this is why we need a strict administrative adherence in Nigeria public service otherwise simple things looks like rocket science.
This is long overdue.
I will recommend mentality overhauling. As in, formatting and resetting. The advanced in age just believe you must not hit high at an early stage.
Some will argue over the appointment of a young, vibrant person as the head of a unit/department. The argument is always "what does he know"

The system in Nigeria can quickly cringe dreams.
You can imagine, even on masters thesis, students spent years, not because of laziness but because of constant frustration from the supervisor.

Some of these supervisor are not even available for their students. And this kills the zeal of many researchers

what are you saying? You think it is easy in other parts of the world? Education has not been able to provide solutions to Nigeria's problems as it is in most parts of the world because of poor quality leadership. Check when covid19 came up, how universities across developed societies were developing vaccines to solve or manage it. Education in Nigeria needs a total change and a state of emergency being declared.
I can't agree with you less on this
EducationRe: Most Chinese Professors I Met Are Young, Apostle Chibuzor Recounts by Mear23(op): 9:21am On Aug 16, 2025
It's not that easy in other clime too.
In my view, I think it's a wrong mentality by the supposed people at the top (those who have attained professorship).
Even with this so called toughness, the other climes keep bringing out cutting edge innovation.

Seriously, what cam we say is wrong with the Nigeria System of Education.
EducationMost Chinese Professors I Met Are Young, Apostle Chibuzor Recounts by Mear23(op):
Why such a big gap? 🤔

Is it:

A difference in academic career pathways?

Merit-based vs. tenure-based promotions?

Cultural perceptions of when one is “ready” to be called a professor?

Or are we simply looking at two very different definitions of ‘professor’?

I’d love to hear your thoughts — because this might say a lot about how we view expertise, opportunity, and youth in academia.

FamilyRe: Is My Wife Right To Ask This? by Mear23: 6:12pm On Aug 13, 2025
@OP Please every child deserves the best, enrol the girl in the same school with your child.
Please don't change her school to public school.

Israel5:
Please (even though I know my appeal with fall on deaf ears too numerous to count in this forum), approach this issue with logic and without prejudice to the people involved.

My wife and I are duly blessed with a son who is in his basic 5 now. Also, we decided to get the daughter of one of my cousin to stay with us. She is one of 7 children. So I wanted to help raise a CHIMAMANDA.

As my rule, every child of same age under my room attends the same school and calls us Dad & Mum. The school part didn't quite seat well with my wife, who had a different opinion, but I prevailed anyway. Because na me dey pay school fees.

The girl is a year older than my son, but due to the level of education at the village before she came over, we made her be in the same class as my son. She met my son in primary 2. Now they are both in basic 5.

A shocker happened: This girl keeps coming up in the class, while my son keeps running away from the top. We've tried extra lessons, even tried changing schools. Now it looks as if the girl is better suited for school than my boy. She reads, spells and memorizes things too marvellous. I bought a dictionary cos of that.

I even buy gifts for her (for coming top) more than I do for my boy, to make him sit up, but my pikin nor send me o. Guy use cry & Woman power make me buy am bicycle. 😁

I would think he's being a spoilt boy, who believes daddy & mommy is there, I don't really know. But I am hopeful.

Now, my major issue is my heavily pregnant wife. She wants the girl to be changed/enrolled at a different school. In her defence, she wants her to be available to help her take care of things. The kid's school close by 3pm. She suggest government school that close earlier. I see sense in what she said but I feel like I'll be unfair to this young girl.

When I tried to have a healthy debate on the idea. Na so madam start to dey talk plenty tins wey I nor fit type.
I have accepted to do her wish from September for peace.

Please, do you see another way I could avoid problems?

Is she right to have asked that I changed the girl's school just because she needs help around the house & her business?
HealthRe: My Wife's Serious Fertility Issue Is Affecting My Mental Health by Mear23: 3:59pm On Aug 13, 2025
I want to assume you did not take pregnancy preventing substances during your one year of waiting. It's often advised you don't take that after marriage.

I will advise you take herbal medicines for the fibroid. There may be herbal for block fallopian tube too.
Dm if you need help

KobeMan:
We married A Year ago. We decided to wait for a year before having kids. We started trying 3 few months but no success. I told both of us needs to get tested. I did Sperm Analysis & the result is good, I'm very fertile.

She did pelvic scan, and in the scan, She has fibroid (Submocousal fibroid 5.5cm). The news broke me and I was very sad, I never imagined I'll be in this kind of situation. We went to the gynecologist and He told us to go for HSG to check her fallopian tube, The result showed that Both Tubes are blocked.

I've not been myself for the last couple of days. I had to pretend to be strong because She was down & has been crying as well. This are two serious fertility issues and Her chances of conception is very low. Even if The gynecologist tells us to do the IVF(Which I don't even have money for it cause it's vey expensive) They'll still have to remove the fibroid.

This are very expensive procedures that are not even guaranteed that it will work and She will conceive. I'm the only male child in my family, in my early 30's. Pressure will start coming from all directions and also considering my my age, I don't pray to experience delay with child birth. I just decided to pour own my mind here. I'm really down, I don't know what to do.

I can't agree with you less on this.
But you can imagine a child filled with vibrancy with high hope. Yet despite persistency, the child realised there are no avenue to express such hope. This is where we found ourself in Nigeria. And the leaders are not trying to remedy the situation.

TravelAnother Side Of Japa: The Nigerian Exodus by Mear23(op): 12:53pm On Jul 13, 2025
The term "Japa" has become a popular expression especially among young people. Japa had it source from Yoruba language, literally meaning “to run swiftly” or “to escape.”
In the modern Nigerian context, it has evolved to mean emigrating from Nigeria to seek better opportunities abroad.
Unlike before when young vibrant youth are trooping to the Western countries like Canada, the UK, the US, or Europe. Nowadays, they troops in to different countries, especially where opportunities exists.

Why Are People "Japa-ing"?

The rise in the "Japa" phenomenon is an indication that the youths are really tired of dysfunctional society and therefore desire an environment where they will be productive, build stable and fulfilling life, and a place where their efforts will be appreciated.

Controversies About Japa

While some view Japa as a smart escape from an unstable system, others see it as abandoning the homeland rather than staying to fix it. In my own viewpoint, I sticked to the former rather than the latter.

My take

Until the root causes are addressed, the desire to "Japa" will likely remain strong, as individuals seek dignity, safety, and opportunity beyond the country's borders.

My point is, why will I buy computer at Alaba when it's Computer village that predominantly sells it.
Also, why buying electronics at Eko when it's Alab that sells it.

Mear23:
I dey visit this market back to back, especially, Computer Village, Alaba, Mushin and all markets in Lagos.
I have never been scammed for once.

Setting your priority right will help you escape this guys.
1. What are you planning to buy....then which market sells it.
2. You have no business with all those street guys....enter legit shops. ( sometimes, I buy corn from corn seller to get the opportunity to ask for a right direction)
3. Don't be carried away with cheap prices
