Each country has is own area of specialization or assigned task. The Chinese’s are mainly engaged in the Transport section. They came with a lot of trucks used in transporting relief materials to refugee’s camp. They also transport equipments, fuel and food to UN peacekeepers in remote areas.

darefestus: A conti A contingent of different countries put together, you expect each country to display it’s cultural / traditional heritage. I have thousands of pictures to share with you guys. The marital art display was done during the celebration of the Chinese new year. Take for example this musical concept organised by the Indian / Nepalses Contingent.

This militant believes by eating the heart of dead militant he can inherited his mystic powers. Such display of cannibalism was rampant throughout the period of the war.

The UN mission in Liberia (UNMIL) commenced after the signing of Peace Agreement in Accra, the Republic of Ghana and passing of 1509 UN Resolution on 19 September 2003, the mandate of which is in keeping with Chapters VI and VII of the UN Charter. The current mandate of UNMIL, which had nearly 13,000 troops, police officers and military observers from more 30 countries across the globe. The essence of this trend is to show the input of various countries including the best participating country in UN peacekeeping “Nigeria.” This trend will show the contributions of Nigeria Military, Nigeria Police, Nigeria Immigration and Nigeria Prison Service in the enhancement of the peace process in Liberia. |

What is today called the Liberian civil war lasted for over a decade. Although there was nothing civil about the barbarism, at least, that is how it is called. Some called it the "Liberian uncivil war." Maybe that description puts it closer to something that destroyed lives and shattered others. I witnessed it and felt it to the bone. I have therefore decided to commit some time narrating my experience and giving Nairalanders some pictured insight to the war and reasons why such kind of war if fought in Nigeria would be disastrous. The narration and pictures is brief and not in any specific order. It was pure madness: tribe against tribe, neighbor against neighbor, schoolmate against school mate Perhaps my brief narration of what I saw and felt will help Nairalanders on the Politic Section to piece together reasons why tribalism can lead Nigeria to become a battlefield for human beings behaving so insane. |
