How do you know that it is divine inspiration that revealed the birth of Jesus to the old testament prophet?

This prophecy vividly describes the suffering Messiah who would bear the sins of the world. It’s one of the clearest foretellings of Jesus’ sacrificial death.
Psalm 22:16
“For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.”

Though written centuries before crucifixion was even practiced, this Psalm points clearly to the suffering of Jesus on the cross.

Daniel 9:26
“And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself…”

The Messiah was to be “cut off”; killed, but not for His own sins. He died in our place. And it happened exactly the same year it was predicted.

New Testament Affirmation:

John 1:29
“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

Jesus came as the fulfillment of every prophetic shadow, from the Passover lamb to Isaiah’s Suffering Servant.

2. Statements Made by Jesus Predicting His Own Deat

Jesus didn’t come unaware of His fate. In fact, He spoke often and clearly about His coming suffering, death, and resurrection.

“From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things… AND BE KILLED, and be raised again the third day.”

John 10:17–18
“Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself…”

This vividly refers to his death.

Mark 10:45
“For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to GIVE HIS LIFE A RANSOM FOR MANY.”

Jesus willingly gave His life, not as a victim, but as a Savior on a mission.

3. Account of His Death
The Gospels record the sobering and holy account of Jesus’ crucifixion.

“Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.”

Luke 23:46
“And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.”

John 19:30
“When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.”

He bore the full weight of sin, fulfilled the demands of justice, and finished the work of redemption on the cross.

4. Proof of His Resurrection
Death was not the end of Jesus. His resurrection is the seal of our hope.

“And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”

Luke 24:6–7
“He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.”

John 20:27–28
“Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands… and be not faithless, but believing.

And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.”

The resurrection was witnessed by many, and even doubters like Thomas were fully convinced.

5. The Apostles Testified That Jesus Died for Our Sins

After Jesus ascended to heaven, the apostles boldly declared His death as the means of our salvation.

Romans 5:8
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

1 Corinthians 15:3–4
“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”

1 Peter 2:24
“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

The apostles’ message was centered on the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ—it was not just a historical event but a spiritual reality with eternal significance.

6. Testimony from the Book of Revelation
Even in the final book of the Bible, the death of Jesus is still the central theme.

Revelation 1:5
“And from Jesus Christ… unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.”

Revelation 5:9
“And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy… for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.”

Revelation 13:8
“…the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”

From Genesis to Revelation, Jesus is revealed as the Lamb who died for our sins. His sacrifice is the heartbeat of redemption, and even in eternity, heaven sings of the worthiness of the Lamb.

The entire Bible points to one glorious truth; Jesus Christ came to save sinners. He fulfilled prophecy, predicted His own death, died on the cross, rose again, and now reigns forever. His death wasn’t an accident; it was a divine act of love.

As Paul says:

Romans 1:16
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth…”

This is the same question Nicodemus asked our Lord Jesus when the subject of born again was first mentioned.

It is not a physical rebirth. It is a spiritual rebirth. It is God giving you a brand new spirit the very moment you accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.

It involves two steps.

Step 1. Believe in your heart that Jesus died for you and rose again from the dead.
Step 2. Confess what you believe with your mouth and declare that Jesus is the Lord of your life.

The basis of this steps is Romans 10:9-10 which reads:
