Is earnings growth of 30% certain for the next 5 years? emmanuelewumi: What will you say about Sahcol.
Current PE of Nahco is 16.3, if they pay 90% of earnings as dividends the dividend yield will be 5.5%, if they can continue with their earnings and dividends growth by 30% for the next 5 years that will be about 20% dividend yield based on the current stock price
Current dividend yield plus earning growth divided by current PE
(5.5 +30) divided by 16.3
35.5/16.3
That is 2.17. I look at a minimum of 2 but 2.5 and above is preferable
Formula was developed by Peter Lynch and uses a minimum of 1.5.
I use 2 and above because of a higher required return for Nigerian stocks |

Are this brokers good platform wise like are you able to login and easily buy and sell while seeing the market moves for the day? Also Union Capital Markets is now owned by a fintech-Trove. They sent me an email today. emmanuelewumi: I guess they were friends. When my portfolio got to a certain level, I moved my stockbroking accounts to the subsidiaries of the 3 big banks at that time Premium Securities now FBN Securities a subsidiary of First Bank, Union Capital Market a subsidiary of Union Bank and UBA Stockbrokers now United Capital securities.
Ekpe as a former CEO of ETI should have known better. ETI used to have a stockbroking subsidiary at Victoria Island, I don't know why he did not have his account there
I think the stockbroker used the outstanding fund to take position in penny stocks that did not come out fine. Partnership was more of a Market Marker for some penny stocks at that time.
Used to enjoy the articles of this Stockbrokers about the capital, especially on trading and penny stocks |

I am a customer. They recently started charging for cards but you are right on transfer fees being free. freeman67: Sterling just started. I have said it severally, before sterling, the only bank that does not charge you for transfer fee (if you like do 100 transfers in a day), SMS alert charge, ATM issuance fee ( their ATM card is free and lasts longer for about 6 years bar misplacement or damage), ATM card maintenance fee and all sundry charges other Nigerian banks do is Standard Chartered Bank. The likely of getting mints as released from the CBN through their banks and ATM without trading like other banks do.
The only thing they have in common with other Nigerian banks is that they operate here in Nigeria and they will not pay you interest on your savings for the month if you do 4 upto transactions that makes money leave your account.
The down side to them is that their branches are few and you will spend more time if you have any need to visit them. |

With these numbers it looks better than Ellah but not promising enough or near Presco or Okomu except it keeps growing revenue at the same over 200% rate. I personally would not go near this for serious investing except trading or JIJO. Plus firms in the agro space need to concentrate on one area of expertise (They are into snail farming, fishery, oil production, poultry, feeds). I would pass for now. #Not financial advice. SonofElElyonRet: "They recorded a whopping total gross revenue of N132 million as at the close of business year 2023, with profit after tax of over N8.1million with total retained earnings of over N21.1million."
"The company in financial year ended December 31, 2024 declared turnover of N289million, about 119 per cent increase over N132 million recorded in 2023.. the company, however, closed 2024 with a profit of N56.7 million, about 238 per cent increase when compared to N16.8 million in 2023.
In the year under review, the company declared and got shareholders approval for a dividend of 5kobo per share with an option for script shares in lieu for who elect to opt for script shares."
Looks like there was a mix of dividend and bonus shares |

You own your money and have your choices. Drag them everywhere possible and move your holdings elsewhere. This wicked Nigeria fintech apps Ourown: Bamboo is a frustrating and very terrible company. I have been following up with them since September 2025 to find out why I did not receive a dividend payment for a stock I bought on their platform. Till now, nothing.
Also, you cannot place a limit order on their app. I regret opening an account with them. |

The growth of penny stocks can be sweet. The trapping for bag holders bitter. emmanuelewumi: It depends on your investment objectives.
It depends of you a trader or an investor.
It also depends on the type of investor you are either an income investor, value investor, growth investor or quality.
Investment is a marathon and not a sprint.
So when investing you use fundamental analysis and also consider the ability of the business to always deliver.
It is not during a bull market that we know who is right, |

That is premium big bull, it's 74k. The other variant is 59k. Okomu oil is 8-9k in Lagos. The Groundnutoil is 17k.Its not too bad considering transportation. Checking time value of money, he should get more as money was being invested monthly and pulled to buy in bulk folake4u: Ishi, that salt nor pass 1k. Dental floss too.
Bama mayonnaise is within the range of 2-3k. Okomu palm oil 4litres is between 6-7k. (I just asked my Mum how much she got hers and she told me this price range in Benin). Maybe his location is more expensive.

I know Afriland and CSCS is on NASD. Please how do we invest here. There are some businesses I would like to buy but its not so clear. Do we just reach out to our brokers. emmanuelewumi: I love the sound of dividend alerts from January to December. In fact my portfolio income is now 15 times of what I got in 2020. That is the only efficiency that is important to me
Used to have about 60 stocks in my portfolio and then used to receive over 100 dividend alerts. Although I have received 57 credit from alerts from my portfolio this year, with an outstanding one towards the end of the year.
Although I started reducing the stocks in the portfolio around late 2024.
Just checked my portfolio and I found out I have the following securities in my portfolio. 17 stocks and 7 bonds. Equities 1. Afriland Properties 2. CSCS 3. Friesland WAMCO 4. Africa Prudential Registrars 5. Aradel 6. Dunlop ( dead stock, with no buyer) 7. GTB 8. Nahco 9. Presco 10. Unilever 11. United Capital 12. Zenith Bank 13. Stanbic IBTC Bank 14. Okomu Oil 15. Custodian 16. Fortis Global Insurance ( dead stock) 17. Transcorp
Bonds
1. 12.4% FGN March 2036 2. 12.98% FGN March 2050 3. 16.2884% FGN March 2027 4. 12.5% FGN March 2035 5. 13% FGN December 2031 6. 19% FGN February 2034 7. 19.89 FGN May 2033.
The securities should be able to give me at least 36 investment income credit alerts
I sold the following this year 1. NGX 2. Fidelity Bank 3. FCMB 4. NASCON 5. Access Bank 6. Total Energy 7. SFS REIT 8. UPDC REIT 9. Seplat 10. First Bank 11. CAP Plc 12. Airtel |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by MeezPat(f): 9:51pm On Dec 13, 2025 |
Nigerian banks are mandated by the CBN to move all customer holdings of bonds and Tbills to a custodian. Hence the custody fee that clients pay when they purchase this instruments. This is to prevent client losing their funds and separation of customer funds from bank funds or investments. So CBN settles custodian. Custodian moves back to bank. Bank settles you. emmanuelewumi: CBN is the registrar of FGN bonds, the problem with payment is from CSCS. I have experienced that on 2 occasions, I wrote a mail to CSCS and I got paid.
It is more liquid if the bond is in custody of the bank, but I prefer mine in CSCS. By being in CSCS I have easily get the total valuations of my equities and bonds through CSCS online.
If they are with the bank, what happens if the bank goes under. |
