An abused husband who secretly endured 12 years of beatings from his drunken wife secretly set up a spy camera to film her beating him up after he feared the police might not believe him. According to SunOnline, 45-year-oldNeil Tweedywas physically abused by his wifeHelen, 45, for up to 12 years including an assault on their own wedding night in which she smothered him with a duvet and forced him to sleep on the sofa. Neil who kept it as a secret for years believed his hard drinking teacher wife would some change, but after they had a child she continued to be abusive towards him. Over the summer, the 45-year-old father of one secretly installed a hidden camera at the couple's £200,000 semi detached in Stretford, Greater Manchester. During a two-month period, Helen was filmed slapping her husband around the head and swearing at him once in front of their daughter, now four. Police were called in after Neil who captured three different incidents, feared his wife's violent conduct would escalate and handed over the footage. Appearing before the Manchester magistrates court, Helen admitted three charges of common assault by beating and was issued with a restraining order banning her from contacting her husband. The couple had met 16 years ago and appeared to family and friends to be a happy couple. Prosecuting, Robin Lynch said: ""Four years ago, their daughter was born. ''A couple of months prior to these offences the complainant installed a camera to record Helen’s behavior because he didn't think anyone would believe his story. That recorded three incidents.” In mitigation defence lawyer James Street said: “This is a very sad case indeed – she pleaded guilty when she appeared in court for the first time in her life. Really, all of these problems come from a long-term drinking problem which has lead to significant mental health issues.” JP’s sentenced Tweedy to a 12-month community order with 120 hours’ unpaid work and a restraining order for 12 months. Following the trial Neil said: "Helen is a fantastic and brilliant teacher and gets to work for 7.30am and doesn't leave till 7.30pm. She's just so hard working. "The problem was just alcohol, she was admitted to hospital twice in the past year and could have died. Something had to change. It's not the kind of problem where she wakes up needing alcohol it's just the binge drinking at weekends that's caused this. "Hopefully now she can get the hope she needs."

I have been a fan ofSpongeBob Squarepantsfor years and think that the depth of the characters is one of the things that really makes this show work. Ever since I heard Mr. Lawrence say (in an audio commentary on the Season 1 DVD's) that Stephen Hillenburg based the 7 main characters on the 7 Deadly Sins, I couldn't help but be very fascinated. I think I've figured out which character is each one. 1.Sloth-Patrick Sloth is the sin of laziness, or unwillingess to act. Obviously this is Patrick. He lays under a rock all the time and doesn't really do anything. In fact in the episode "Big Pink Loser" he got an award for doing nothing the longest. 2. Wrath-Squidward Wrath involves feelings of hatred and anger. Squidward hates his life, usually hates SpongeBob, and is pretty much angry most of the time. 3. Greed-Mr. Krabs Obviously Mr. Krabs is greedy and desires money. How could Greed not be Krabs? He actually sang about the power of greed in "Selling Out". 4. Envy-Plankton Plankton is envious of Mr. Krabs because The Krusty Krab is a success while The Chum Bucket is a failure. His envy drives him to try to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula. 5. Gluttony -Gary I actually think this one is pretty funny. Did you ever notice the running gag in Spongebob where they say "don't forget to feed Gary" or Sponge says "I gotta go feed Gary". Gary even ran away that time when SpongeBob forgot to feed him. Gluttony usually refers to the overindulgence of food so I'm guessing this one fits him pretty well. 6. Pride-Sandy Sandy takes a lot of pride in who she is and where she comes from. She takes pride in the fact that she is from Texas and likes to let everyone know it. She also takes pride in the fact that she is a mammal and a land creature, like in the episode "Pressure" where she tried to prove land critters were better than sea critters. 7. Lust-SpongeBob Ok, I know what your thinking. It does seem a little weird and curious at first but I have given it a lot of thought. Lust in one definition is "excessive love of others". I think this one works best for Spongebob. He shows his love of others with his over eagerness to do good and help people. If anything is true about SpongeBob its that he loves everyone around him, even if they don't exactly love him back. So this is what I came up with. I don't know what anybody else thinks. Oh by the way try not to analyze cartoons too much, especially SpongeBob. I actually think the people on the show try to be inconsistent on purpose. Just to be funny. |
