budaatum: Most likely my mind, to be honest. And what I read. Though my eyes aren't what they used to be, I confess.
There were days I could read for hours non-stop, but more and more my mind has gotten in the way to further consider what my eyes see. My eyes just want to look while my mind wants to see for itself how it looks, and determine what might be meant and what it could be used for. It's like they at war. Frustrating when there's lots of questions on a page.
My reading is somewhat hard too, I think. Lately, it's been Kant. I've started from when he believed and before he started using his mind so I can read his more mature Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals, having just recently finished Being and Time which has taken me ......... I'm letting you work out and tell.
Screw all that. I'm just lazy these days is true too. Going by your response your eyes are perfectly okay. Have you read Arthur Schopenhauer's books? |

budaatum: My mum was not an atheist. Both my parents were Anglican born and bred, and attended Saint John's Primary School where they taught them to read the Bible from the beginning to the end. And that was I brought up with, or rather, was kobokorised into us her children. She had a three headed one in those early days.
That said, I do somewhat agree that "child upbringing determines the religion he or she will follow", though there are millions of exceptions, as many do not continue to follow their parents religion as many atheists here will confirm.
My maternal great great grandfather, for instance, was born into Ifa and sent his son to learn Islam when they arrived in the Orolu Kingdom with a book. My great grandfather sent his son to the Anglican school when they arrived because they had a book, and my grandfather did the same with my mother. For as far as they were concerned, a book is Ifa, and Ifa is the Word of God. Mother though, being a nurse who worked shifts to feed mouths, never had time for church or routine, so the disciplined aspect of learning to read was compensated with koboko, sadly, but that meant my reading was not corrupted with jump around the book that Christians often practise, thank the Gods.
My paternal great grand father was Basorun, the King of all the Heavens over the Orolu Kingdom - at least. We are arrogant like that - and I think my father was looking for ways to king the heavens. Lol. After all, "In the beginning was the Word", and "not by bread alone", so he too read, a lot, seeking the Way.
So in all honesty, you are correct in saying, my child upbringing determined that the religion I will follow will be 'book reading', or it at least used to be since my eyes work no more so I hardly get to finish a book these days.
I think my reading was about god hunting, which I've exhausted, so let's say my past religion was hunting for understanding, which I religiously did till I understood, at least to the extent that I do, for that's what the word "god" signifies, to me.
I add the below to antagonise the sight of deep. About your eyes, is it too much reading that caused it sorry to ask |

budaatum: Yes she did. Even when you done nothing wrong sometimes. There was a time she was frustrated having to bring up her 5 kids by herself and wasn't coping well.
Now you make me think, Meedon, it's likely her who brought me up an atheist. After my dad and his Amorc obsession, her mantra was more "from the sweat of thy brow shall you eat" than, "manna from heaven", and no gods saved us from that koboko. So I bought a dog, lol. It loved chewing the leather and saved me a lot. Omo so your mum was an atheist. This shows that a child upbringing determines the religion he or she will follow. |

Holy marry mother of God pray for us as we are sne sne sne sne One old woman deh there the pray for ndi catholic Ourtruth247: The Veiled Lady
The sculpture I uploaded below is called “The Veiled Lady.” It is said to have been sculpted by an Italian artist in 1847.
The first thing to note about this sculpture is that there are no photos of its creation process. You would think that the crafting of such a masterful work would have been documented, especially considering that cameras already existed at the time.
The second thing to note is that we are told it was sculpted during a period when there were no power tools. This means it was supposedly made entirely with a hammer and chisel. Even modern artists, equipped with advanced tools and centuries of accumulated knowledge, struggle to replicate this level of precision.
Many of our current professional sculptors with decades of experience have expressed disbelief at how such a delicate veil effect could have been achieved using only basic tools.
The third thing to note is that most people are seeing this sculpture for the first time. It is not taught in schools, nor is it often mentioned in documentaries or art history discussions. You only come across works like this when you do your own independent research.
The most important thing to note about this sculpture is that it represents one of the most extraordinary demonstrations of artistic mastery ever achieved in marble. It was carved from a single block of stone and portrays a woman whose face is delicately covered by a thin, transparent veil.
The realism is so striking that it’s hard to believe the veil isn’t made of real fabric. The sculptor created an almost supernatural illusion of softness and transparency. Every fold of the veil reveals the contours of the woman’s face beneath it, all of this captured with breathtaking precision.
It’s more than a sculpture; it’s a miracle of craftsmanship that challenges the belief that it could have been made with just a hammer and chisel. And if it wasn’t, it raises questions about what kind of technology might have been used to create it
This sculpture wasn’t created by some Italian artist in 1847. It is, in fact, a remnant of a far more advanced civilization that existed before us; a group of humans erased from our history books, whose buildings, architecture, and artifacts were stolen, repurposed, and falsely attributed to random individuals |
