davo80:
*THE BLASPHEMOUS DECLARATION BY PMB*

In Falz voice,This is Nigeria, where irrelevant things make headlines and the government counts it as achievement to the amusement of its many educated yet fantastically gullible, extremely hungry and depressed followers.

Just yesterday, president Muhammadu Buhari announced to the world that DemoCRAZY day in Nigeria has been changed from May 29th to June 12th in remembrance of the late Chief MKO Abiola. He didn't just stop at that as he further went on to confer on him the highest honors in the land. The title of the GCFR. He didn't just stop there as he further went on to confer on Chief Gani Fawehinmi the title of the GCON which also happens to be the second highest title in the land.

When I came across this announcement, there was a certain outrage that took over me. The first thought that came to mind was SACRILEGE. Immediately,I went online to see the reactions of a very brilliant country and my expectations were set on the fact that the federal government will getting serious backlashes for bringing the names of two Great and selfless men into the dirty politics of the day. Alas,I was online and my expectations were cut short when the reverse was the case.

Instead of properly analyzing the motives behind this act, instead of asking serious questions like" Is this what we need in Nigeria at this point" and instead of condemning in very strong terms this abominable and blasphemous act by the federal government, what I saw was a Nation dancing unclad to the disgraceful drum beats being played by the federal government.

With all due respect to MKO and Chief GANI,I stand to rebuke the federal government for this act and also bring to the front line some questions that have been on my mind since then.

Is this truly what we need at this critical time as a nation? Will this conferment on this men actually change the current plight in the country? Will this conferment reduce the cost of transportation in the country? Will this conferment reduce the prices of essential commodities that have been at an all time high for the past 3 years in the market? Will this conferment bring to an abrupt end the insurgency in the north East? Will this conferment finally put to an end the incessant killings currently going on in the middle belt by rampaging herdsmen? Will this conferment solve the electricity riddle of the nation?By the virtue of this conferment, will the standards of our educational and health sector improve significantly?will this conferment improve the general standard of living in Nigeria?
If the answers to all these questions are NO,then I ask again "of what essence is this conferment"?

Going further, I was tempted to ask myself " would MKO and chief Gani actually have accepted this honors were they to be alive in the midst of all these irregularities, poverty, hatred, killings, insecurity and joblessness currently plaguing the nation today"? Are we as a nation living up to the dreams and expectations of this two Great men? If not, then I am compelled to say instead of honoring their memories like the government is claiming to do,I am of the opinion that their memories have been greatly insulted. I have no doubt in my heart that Chief MKO and chief Gani would have bluntly rejected these honors if they were to be alive to witness the calamity currently going on in Nigeria and it wouldn't have been the first time such rejections would have been bequeathed to Nigeria. Its still fresh in my memory, how literature Guru, late Chinnua Achebe rejected the national honors conferred on him by what he described as a failed state.

If the "Achebe treatment" would have been their reactions, then why should any sane and responsible person confer on these great men what they would have rejected if they were to be alive? To me,this is sacrilegious.

For the benefits of those who have not been too acquainted with history,Late chief MKO Abiola was the Winner of the June 12 1993 free and fair elections. He was about to be rigged of his victory by Gen Ibrahim Babangida when he decided to take his destiny into his own hands by announcing himself as the winner of the elections. For this crime,he was arrested and jailed by Gen sani Abacha. Chief MKO Abiola eventually died in jail. Now, the interesting fact about this little history is that Gen Muhammadu Buhari was a serving minister of petroleum under the Abacha regime. The same regime that jailed and killed chief Abiola that Mr Buhari is honoring today. Just last month,President Buhari reaffirmed a statement earlier attributed to him that "Abacha is the best leader Nigeria have had" the same Abacha whose loots are still drooling into the country from foreign nations in unprintable figures, the same Abacha who jailed and killed MKO,the same MKO whom buhari's government is ridiculing today with such blasphemous and politically motivated title.

From the inception of our independence, the elites in Nigeria have taken Nigerians to be ignoramus whose problems can be solved by giving them a pinch of honey out of the abundance of honey we have in the land, and this status quo has remained so because over and again, the common Nigerian has proven to be an easy pun in the hands of this elites. Will anyone in his right senses not know that this move is politically motivated just to garner votes from the southwest come 2019? Else why wait till barely 8months to the next general elections to carryout this blasphemous "Patriotic" act?

Why do Nigerians keep leaving in self denial? The better part of this mediocrity is yet to be seen. It'll be unveiled when the 2019 presidential campaigns would be in full gear and this MEDIOCRITY will be listed as an achievement of this blasphemous government.
Nigeria,a country so blessed with rich and sound minds, keeps leaving in self denial because of greed,Ego,religious and ethnic sentiments. For how long shall we continue to allow these men ride us like horses? For how long until we spark a revolution that will forever change the fortunes of this country for good? for how long before we start focussing on the relevant things while we do away with the irrelevant?

At this juncture, permit me to air my disappointment at the level of accolades this MEDIOCRITY has been getting. If we all agree that this conferment wouldn't better the lives of the common man in the streets,or those living under the bridges and in the market places for lack of funds to afford proper housing, since this conferment wouldn't improve the education, electricity, health, security, transport sectors and the general standard of living in Nigeria as a whole, then I make bold to say its an achievement not worth celebrating. We can only celebrate these Great men when we start working in accordance to the blueprint they've laid down for the Nation. Little wonder Barr. Folarin Falana aka Falz accused all Nigerians of being CRIMINALS. Of a truth, every movement of the government, always has a criminal motive and "THIS"is one of such cases as it is aimed at stealing unmerited votes from the southwest.
