she is qualify for the award. The whole process was a mess at first instance. The pasport should be in gif and not jpeg. Resize it to 250*250pix. Below 49kb, your state of origin certificate, then your school cert., or OND, HND, or BSC etc. Then fill in the appropriate space. You are done click continue, the check if all info. Are correct then click submit before printing. Print the page with your ref. No. That's all.
