Please could you explain how to get justified PB ratio from ROE?
emmanuelewumi:
Based on the latest market update sent to me by United Capital the average

Price Book ratio on NGX is 2.2

Average Price Earning ratio is 11.1

Based on Graham's model, at a price book ratio of 2.2 the average return on equity should be 16%.

Based on an average return on equity of 16% the justified average Price Earning ratio on NGX should be 13.75.

With the current average PE of 11.1 the ASI will need to increase by 24% to have an average Price Earning ratio of 13.75 or ASI of 78,000.

Considering the current yield in the bond market, the expected increase of 24% will be discounted to 20.5% by using the average yield on a 10 year bond and the current yield on a 10 year bond.

So we should be looking at ASI of 75,000 for the NGX to actualize its intrinsic value.

I will advise people to look into stocks whose unleveraged return on equity is more than 16% although 20% and above is preferable and currently have a Price Earning ratio of 12 and below.

My opinion though.

Please do your due diligence

How I go learn technical analysis bayi shocked
BullBearMkt:
We do not have enough data from Access holdings due to change of name in 2022. That makes using price comparison for 2 year forecast a bit challenging. However, based on 52 weeks data, technically, Access (dark yellow line) looks possibly to give the best capital appreciation, followed by ETI (brown line). UBA is red line while NSE index is the blue line.

I also attempted to look at few FA parameters (Not my area; just doing "gbeborun"wink )
In terms of Value: UBA has the lowest P/E ratio (1.71), suggesting it might be undervalued compared to the other 2 banks. Access = 2.60/ ETI = 2.0

Growth: Access shows the highest EPS (4.83) , which may suggest higher growth potential. UBA = 4.8/ ETI = Confused showing me 0.01

Dividend Yield: UBA has the highest dividend yield of 13%, UBA may return the most income relative to the share price.
ACCESS = 10%
ETI=8.5%

I know both UBA and ACCESS pay dividend consistently but not sure of ETI.

Conclusion
-If it's capital appreciation + Dividend = Best is ACCESS. Followed by UBA
-If it's dividend focused = UBA followed by ACCESS.

Any clarifications on the TA part, kindly let know. For FA, we have great gurus in the house to ask.

Abeg no vex...What is BE?
Streetinvestor2:
why do you want that.My BE was 230 when current price was talking about it as the man with oxygen,it needs to get to #500 by December. My rule is I don't sell at loss unless if I see the company is likely closing shop. That was why i didn't sell then .It is sugar I want @ #20 so I can move all the money sold from zenith before dividend @#25.50,BE was #18 plus.

I am moving back cash to the market because I see the government are toeing the right path.
Maybe townhall may actually be the John the baptist of naija

It seems so...Part of the recommendations of the Economic advisory council is for the reduction of interest rates to 9% to encourage businesses and investment plus getting inflation to 13%
ositadima1:
It appears that the days of free money are coming to an end. I am referring to Treasury bills and bonds. We may not see interest rates as high as 15% or even 20% (and yes, that has happened in the past) for a very long time.

Doesn't their system allow a sale by yourself as in morgan capital for easy monitoring
sterlingD:
What l can deduce from this is that the sell order has not been executed maybe no buyer to pick the stock at your sell price yet or system challenge.Do them a mail with execution order to sell your quantity at your specific price with follow up (Just a suggestion though correct me if l am wrong).
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by MeezPat(f): 10:15am On Jun 05, 2023
Thank you
emmasoft:
No stress if you do the needful from the onset.

After the purchase of shares, fill out a transfer form for each of the stocks that have different registrars and submit the same to your broker for transmission of your signature specimen to the registrar concerned.

Two weeks after, fill out an e-dividend mandate form and submit it to the registrars.

Please note that if this process is done after the closure date of the current dividend, yours will be paid much later after the normal payment date.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by MeezPat(f): 10:15am On Jun 05, 2023
Thank you
thesilentone:
Contacting them long before dividends are paid is still the way to go. Fill their e-mandate forms and then wait.

A few registrars (very few) are quite efficient, some are just utterly useless and should have no business being in business.

Can you request the cscs statement from your broker
emmasoft:
Getting X-alert depends on network it has nothing to do with the broking firm. It's triggered automatically but sometimes network issues could cause a non delivery. So you may get but some other times it may be otherwise or get it the next day.

The surest way to be sure your stock was bought or sold is to demand for your cscs statement.

If such request is made before the third day of transaction, you see the stock on pending column but if after three days it would have settled in your account on the balance column.

You can also check your account on the trading platform and confirm from your transaction statement.

The list CP I have done for this period is above 15% why then will I just go with their Secondary Market when I can move to Other bank or invest in CP.

https://fbnquest.com/your-ultimate-guide-to-treasury-bills-trading-in-nigeria. Everyone who wins at auctions receive same rate.

I think you ain't right.

JAMB cut off point applies here.

Stop rate is the cut off point but it spell the maximum rate so all below that rate is accepted and all above fails.

Your bank might bid 9% when stop rate is 15%, you will get your 9% and another gets 14% if that was his bid.

Experts in the house, throw more light, thanks
