Again, you simply an illiterate.

Economic Migration is the key your question. Read about it well and understand it to its fullest context. Start with 15th century Dutch East indian companies and migrations to South Africa during that era
Nigerians living in SA make it clearly that they rather die here than go back to their sh...hole called Nigeria

Yes a lie sold to you by Mandela.

Read the book "The devils arithmetic" by Ladi Thompson, might give you good insights into this.

1. You institute a Master/Slave society and exploit its people and natural resources

2. You miscalculate the exponential growth of the subjugated class until mathematically you are outnumbered

3. You prop up an Iconic symbol to create a bridge between you and the oppressed people in an attempt to resolve the mathematical problem

4. YOu hand over power with promises of equalizing the society and redistributing wealth. YOu sell the dream but in reality you retain the class systems.

5. 20 years later, the dream is not realized yet and another 100 more it probably won't judging from similar countries with similar issues.

6. Viola you have South AFRIcA in a nutshell.
that's a Nigerian imaginary version of SA...if the picture of SA you are painting here was true, surely there would have been no single Nigerian living here

South Africa is in a way irrelevant. Where is the cultural and traditional pride in your people? Some of you praise Afrikaans as an actual language when it's just Dutch.

To me, Senegal, Mali, Niger, Chad, Cameroon, Guinea, Burkina Faso, Ghana I spend far more time thinking about those countries than distant South Africa. Nigeria first then those countries next. So you can continue to wallow in your own self-perceived importance. Most Nigerians don't care 1 kobo about South Africa. That's just a fact.
the fact that Nigerians flock to SA like flies make your point invalid...it tells me that you wish your country was better in everything than every African country...unfortunately that's not the case, instead your people emigrate to other countries for better life...

Cool, it doesn't change the fact that the blacks in south Africa have a vast inferiority complex.
dont you think people who have a vast inferiority complex are those who sing the Giant song although they have got nothing to show?

Deceiving yourself into thinking up a false reality isn't healthy. I can tell you with the utmost certainty South Africa is one of the countries I think about the least. I listen to a lot of traditional African music, and South Africa isn't even on the list of countries I listen to. To me, South Africa is a confused nation. When you started using whites and other non-blacks to represent your nation in beauty competitions, I knew for a fact that the nation had severe inferiority complex issues. I don't have time for that sort of thing.
hey south Africa is a multiracial country...we are proud of that and we love it that way..

160 million strong!

Three Gbosa for Seun!
160 million discussing about a country of 54 million....it understandable though,SA is every Nigerian destination

This is a huge forum and south Africans are not on the top of the list of discussed issues. We discuss just about every group of Africans in addition to our own internal problems. Most Nigerians don't even think of South Africa or know where it's located on the map. That's how irrelevant South Africa is to the average Nigerian. Maybe if those fools killing other Africans would not kill other Africans then south Africa wouldn't be discussed.
let me tell you how I joined this forum last yr...every time I tried to google events happening in SA...Nairaland kept on floating, indeed many threads are not about SA but you will find that in most topics SA is been used as a case study..

You can't pick and choose. There is no where better than home in a foreign nation (what I mean by foreign is nations with much different cultural experience.) I don't consider countries like Niger, Mali, Senegal, Burkina Faso foreign to me because I can relate culturally with them.

However going to countries like Western countries and even some countries in Africa (like South Africa) people face risking being discriminated against. I know for a fact I'll never go or want to go to South Africa, I wouldn't be able to practise my culture there.
if you are a Nigerian, what do you think of Nigerians who are threatening to drive out igbo people from Lagos?

I would have thought that the laws of the land would be implemented there rather than inflicting any form of harm to a fellow human, but instead you would agree with me and so will every other person in the world that it was even the law abiding persons that lost their lives or properties.
unfortunately the government of SA was doing the brotherhood thing so that poor people from other African countries can also get a piece of cake...it backfired ultimately

Very Weak comeback.

I am disappointed.

Those Africans in your University are an asset to your system but you lack enough common sense to realize that cause you feel you just got back the country 20 years ago and are adamant on not sharing the spoils with these "black Foreigners".

Meanwhile since 20 years "White foreigners" have been buying up property and land in your country, pricing you out of areas like Camps bay and the likes.

YOu don't have a problem there though!
you can't stand on one topic because you are clueless...you are worried about white foreigners buying properties in SA...if I may ask you...who owns eko Atlantic?

We agree perfectly on this matter.

Now move forward from toi toing and tell your government to revamp your educational system cause Apatheid is gone, no more Jan van riebeeck and Paul Kruger.

Replace the knowledge with people like Jomo Kenyatta, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Thomas Sankara, Patrice Lumumba, Mobutu Sese seko and the likes.
you better give that advice to your fellow young Nigerians to stop flocking to SA for our varsity education

guardian09:
Well lets look at that last paragraph again, from what I can decipher you seem to agree that SA is moving forward right? Now the recent attacks on foreigners in SA was based on allegations that foreigners have taken all the jobs in SA, so tell me please how is driving this same people that have contributed in moving your beloved country forward is the right thing to do? one would think the best thing to do is learn as much as possible from the foreigners or better still export your skills/expertise to another country after all no man is an Island or what do you think?
this thing of foreigners taking our jobs is neither here nor there...the two major causes of xenophobia in SA are 1.foreigners without proper documentation

2.foreigners committing crimes
